Gran Turismo 6 Updated, Gets More Red Bull Goodness

Gran Turismo 6 Updated, Gets More Red Bull GoodnessGran Turismo 6, while failing to match up to its predecessor’s initial sales success in Japan, is still a game worthy to dive into, especially if you are into racing sims and have a serious set up such as a dedicated steering wheel and the like. Well, Gran Turismo 6 has just received an update that will see the inclusion of a couple more Red Bull cars, in addition to the Red Bull X Challenge. The latter happens to be a collaboration with Infiniti Red Bull Racing, where you will have 2013 Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel acting as a mentor to players when it comes to driving a real formula car, minus all the danger in your living room.

As for the new Red Bull cars, you can check out the Red Bull Racing Kart and Red Bull X2014 Junior in dealerships in-game via the update, whereas the Red Bull X2014 Standard and Fan cars should arrive at a later point in time. Not only that, the slew of new Red Bull X2014 cars have been specially designed for GT6 alongside Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s legendary Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey. Other features in the 1.02 update include Consecutive Login Bonus, the ability to earn increased credits in Career Mode, as well as lowering the bar for entering seasonal events, among others. Gran Turismo 6 Microtransactions Cost Detailed

Gran Turismo 6 Microtransactions Cost Detailed

We reported last month that Gran Turismo 6, “the most realistic driving simulator year,” according to Sony, supports microtransactions. This is the first title in the series that supports microtransactions or in-game purchases. Gamers will be able to purchase in-game virtual currency which can be used to purchase cars and parts. Called credits, they are available in 500,000, 1 million, 2.5 million and 7 million denominations. They cost €4.99, €9.99, €19.99 and €49.99 respectively.

The Gran Turismo 6 title is exclusive to the Sony PlayStation 3 and its release is just around the corner. The game is going to be released on December 6. While purchasing in-game currency offers gamers the easy way out when it comes to purchasing cars and partners, gamers will still be able to accumulate in-game currency by completing races. Credit can be purchased through the PlayStation Store as well as brick-and-mortar retailers. Some gamers might aruge that by offering microtransactions, the game’s progression system has been affected. However, Sony is of the view that Gran Turismo 6 microtransactions offer an alternative route for those who don’t want to ride along for the lengthy progression. For example if a gamer wishes to purchase the Jaguar XJ13, one of the most expensive cars in the game, they can either play long enough to accumulate 20 million credits or simply drop some money and buy credits to purchase the car.

Sony Confirms Gran Turismo 6 Supports Microtransactions

Sony Confirms Gran Turismo 6 Supports Microtransactions

Sony has announced that Gran Turismo 6, “the most realistic driving simulator yet,” is now available for pre-order of the PS Store. Customers can now get in their orders for the Standard Edition or the Special Edition. The latter contains Gran Turismo 6, 20 additional cards in Torque, Performance, Adrenaline and Velocity packs, custom PlayStation Network avatars, race suits, helmets and paint chips. Customers who pre-order any edition will get all cars included in the Precision Pack for free.

The company has also confirmed that Gran Turismo 6 is the first game of the entire series to support microtransactions, meaning that gamers will be able to purchase credit they can use in the game. In-game credits will be available for sale through the PS Store as well as brick-and-mortar retailers, the credits will be available in the 500,000, 1 million, 2.5 million and 7 million denominations. Gamers can use the credits to purchase cars, and they’ll obviously be able to earn credits within the game itself by completing races. However, those who don’t want to wait to purchase all of their favorite cars can take the easy way out and just purchase the credits. Gran Turismo 6, a title that’s exclusive to the PlayStation 3, will be released on December 6th.

Gran Turismo 6 Will Not Be Arriving For The PS Vita

Gran Turismo 6 Will Not Be Arriving For The PS Vita

Sony announced Gran Turismo 6 earlier this year for the PlayStation 3 console. Unfortunately the game will not be arriving for the PlayStation 4 console in the near future, although Polyphony Digital did acknowledge it was a possibility. In any case what about the PS Vita? Will we be seeing Gran Turismo 6 make its way onto the PS Vita in the future? Unfortunately just like PlayStation 4 would-be owners, PS Vita owners are in for some bad news as Gran Turismo 6 will not be arriving for the PS Vita.

According to Sony’s President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida (via IGN), “The PS Vita is a very powerful portable system, but not quite as powerful as PS3. As you can tell looking at GT6, it really is using PS3 to a very high level. So it’s going to be really hard to move GT6 onto PS Vita.” Essentially it means that the PS Vita might not be powerful enough to support the game. Of course it is possible for Sony to make a “light” version which they did for the PSP a while ago, although whether this might compromise on the overall feel and gameplay should probably be taken into account as well.

Gran Turismo 6 For The PS4 Might Evolve To Gran Turismo 7, According To Polyphony Boss

Gran Turismo 6 For The PS4 Might Evolve To Gran Turismo 7, According To Polyphony BossEarlier this year Gran Turismo 6 was announced much to the delight of fans around the world. Unfortunately the game was announced for the PlayStation 3, which was a little weird given that Sony had already unveiled the PlayStation 4 and many had presumed Gran Turismo 6 would arrive on the PS4. The semi-good news back then was that a PS4 version of the game was being planned, but speaking recently during gamescom 2013 in Germany, Polyphony Digital’s CEO, Kazunori Yamauchi, revealed that by the time Gran Turismo 6 made its way onto the PS4, it could very well have evolved to Gran Turismo 7 by then.

This was a hypothetical scenario that Yamauchi imagined as it would take a while for Gran Turismo 6 to arrive on the PS4, along with the uncertainty that the vision of Gran Turismo 6 would be able to carry over to Gran Turismo 7. Unfortunately this doesn’t leave us with much to work on since it doesn’t deny nor does it confirm that the game will arrive on the PlayStation 4. In any case for gamers looking forward to Gran Turismo 6, you might want to hold off on selling your PlayStation 3 for now.
