Rockstar Said To Investigate Early Sales Of GTA 5

Rockstar Said To Investigate Early Sales Of GTA 5 It seems that life can get pretty difficult if you are trying to keep a high profile subject away from the spotlight. Leaks seem to be easily attainable in this day and age thanks to the plethora of devices out there which can snap photos and record videos in a discreet manner. In fact, Rockstar’s GTA 5, one of the most highly anticipated gaming titles of the year is set to be officially released next week, but apparently it has been reported that the street date has been broken, as some copies of the game has already arrived early from Amazon.

Rockstar is currently said to be “investigating” the reasons behind Grand Theft Auto 5 having arrived at the doorsteps of some customers ahead of the game’s official release. This is in direct contrast to Rockstar’s request to online retailers that copies of the game will not be dispatched until September 16th. So far, it has been reported that several Amazon.co.uk customers have already picked up received copies of their GTA 5 a good four days before the game’s official street date. Rockstar did issue a statement, having mentioned that they are “in the process of investigating early ‘sales’ to determine how and why that is occurring.” With Microsoft having banned at least one Xbox 360 console for leaking images and photos of an early GTA 5 copy, the launch does not seem to be going on as smoothly as Rockstar wanted.

Microsoft Banned Console That Ran Leaked GTA 5

Microsoft Banned Console That Ran Leaked GTA 5Microsoft is certainly coming down hard and heavy, and rightly so, on folks who have leaked out GTA 5 details such as in-game images as well as footage via the leaked copies. GTA 5 can be said to be one of the most anticipated gaming titles of the year, and right now, it remains just a few days away from hitting the store shelves. Rockstar has definitely performed their fair share of precautions so that no copies of the game will be shipped early to customers or retailers, but even their best efforts have proven to be rather futile, as there has been a small number of people who have managed to gain access to the leaked copy of the game, where Instagram and Vine were the vehicles of choice for images and videos of the game to be posted to.

Rockstar has already sent in their request to remove such GTA 5 related content, and their policy reads as such, “No pre-release leaked footage of any kind: Any posting of in-game footage from leaked copies of the game prior to its official release date will be taken down, regardless of how the game was obtained. This includes ‘early unboxing’ videos.” So far, Microsoft has managed to track down the gamertag of at least one user based on his screenshots, and has banned said console from Xbox Live for good.

GTA 5 Fans Upset That Sony Delayed PSN Preload In Europe And US (Updated)

GTA 5 Fans Upset That Sony Delayed PSN Preload In Europe And US (Updated)It was reported earlier that Sony has confirmed for folks living in Europe that pre-order customers of GTA 5 are unable to pre-load the title until Monday, which is a day before release. As for those living in the US, the situation there might be deem to be even more outrageous – US customers will not be able to enjoy any kind of pre-loading at all. Just how much of a big deal pre-loading a game is? Well, if you could do so via Sony’s PlayStation Store, it meant that you could start downloading it a few days before the official release, letting you play the game the moment it is made available officially, instead of having to go through the uber slow connections on release day itself.

Thankfully, both Sony and Rockstar have seemingly worked out some sort of compromise or agreement. It was announced over Twitter that folks living in the US who have placed a pre-order for Grand Theft Auto V via the PlayStation Store will still be able to pre-load the game on September 16, from 3:00 AM Eastern onward. Those living across the pond in Europe can enjoy PSN preloading on September 15 at 3:00 PM BST. Hmmm, first Sony had an early GTA 5 leak that they apologized for afterward, and now this.

Update: Below is PlayStation’s most recent tweet on the situation, citing a Tuesday release. What do you make of the situation?

GTA 5 For Xbox 360 Sold Out At Amazon

GTA 5 For Xbox 360 Sold Out At AmazonThe Xbox 360 might have been around for a fair number of years already, but does this mean it has already run out of top tier games for the masses to enjoy? While many folks are looking forward to the new next generation consoles (Xbox One and Sony PS4), current generation consoles still pack quite a punch and the ability to draw top titles such as Grand Theft Auto 5, or GTA 5 for short. In fact, GTA 4 saw a resurgence in sales before GTA 5 rolls out officially, and here we are with word from Amazon UK that they have run out of GTA 5 for Xbox 360 stock.

According to Amazon UK, “due to high demand, orders placed for Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox 360) from September 13 will be shipped as soon as we receive inventory”. Of course, those of you who are rocking to the Sony PS3 will still be able to place a pre-order for launch day delivers. This might be an early indicator as to which hardware platform the game will be more popular on, but it would not really matter for the developers themselves, right? After all, it is money rolling in both pockets anyways. Have you already placed your pre-order for GTA 5?

Lifeinvader Is Rockstar’s Social Network Parody

Lifeinvader Is Rockstars Social Network ParodyWho would have thought that the idea of a social network would have taken off in such a big way? Well, a few people did, and Facebook has emerged as the 800 lbs gorilla in this particular market. It does seem that Facebook might have a challenger to its throne though, although this would be in the virtual world of Grand Theft Auto 5, or GTA 5 for short. Rockstar has decided to come up with a social network parody that they have called Lifeinvader, and it has been launched before GTA 5′s arrival later next week. Lifeinvader will most probably also feature a bunch of characters and brands from GTA 5 itself.

It is said that the Lifeinvader social network will load up a range of profiles when accessed, where among them include Sprunk, hairdresser Herr Kutz Barber, and Redwood Cigarettes, with the latter actually having a promotion that offers a 10% discount for your first visit to a hospital whenever you “stalk” them on Lifeinvader. I guess this is a continuation from where GTA 4 left off, as that game had a slew of parody websites. Lifeinvader even has its fair share of taglines, among them being “Portray the life you want online,” “Make friends with strangers,” and “Making the private public”.

    GTA 5 Gameplay Footage Leaked

GTA 5 Gameplay Footage LeakedOver the past couple of days we have heard how Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5 has had its map leaked, giving gamers an idea of how massive the area of Los Santos truly is, and apparently the game’s street date has also been broken over in the Middle East where the breaking of street dates is apparently a common occurrence. In any case thanks to a series of Vine videos uploaded by Jsticks11, the gameplay footage of GTA 5 has made its way online, giving gamers a glimpse the game ahead of its 17th of September release.

In one of the videos it shows that Jsticks11 has been banned from Xbox Live, presumably because he acquired the game illegally, but we guess it did not slow him down as his Vine account is chock full of GTA 5 gameplay videos. We’re also guessing that his choice to upload to Vine is because YouTube is generally pretty fast at removing copyrighted material, and we assume Vine will get on his case pretty soon so if you want to check it out, you best move quick! For those who want to avoid any spoilers of any kind, you might want to pass on the videos, but for those who aren’t too fussed, head on over to Jsticks11’s Vine page and check them out!

GTA Online Has More Than 500 Missions

GTA Online Has More Than 500 MissionsAre you looking forward to a game that costs more than what most normal movies would cost to film? I am quite sure that by now, you would have read up all there is and was to read about Grand Theft Auto 5, but apparently now all news surrounding it have been delivered to your doorstep. Sure, we did hear of GTA 5 using real gangsters’ voices to depict the in-game gangsters, not to mention the fact that GTA 5 is set to offer 100 hours of gameplay (does that sound like a lot actually in comparison, to say, Pokemon when you are on a frantic quest to catch them all?), here we are with word that GTA Online will feature more than 500 missions for you to enjoy.

In fact, Grand Theft Auto Online has had its fair share of details posted in the October issue of Game Informer magazine in an interesting preview that spanned half a dozen pages. Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies did mention that the team behind GTA Online had the intention to create a world that “consists of everything we’ve done or are going to do then let the player freely move between them.” He continued, “We’ve always wanted to create a world with the complexity of a single-player Grand Theft Auto game with the addition of real players. We wanted a world where people could spend years without getting bored of playing the same content over and over.” As to whether this intention is achieved, you will have to find out for yourself by giving it a go.

Rockstar Approached For GTA Movies In The Past, But Not Worth Risking The Franchise

Rockstar Approached For GTA Movies In The Past, But Not Worth Risking The FranchiseThe Grand Theft Auto franchise is without doubt a pretty darn popular one, and with the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 5, we expect the franchise to get even bigger than ever. However we’re also expecting that there are gamers out there who are wondering why a Grand Theft Auto movie hasn’t been made yet, after all there are games out there such as Doom, Max Payne, and World of Warcraft who have movies made about them (or at least in the works for World of Warcraft), so why not Grand Theft Auto, right? Well it seems that Rockstar has been approached in the past about making a Grand Theft Auto movie multiple times, but each offer has since been turned down.

According to Rockstar’s co-founder, Dan Houser (via the Guardian), “We’ve been offered, many times, and it’s never appealed. The money’s never been close to be worth risking one’s crown jewels. Our small dabblings with Hollywood have always left us running back to games. The freedom we have to do what we want creatively is of enormous value.” House also stated that the Grand Theft Auto franchise felt more like a television series compared to a movie, but overall felt that they might sully the franchise if they did something like that. What do you guys think? Would you like to see a Grand Theft Auto movie in the future?

Grand Theft Auto 5 Cost $265 Million To Make

Grand Theft Auto 5 Cost $265 Million To MakeGiven that the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5 from Rockstar is expected to offer 100 hours of gameplay, and even hired real-life gangsters to do some of the dialogue, we expect that Rockstar has spent a lot of money on the game, but exactly how much? According to reports, it has been suggested that Rockstar has spent about $265 million on the game, a little more than double that of Grand Theft Auto 4, and dwarfing games such as Skyrim, Crysis 3, and Halo 3 in the process. In fact to give you guys a bit more perspective, the budget for GTA 5 has been compared to that of movies, with GTA 5 costing nearly as much as Pirates of the Caribbean 3, and more than movies like Harry Potter 6, and James Cameron’s Avatar.

With so much money being spent on developing and marketing the game, will Rockstar be able to recoup their losses? Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, are pretty confident that they will and they are actually expecting to rake in about $1 billion in sales before the year is out. Given that we’re already in September, that’s a lot of money to be made in a short period of time! GTA 5 is expected to be released on the Xbox 360 and the PS3 come 17th of September, but what do you guys think? Will GTA 5 be the most successful game Rockstar has ever made? Or do you think that the hype is preceding the game?
