Malware Parades As Grand Theft Auto V For Windows

Malware Parades As Grand Theft Auto V For Windows Grand Theft Auto 5, or GTA 5 for short, is a game that has more or less captured the imagination of many, having broken a whopping 7 Guinness World Records along the way. In fact, it has also been noted that GTA 5 itself comes with nearly 30 Easter Eggs to boot! Having said that, one thing must be established first – GTA 5 is available only on the console platform, so those with a Windows computer would only be getting themselves into trouble if they happen to download a GTA V PC port that they have found online.

In any case, DO NOT download this alleged GTA V PC port, since it is actually a malware disguised as such. The file download began to appearing on torrent sites earlier this week, where it weighs in at a massive 18GB, and has been downloaded thousands of times to boot. Most folks might be fooled into thinking that they are downloading a setup.exe file for GTA V, but it actually has a veiled intention of tricking folks to surf to a website in order to “register” their personal information. Needless to say, this is but a phishing scheme that is deviously executed, preying on the naivete of the masses.

Now that you know, go warn everyone else in your contact circle about this malware, too.

GTA 5 Has Nearly 30 Easter Eggs

GTA 5 Has Nearly 30 Easter EggsTo say that GTA 5 is a huge success is not too far off from the truth. The game has already set 7 Guinness world records in the process along the way, and earned truckloads of money for Rockstar Games, too. Having been in stores for a month already, it has ended up as the most successful video game launch of all time, although there were some bumps along the way. Some gamers are happy completing the title once or twice, while others are more ambitious than that. This particular group would prefer to play the game for all that it is worth, looking all over the place for Rockstar Games’ signature Easter eggs.

So far, gaming site IGN did list 29 of such Easter eggs, secrets and pop culture references on GTA 5. Needless to say, the first GTA 5 Easter egg listed was a reference to Grove Street, which happens to be the main setting of GTA: San Andreas as well as the street where its protagonist, Carl “C.J.” Johnson actually grew up in. As for pop culture references, there are plenty in GTA 5, where one of them actually paid tribute to the Thelma and Louise ending, as a couple of ladies flew off a cliff in their convertible as they were making their way from the cops in the evening.

Have you enjoyed your GTA 5 experience so far?

GTA Online Update Halves Money Earned From Repeated Missions

GTA Online Update Halves Money Earned From Repeated Missions

Rockstar has been trying to make good on its previous launch issues with Grand Theft Auto Online by offering players a ton of in-game cash as a way to make things up to players who experienced the service’s growing pains, although it looks like not all of the issues can be fixed. If you’ve been playing Grand Theft Auto Online and have been enjoying making tons of cash when replaying missions, your joyride is now over as Rockstar has confirmed repeating missions will only pay out half of the usual amount of in-game cash. GTA 5 Japan Debut Was Best To Date In That Part Of The World

GTA 5 Japan Debut Was Best To Date In That Part Of The WorldWe all know by now how Grand Theft Auto 5, or GTA 5 for short, has broken its fair share of records ever since it was released, pulling in a whole lot more dough than what some summer blockbusters could to boot. In fact, 7 Guinness world records fell to the GTA 5 onslaught, and hence, it was not surprising to hear that Media Create data depicts this title to be the highest debut for a GTA game in Japan, boasting of a sell-through rate of 85.71% on the PS3 as well as 92.57% on the Xbox 360.

Of course, what are existing statistics if they do not happen to have the “crutch” of previous releases to fall back upon? Let us take a walk down memory lane, with GTA 4 debuting in 2008 as it sold 132,676 copies in its first week on PS3 (78.77% sell-through) and 33,648 copies on the Xbox 360 (62.80% sell-through). Before GTA 5 ambled along, the best-selling debut for GTA was GTA: Vice City in 2004, where it sold 246,000 copies on the PS2.

One thing’s for sure – GTA 5 is going to be a record holder for quite some time to come, and it would be interesting to see whether future game outings under the Grand Theft Auto banner would be able to generate even better statistics.

GTA 5 For PC Rumored To Release Early Next Year

GTA 5 For PC Rumored To Release Early Next Year

One of the most highly anticipated games of this year was without a doubt Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5. The game raked in a billion dollars in record time and continues to sell like hot cakes. Rockstar still hasn’t said when GTA 5 for PC is going to be released, but according to new rumors, it is likely that the release might take place in early 2014.

GTA 5 is currently only available for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. “Multiple industry sources” reveal to Eurogamer that GTA 5 for PC is going to be released in the first quarter of 2014. The release plan is said to mirror that of GTA 4, which was first released for both of the aforementioned consoles back in 2008 and was followed by the PC version after nearly eight months. Over the past few weeks rumors about the possibility of GTA 5 for PC have consistently floated around, Rockstar is as tight-lipped as ever, offering no indication whatsoever if a PC version of its popular new game is in the pipeline. Rockstar says that it does not have “anything to share about the possibility of a next-gen or a PC platform release at this time.” An online petition has already been started, urging Rockstar to release GTA 5 for PC. As of now, the petition has amassed over 600,000 signatures, so its not like there won’t be any demand for the game when its ultimately released for the PC.

GTA Online Players To Receive $500k GTA$ To Make Up For Its Troubled Launch

If you’re a gamer, chances are pretty high you’ve been spending much of your time playing Grand Theft Auto 5 ever since it was released. Just last week, Rockstar Games released the game’s online multiplayer mode, Grand Theft Auto Online, although its launch didn’t go as smooth as the company had originally anticipated. Grand Theft Auto Online players have had to endure quite a bit in order to actually use the mode, which is why Rockstar is rewarding all of us for experiencing all of the hiccups GTA Online experienced over the past week. Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5 has been expectedly receiving attention both good and bad ever since its release. GTA 5 Breaks 7 Guinness World Records

GTA 5 Breaks 7 Guinness World RecordsWe knew that Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 game was a winner in terms of sales, and also reviews that we’ve come across so far, but it looks like the game has also managed to break seven Guinness World Records as well. According to the records that GTA 5 has managed to break, they have managed to achieve the “Best-selling action-adventure video game in 24 hours”, “Best-selling video game in 24 hours”, “Fastest entertainment property to gross $1 billion” (took them just three days to pull in a whopping $1 billion), “Fastest video game to gross $1 billion”, “Highest grossing video game in 24 hours”, “Highest revenue generated by an entertainment product in 24 hours”, and “Most viewed trailer for an action-adventure video game”.

Those are some pretty impressive accolades right there! The game was launched on the 17th of September and was made available simultaneously for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Presumably the game would have made more money if it had been released for the PC as well, but oddly enough Rockstar has decided to skip on a PC version of GTA 5, at least for now. There is also no word on whether Rockstar will eventually add support for next-gen consoles like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but for now even though it is available for two consoles, it has proven to be a massive hit.

GTA 5 Reviewed By Mother In Hilarious SNL Skit [Video]

Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5 was released onto the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 just a few weeks ago with many reviewers and fans of the series agreeing it’s quite an offering from the company. One group that you wouldn’t expect to enjoy the game are moms, who we think would prefer to have the sex, drugs and violence of the game toned down a bit so their children can enjoy the game. As you’ll see from a segment that aired on Saturday Night Live this past weekend, it looks like moms can enjoy the game just as much as their teenage sons.

Saturday Night Live cast member Kate McKinnon played Pat Lynhart, a mother from Hartford, Connecticut who just so happens to share the same sentiment as the rest of us do about Grand Theft Auto 5: it’s friggin great. Lynhart’s review of Grand Theft Auto 5 is as over the top as the game itself, with the mom going off on how much more she enjoys playing the game than she does taking care of her children. Let’s just hope calling out Wei Cheng of the Triad clan doesn’t cost her the next time she plays Grand Theft Auto 5 since we know how tough his gang can be.

GTA 5′s Sales Beat GTA 5′s Lifetime Sales In The UK

GTA 5s Sales Beat GTA 5s Lifetime Sales In The UKJust a couple of weeks ago it was reported that Rockstar’s latest Grand Theft Auto 5 game has managed to rocket to the number 1 spot on the UK charts, and now according to the GI.biz, they are reporting a new milestone for the game. It seems that GTA 5 has managed to sell more since it launched three weeks ago, compared to the lifetime sales of its predecessor, GTA 4, which still makes appearances on the UK’s top 40 charts from time to time, so safe to say that this is indeed pretty darn impressive! This makes GTA 5 the 12th biggest-selling game of all time, although GI.biz did note that sales have since dropped by 34% compared to last week’s numbers, which we guess is expected since many gamers would have either pre-ordered it or bought it during its launch.

The GTA 5 title is probably one of the most anticipated titles of 2013 given how popular the GTA franchise is. The game was launched on both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, although oddly enough there has not been any mention of a PC launch which is odd given that previous GTA titles were launched for the PC as well. There’s no telling if PC and next-gen console support will be added at a later date, but the Xbox 360 and PS3 are the only two platforms gamers will be able to enjoy the game on for now.
