Amazing Zombie Pumpkin Display at The New York Botanical Garden

You may or may not be aware, but the New York Botanical Gardens sets up a giant carved pumpkin display every year. It’s always cool, but this year’s version is really amazing. The masters of carving at Villafane Studios even designed and built a 6-foot-tall pumpkin zombie. Even better, a Zombie with its insides falling out… plus, a bunch of pumpkin undead coming out of the ground.

The whole thing looks really creepy and awesome. Three of the largest pumpkins grown in the U.S. were carved to make the display. Just one of them weighed 1,872 pounds. That sure would have made a lot of pumpkin pies.

This amazing display will be up until October 31. If you get the chance, go see them before they are gone.

I Want to Meet These Amazing Pumpkin Carvers

Marc Evan and Chris Soria are amazing artists who can do more with a pumpkin than you can with a pen and paper and/or photoshop. Thing Pumpkin Statue: The Fantastic Gourds

Thing is one of Marvel’s coolest superheros. Well, aside from Spidey, Wolverine, Iron Man, the Hulk and… Okay, so he’s not an A-list Marvel superhero, but he’s still pretty awesome in my book. He’s definitely the coolest member of The Fantastic Four.

And that is probably why redditor Wizardtig created this life-sized version made from 11 busted-up pumpkins. I have to say, pumpkins make some surprisingly good Thing skin. This statue stands 6’4″ tall, and is even built on a custom wood platform.

The whole thing is lit up from inside and you just know that the neighborhood kids are loving this. Awesome job, Wizardtig. You know how to use smashed pumpkins better than anybody.

Bleeding Skull Candle is Bloody Cool and Perfect for Halloween

Turn the lights out and light your candles. It’s Halloween in a matter of days and we all know that dark houses set the mood for a creepier atmosphere.

And what better candle could you possibly get for this ghoulish time of the year than this Bleeding Skull Candle from ThinkGeek?

Bleeding Skull CandleThe ‘bleeding’ part of its name isn’t just a name, because that’s what the candle actually does. Light it up and watch with horror as blood slowly pours out from one of its eye sockets.

The longer it burns, the more blood there will be.

It might be kind of difficult to clean up but it’s one of the funnest candles I’ve ever seen to date. Priced at $12.99(USD) It’s one of the many fun items you can find at ThinkGeek.

Everything You Need To Make Your Own Halloween Candy (And Save)

Halloween is almost here and if your Christmas shopping tradition is any indication, you’ve probably also left your candy buying to the last minute. But why continue to fill Hershey and the Mars family’s wealthy pockets with your hard-earned cash when a little doi-it-your-selfing can result in big savings, and only slightly disappointed neighborhood kids. Nothing Says Halloween Like a Bleeding Skull Candle

Remember the scene in Hamlet where he delivers an impassioned soliloquy to his dead friend’s skull? Yeah, that was fine. But now wouldn’t that scene have been vastly improved if Yorick’s skull had started spontaneously spouting blood from its eye sockets? More »
