Grand Theft Auto V pre-orders ship early, Amazon UK learns crime doesn’t pay

Amazon hijacks GTA V shipment embargo

Amazon could find itself struck off Rockstar Games’ Christmas card list after it delivered Grand Theft Auto V preorders to customers in the UK in advance of its September 17th release. Some customers reported receiving shipping notifications over the weekend, with additional reports suggesting the game had made it to some doorsteps as early as Saturday. Games Industry says that the company is already investigating these early sales, although we wouldn’t put it past some silent, rogue type like Claude from GTA 3. Microsoft is reportedly banning Xbox Live accounts belonging to those that shared early footage of the game, so if you did receive an early copy, make sure to refrain from sharing your impressive bank heists on social media and video sites until release day.

GTA 4 Sees Sales Spike Before GTA 5 Arrives

GTA 4 Sees Sales Spike Before GTA 5 ArrivesWho would have thought that a five year old game could still fly off the shelves half a decade later? Well, a UK retailer known as Asda has claimed that the GTA 4 title has been selling like hotcakes in anticipation of GTA 5. Asda’s head of video games Craig Thirkell mentioned that “GTA 4 has been flying off the shelves in anticipation. [GTA 5] marks the first of our midnight launches for 2013. We have a few surprises up our sleeves to keep our customers happy on the night.”

It must be noted that while GTA 4 actually hit the market more than 5 years ago (April 2008 to be exact), it has proven to be quite the consistent performer ever since, moving more than 25 million units worldwide while remaining in the top 10 most played charts on Xbox LIVE for a fair amount of time. Well, I suppose the surge in GTA 4 sales would mean that folks have a tinge of nostalgia and probably have sold their previous copy of GTA 4 in the past, and want to get back in the groove as GTA 5 launches next Tuesday, September 17, on both the Xbox 360 and PS3. I suppose it is somewhat the equivalent of Star Wars fans watching the original trilogy before the nefarious Episode 1 was released.

GTA 5 Map Compared to the Google Maps of Major Cities

GTA 5 Map Compared to the Google Maps of Major Cities

After the enormous map for Grand Theft Auto V leaked online, the Internet has had a ball geeking out on the render of Los Santos and Blaine Counties. The geography is based on the sprawling metropolis of Los Angeles, but to give you an idea for how big the city really is in real life , Reddit user fakeitlikeyoumakeit took the Google Maps of other major cities and scaled them to GTA 5 proportions.

GTA 5 Goes Gold, But Rockstar ‘Deeply Disappointed By Leaks And Spoilers’

GTA 5 Goes Gold, But Rockstar Deeply Disappointed By Leaks And SpoilersRight smack at noon today, we talked about how Sony apologized for the GTA 5 leak, but apparently an apology is able to patch a particular “wound”, although the hurt is still there as Rockstar seem to be feeling that at the moment as a company. Rockstar Games did announce, “We’re pleased to confirm that Grand Theft Auto V has officially gone gold and we’re now preparing the game for release on September 17th for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Unfortunately, as many of you may already know, some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V through the PlayStation Store in Europe were able to access certain GTAV assets leading to leaked information and media from the game appearing online. As you can imagine, we are deeply disappointed by leaks and spoilers being spread in advance of the game’s launch. GTAV represents years of hard work by many people across the world, and we all couldn’t be more excited to finally share it with you properly this September 17th.”

Do you think that a leak and some spoilers would change your perspective on the game, or will it stop you from purchasing it? I don’t think so, but it will definitely be able to detract from the feeling of playing a game for the first time without knowing what is in store for you. Rockstar did mention that they still have additional details to share about GTA 5 between now and its September 17th official release date.

Grand Theft Auto 5 collector's editions priced at $80 and $150, coming September 17

When a TV, movie or games series is a big deal, it deserves, no, demands a limited-edition box set, preferably including either artwork or an article of clothing — something that shows your commitment to the cause. Fortunately, Rockstar’s decided to prep two different collector editions for Grand Theft Auto 5 players. The $80 version will include the physical game, artbook, and a blueprint map, alongside in-game ability boosts, stunt plane trials, bonus outfits and weapons. Dial the price up to $150, and you’ll also get a branded security deposit bag, logo key, cap and even more extra content in-game. Those who decide to preorder the standard version of GTA 5 will get the keys to an Atomic Blimp bonus vehicle when all the editions land on September 17.

New GTA 5 Screenshots Feature Heists, Scuba And Ridiculous Costumes

New GTA 5 Screenshots Feature Heists, Scuba And Ridiculous Costumes

It was just last week when Rockstar Games released three trailers for the main characters we’ll be getting to know better in Grand Theft Auto 5: Michael, Franklin and Trevor. It looks like Rockstar is yet again gracing us with some new Grand Theft Auto content as they have released twelve new screenshots for you to ogle at.

The new screenshots for Grand Theft Auto 5 seem to highlight a number of missions you’ll be performing within the game as we can see Trevor tapping into his inner scuba diver, Franklin looking like a badass on a motorcycle wearing a helmet with a skull painted on it, and Michael driving a luxury vehicle along a dirt road. Our absolute favorite of the twelve screenshots has got to be the one featured above, which features all three characters wearing some ridiculous outfits. (more…)

GTA 1 And 2 Rated For PS3, PS Vita And PSP

GTA 1 And 2 Rated For PS3, PS Vita And PSPRockstar knows that having a strong back catalog of solid video games which have stood the test of time is one surefire way of making a quick buck, as it is one cow that is worth milking many times over. Just take a look at Nintendo and their library of games and you will know what I mean. As gamers look forward to GTA 5, here we are with information that Rockstar will be making use of their Grand Theft Auto franchise, namely the first two Grand Theft Auto games, where they will release it to the general populace on the following platforms – the PSP, PS Vita and PS3, with the first GTA having picked up a Mature rating, while GTA2 was on the receiving end of a more lenient Teen rating.

Other than that, it seems that nothing definitive has been revealed from anyone at Rockstar concerning these ESRB ratings, as the ESRB themselves could be said to have jumped the gun considering neither game shows up any more. Perhaps Rockstar is waiting for a far better time to make an announcement with the recent GTA V trailer revealed, no?

Grand Theft Auto Invades Spotify, iTunes With Complete Music Playlists

Grand Theft Auto Invades Spotify, iTunes With Complete Music Playlists

Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5 is still a couple of months away from being released, but one thing I’m sure we all can’t wait for is to hear what addictive tunes the company has lined up for us in their latest game. Ever since the original Grand Theft Auto, we’re sure you’ve thoroughly enjoyed the game’s multiple radio stations, which is why Rockstar has just released all of the radio stations from a number of the GTA series.

Music tracks from Grand Theft Auto IV all the way down to Grand Theft Auto III and even Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has been compiled in both a Spotify and iTunes playlist for you to listen to on either service. Rockstar notes not all of the tracks included in each GTA game will be included in these playlists as some songs aren’t yet available on their respective platforms. (more…)

GTA radio brings its broadcasts to iTunes and Spotify

GTA radio brings its broadcasts on iTunes and Spotify

From Vice to San Andreas and on to Liberty City, Rockstar Games has digitally boxed up playlists for eight of its Grand Theft Auto titles which are now available on Spotify and iTunes. “As a service for all GTA fans” — and to keep them chomping at the bit for the incoming sequel — Rockstar has curated over 70 playlists from notable faux stations like Radio Espantoso, The Vibe 98.8 and K-Jah. The games studio was limited by the songs that were currently available, so there’s a few omissions from both the streaming service and Apple’s music store. Once you’ve got over that initial disappointment, head to Rockstar’s site to sample the last ten years of GTA’s drive-time listening.
