Google Babel Could Support Google Voice

Google Babel Could Support Google Voice We did talk about Google Babel earlier yesterday, where leaked screenshots of its basic web interface were revealed. Well, here is more about Google Babel that you might be interested in finding out. Granted, it did seem as though Google Babel will not see Google Voice thrown into the mix at launch, and will only have the likes of Google Talk, Google+ Messenger, and Hangouts bundled, but in the course of just a day, it seems that Google Voice is not yet out of the picture, as there is the chance of Google Babel eventually offering support for Google Voice.

Bear in mind that the original objective is to ensure Google Babel achieves cross-platform compatibility, where it will play nice on the Web, Android, and iOS. Google is also touted to want to construct a top notch iOS experience, and we cannot but wait with plenty of anticipation considering how the increasing number of leaks and rumors surrounding Google Babel would indicate the very real possibility of an imminent launch.

Google Babel Web Interface Screenshots Leaked

Google Babel Web Interface Screenshots Leaked

Screenshots of what appears to be the web interface of Google Babel have leaked. Much has already been said about Google’s rumored unified messaging service. Previously dubbed “Babble”, the service will be a cross platform chat service. Google has still not commented on the existence of the new service, but these leaked screenshots are fairly convincing.

It is evident from the screenshots that the new Gmail Chat tool has a threaded messaging layout with image thumbnails. This replaces the conventional text based layout. Google+ will be built in to Babel and to send photos through it, users will have to link their Google+ accounts. Many new emoticons are also seen in these leaked screenshots. The source claims that Babel unifies Google’s communication services, whereas inside Gmail, Babel is merely a new design of the chat interface. On the face of it, these leaked Babel web interface screenshots look legitimate, though we can never be too certain until an official announcement is made. Nevertheless, you can check out all of the leaked screenshots in the gallery that has been posted down below.

“Babel” Moniker For Google’s Rumored Unified Chat Service Spotted Again

Babel Moniker For Googles Rumored Unified Chat Service Spotted Again

Last month it was rumored that Google is building a new unified chat service called Babble. It was later said that internally the service is being referred to as ‘Babel’ and not Babble. Now there’s an apparent confirmation of the Babel moniker from one Patric Dhawaan, who noticed the name in a pop up while cleaning his Gmail inbox. It says in the pop up that “all conversations have been moved to the Trash.” This is pretty standard, but it gets interesting after that when it reads “Because one or more are part of a Babel chat, these messages are still available in other Babel chat applications.

There’s no expected date for Babel’s release, many believe that Google will make the announcement at Google I/O. According to reports, Babel will have a new conversation based UI, ability to access same conversation list from anywhere and the ability to send pictures as well as advanced group conversations and improved notifications across multiple devices. Various signs point towards Google developing such a service. Rumor has it that Google is negotiating an acquisition of WhatsApp that might end up costing it over $1 billion. The acquisition would bring in the WhatsApp team, which is undoubtedly very well-versed with the cross platform messaging niche, and would greatly help Google in getting its own service off the ground.
