Halo 2 Anniversary Rumored, Halo 5 Could Be Pushed To 2015

halo-infinity-575x316Halo 2 was released back in 2004, meaning that the game is about 10 years old now. What this also means is that there are probably plenty of gamers out there who have fond memories of the game and if the rumors are to be believed, a Halo 2 Anniversary edition is expected to make its way onto the Xbox One later this year, although when exactly remains a mystery. This rumor comes courtesy of NeoGAF where it was suggested that Halo 2 Anniversary will be one of Microsoft’s biggest exclusives of the year, and where the game will have its effects and graphics remastered to bring it in line with the Xbox One.

Assuming this is the case, gamers will definitely have something to look forward to, even if Halo 2 is a game that they have played and completed many times over. As for Halo 5, the rumors claim that Microsoft might be delaying the game until 2015 and that the beta will most likely launch in November. This seems to contradict our earlier report in which Microsoft reassured gamers that Halo 5 was on track for 2014, although their wording claimed that our Halo journey would begin in 2014, so we’re not sure if they’re talking about its beta or the actual release. Either way take it with a grain of salt for now, and hopefully we will hear more from Microsoft regarding its release.

Halo 5 On Track For 2014 Release

Halo 5 On Track For 2014 ReleaseMicrosoft has managed to build a pretty popular and iconic franchise for its Xbox platform with the Halo game. Its original developers, Bungie, have since passed the torch over to 343 Industries and if you were looking forward to additional Halo content, 2014 will be the year you’ll want to look forward to as Microsoft has revealed that the game will be making its way onto the Xbox One come 2014. This information comes by way of Rob Semsey, who tweeted, “Xbox Wire today mentioned a few 2014 titles; Halo on Xbox One not listed due to official name of the next title not announced yet.” This tweet was followed by another which said, “Rest assured your next Halo journey WILL begin in 2014. #staycalm”

The name of the next Halo game remains unknown for now as Microsoft has not confirmed the title yet, which is why it is tentatively known as Halo 5 currently. A specific release date was not provided by Microsoft either but we will keep our eyes peeled for more information. Halo 5 will not be the first Halo title to be released by 343 Industries as the developer had released Halo 4 back in 2012, so Halo 5 will be the company’s second effort. So far Halo 4 has been met with positive reviews so it will be interesting to see if 343 Industries will be able to keep up the momentum of Halo 5 and the rest of the Halo franchise for the future.

Halo Xbox One Story Details Leaked On Microsoft Store

Prior to the announcement of the Xbox One, gamers knew a new title was already in the works for the next-generation console which would allow us to play as Master Chief as he battles whoever is the current risk to the galaxy. We knew there’d be a new Halo, but for those of us who actually care more about its story over its multiplayer, we didn’t exactly know what the game would be about. Thankfully, Microsoft has finally accidentally shed a little bit of light on where the next Halo will take us. (more…)

Next-gen Halo title announced for Xbox One: runs at 60 fps, available in 2014 (video)

Nextgen Halo title announced for Xbox One

What could be better than a live action Halo TV-series? Why, a fully fledged next-generation sequel, of course. Microsoft has confirmed that a new Halo game is making its way to the Xbox One, calming the doubts of fans who were concerned that the franchise was shifting to less traditional platforms. According to a Microsoft rep, this next-gen Halo (actual name to be determined) will not only “take full advantage of the power and flexibility of Xbox One,” but will also be buffered by MS’ cloud computing and, in a first for the franchise, run at a “blistering” 60 fps. Look for it to launch sometime in 2014.

Update: Ballmer and Co. just published the video online and we’ve slotted it in right after the break.
