GTA 5 sees spring 2013 release date

Well, here we have it, right from the horse’s mouth – Grand Theft Auto V (otherwise referred to as GTA 5) will be released on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 worldwide when spring 2013 rolls around, according to Rockstar Games. Sometime in the middle of this month, an analyst did mention the possibility of an early 2013 rollout, and it is nice to hear Rockstar Games confirm such speculation. This announcement came about ahead of parent company Take-Two Interactive’s proposed fiscal Q2 2013 earnings call, and since Hurricane Sandy decided to make a mess out of things, the earnings call which was due to happen in New York City was called off.

Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser said, “Grand Theft Auto V builds on everything we’ve learned about open world game design. We can’t wait to share it with fans.” I am quite sure that the fans share a similar sentiment, too, and would want to explore new worlds, ride new vehicles and shoot down all those in their path of, er, city domination?

Rockstar unveils first official Grand Theft Auto 5 artwork

Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 is most likely looking at a 2013 release, but so far not much about the game has been revealed, i.e. gameplay, features, system requirements, story and etc. So far Rockstar has released several screenshots from the game in the past, highlighting the pretty awesome graphics that gamers can expect to see. Well Rockstar has now released the first official artwork from the upcoming game, giving us a look at some characters from the game disguised as pest control workers while wielding some pretty serious firepower. In any case the artwork looks pretty good and according to the Rockstar blog, lots of info will be coming next month. We’re not sure what they mean by that – could they be talking about a release date or game features? Either way we guess we will have to wait and find out, but do check back with us then for the latest updates!

Rockstar launches official Grand Theft Auto 5 Facebook page

Whether Rockstar’s highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 5 will see a release before March 2013 remains to be seen, but for those who can’t wait to get their hands on the game, Rockstar has since launched the official Grand Theft Auto 5 Facebook page. At the moment the page is kind of barren, although we expect that updates regarding the game’s status, screenshots, announcements and the like will populate the page in due time. However according to Just Push Start, it seems that the Game Informer magazine will be revealing more about Grand Theft Auto 5 in their next issue, which had them speculating that perhaps Rockstar could be close to finishing the game and will have some new material in which they can share with their fans. In any case we’ll keep our eyes and ears peeled, so do check back with us from time to time for updates on the game, or you can head on over to the official Grand Theft Auto 5 Facebook where Rockstar will hopefully have some material to share soon.

GTA 5 release date set before March 2013, says analyst

Being an analyst carries an incredibly heavy responsibility – what you say could actually be gospel truth for some. Some analysts tend to say very little, but when they do, they are absolutely spot on. This time around, we have games industry analyst Michael Pachter who claims that the long awaited GTA 5 game will be released before March 2013. His came to this speculation based on the recent GameInformer announcement that GTA 5 is scheduled for an appearance on November’s cover issue, hence leading him to put his money on a release date sometime before Q1 2013 is over.

When Pachter was interviewed, he said, “Every GTA, except for one, has launched in October.I actually think the Rockstar guys would have preferred to launch [GTA 5] this October. I don’t know that they are going to try and get in the way of BioShock Infinite, which is a February launch, Rockstar probably aren’t even aware BioShock is coming out, nor do they care. Take Two is on the hook to deliver over a billion dollars in revenue. Their fiscal year, ends March 31, so they pretty much have to bring the game out by March 31. I would say a March launch is more likely than May and knowing the Rockstar guys, I wouldn’t rule out a December [2012] launch. You just don’t know with these guys, they could announce next week that GTA is coming out December 20, I think it would be stupid, but they could do it.”

What do you think of Pachter’s observation? Is it in line with what you have in mind, or do you think that there will be a different release date overall?

Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) rumored to have a large map

Late last night, we talked about how the GTA 5 release date might have leaked out in a screenshot (which came with a customary blurred look, of course, as with most leaked images and screenshots) although there is a possibility that it might be a hoax. Well, here is another piece of information concerning GTA 5 that you might want to take with a grain of salt – it seems that an European source has laid claim to the map size in GTA 5 to be (unsurprisingly) five times that of the one in its predecessor, GTA 4.

And you thought that GTA 4 was large, no? What do you think about this piece of information – is it legit, or do you think that it is just another rabbit trail for fanboys to follow? One thing’s for sure, if the map is really that large, then you would definitely get your money’s worth with each purchase. You need not rush through it all, you know.

GTA 5 release date in leaked screenshot a probable hoax

You can never quite trust everything that you read on the Internet these days, unless there is a confirmation from the official source. Case in point, the leaked screenshot that you see above allegedly shows off the release date for GTA 5 (Grand Theft Auto 5), which is a hotly anticipated gaming title from Rockstar Games. After all, we have already discovered GTA 5 vehicle names in Max Payne 3, not to mention a Rockstar employee’s CV hinting at an October 2012 release for GTA V as well. The screenshot above shows an alleged data page for Grand Theft Auto 5 that shares vital statistics such as the release window, the confirmation of a PC version, a possible co-op mode and perhaps online multiplayer capability of (hard to believe) up to 64 players. It is like Quake 2 all over again, just with more mayhem.

Since this is a leaked screenshot, it goes without saying that a certain amount of blur comes with the territory, and what you see does not disappoint. I suppose that in the case of hardcore GTA fans, they would echo the words of Fox Mulder, “I want to believe.” Do you?

Grand Theft Auto 5 screenshots spotted

Rockstar Games has been rather quiet on the Grand Theft Auto 5 front, where the game company had scarcely released any essential information for fans of the franchise to feast on. Well, I guess it is a good way to kick start your Monday with word of three screenshots that you can check out right after the jump concerning Grand Theft Auto 5, showing off a trio of transportation classes. The modes of transportation would be a racing bicycle, a car under the brand “Cheeta”, and an aeroplane that resembles a fighter jet. Wowzers – does this mean you are able to drop napalm across entire neighborhoods on the bad guys who piss you off? These leaked images do seem to be rather high resolution, so chances are pretty good that these will not be part of a mod. We look forward with bated breath to the release date of Grand Theft Auto 5, but for the moment, these leaked screenshots will have to make do, fanboy. (more…)

Rockstar releases Grand Theft Auto 5 screenshots

Rockstar has been pretty evasive and quiet when it comes to Grand Theft Auto 5, but in the latest set of Q&As, the company has released a couple of screenshots from the game, giving us a glimpse of the game which they are calling their “biggest open world game to date”. Unfortunately apart from those screenshots (with more promised to be on the way), not much else was revealed about the game. Naturally the lack of information is frustrating for fans and has spawned a lot of rumors and speculation, which Rockstar had this to say: (more…)
