Half-Life Gets the Stained Glass Treatment

Fans of the Half-Life series will immediately recognize the Lambda logo in this image. But this isn’t just some patch on Gordon Freeman’s uniform, no. This is a handmade work of art – a geeky stained glass masterpiece if you ask me.

half life stained glass

It was made by Evan Daniels of Martian Glasswork – the same man behind the Iron Man and Master Chief stained glass works featured here before. This window measures 25″ x 25″ and was cut from 34 individual pieces of glass. Each of the textures in the center of the symbol is unique, which really makes an already special piece just that much more special.

This one-of-a-kind piece is available over on Etsy for $500(USD). I’m surprised the guys at Valve haven’t snatched it up to put it alongside their life-size TF2 gun and their Portal turret replica.

Princess Peach Rug: Your Princess is on Another Carpet

After a hard day’s work in the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario likes nothing better than to come home to his love, Princess Peach. Though I didn’t realize that he wanted to stomp all over her like some unwanted Goombah.

Cinnamon Bun Soaps Look Way Too Real

While I love cinnamon buns as much as the next guy, I have to say that I’d be sorely disappointed if I bit into one of these pastries. You see, what you’re looking at here isn’t a cinnamon bun at all. It’s an insanely accurate replica of a cinnamon bun, made from soap.

They’re even made with actual cinnamon to give them that authentic scent. Just don’t try to eat one, unless you want to fill your mouth with moisturizing vegan soap. Yuck. These detailed cinnamon bun soaps are made by Aubrey Elizabeth Apothecary, and are sure to fool even the most avid of pastry connoisseurs.

They sell for $6.75(USD) for a set of two, which is actually cheaper than getting two Cinnabons – though much less tasty. And when you’re done not eating these, you can find a number of other deceptive food soaps over on Aubrey’s Etsy shop, including such delights as gummy bear, and bacon and egg soap.

I guess this is one surefire way to lose weight, right?

Metal Master Chief: I Am Pewter Man

Halo fans will want to break open their piggy banks right now and rush over to Etsy to get their hands on this wondrous metal statuette of the game’s protagonist, Master Chief.

metal master chief 1

This 6-inch-tall Master Chief statue was hand-cast out of almost 1 pound of pewter by artist Donald James. It’s truly a sight to behold. Chief himself was cast in 9 separate components, and then soldered together to form a single statuette.

This metal-man also comes with your choice of two weapons – a rifle and a side arm, though you can purchase more weapons if you’d like to fully outfit his arsenal. Personally, I would need to have both an assault rifle and an energy sword.

The pewter Master Chief sells for $250(USD) over on Etsy. And if gold is your thing, Donald will bling out your Master Chief with 24k gold plating for another $100.

Doctor Who Plush 11th Doctor Pillow: Pillows Are Cool

I know that many female Doctor Who fans would love to snuggle up with Matt Smith, the 11th Doctor. But since he’s probably never going to show up in your home, here is the next best thing. A plush pillow that looks just like him.

This 14″ x 11″ pillow wears no fez, but he does have the bow tie and the rest of his “cool” outfit. It is handmade from top quality fabrics like anti-pill fleece, allergen-free fiber-fill and eco-friendly felt. It’s all stitched, no glue or anything like that. The Doctor would surely approve.

You can find it at telahmarie’s Etsy store for just $30 (USD), where you can also find the 4th Doctor and various other geeky pillows.

TARDIS Blanket is Warmer on the Inside

When you don’t have a TARDIS with which to travel through time and space, the next best thing might be a TARDIS shaped blanket. Instead of walking into the TARDIS and hitting some controls, you can just get in and pull this blanket over your head and let your dreams take you to distant alien worlds for adventure.

This blanket was made by Kristi from RainyMondayTumblr. It’s over 7.5-feet-long and has some nice extra touches. The windows and light glow in the dark, and the light itself was made with sparkly fabric. This thing took about two months to make.

The person who received this blanket is one lucky so and so. I wish I could sleep in it. With Amy Pond preferably.

Pegasus Knight Armor Hoodie Offers Killer Looks with None of the Danger

Did you always want to be a knight back in medieval times? Well, it was probably pretty overrated, what with the plague, and constant risk of being skewered by your enemies on a daily basis. But now you can look like a medieval knight without any such challenges, and keep warm while doing it.

This awesome handmade Pegasus Knight Armor Hoodie is made by South Korean textile artist Catherine Kim of I Am Knight. The unisex hoodie is made from durable Lycra, “tacter” and “thermo,” whatever those materials are. But does it really matter? It’s an armor hoodie – with Pegasus’ wings on the helmet.

And if for some reason you don’t feel like wearing the whole thing, the wings, mask, and sleeves are removable – but why would you want to? Just check out those spiky laced vambrace sleeves. Nobody’s gonna mess with you while you walk through dark alleys wearing this thing.

You can get your grubby little hands on the Pegasus Armor Hoodie over on Etsy for $348(USD) in S, M, L or XL sizes.

28-Foot Long Fourth Doctor Who Scarf: Is It Long Enough?

Like many of you out there, my favorite Doctor Who is the fourth one, who was played by Tom Baker. He’s quintessentially the Doctor Who for me, because I used to watch him as a kid on PBS. One of the coolest features of Tom Baker’s incarnation was his impossibly long scarf. Alex decided to make one for himself – though at 28-feet, 1-inch-long, it is slightly exaggerated.

It’s somewhat cumbersome, but it’s the Fourth Doctor, so how can you go wrong? Oh, and that length doesn’t include tassels. At this size, I’m sure this scarf could double as coat, wrap or maybe even a TARDIS cozy.

Alex needs to make more, and sell them because I’d get one for sure. I suppose you could also recruit your grandma or mother to knit you one.

Kirby Amigurumi Doesn’t Suck

Check out this Kirby amigurumi. Isn’t he adorable? Of course he is. Well, when he isn’t kicking your butt in Super Smash Bros. that is. Kirby sucked in that game. Literally. That’s what I like about Kirby. He can suck up his enemies and spit them out. If you are a fan of Kirby, you’ll want to cuddle with this cute little guy.

This pink puffy dude was handmade by Etsy artist Emilie Meguid who will even customize it for you if you request it.

He is a bunch of crocheted fun waiting to happen – that’s what he is. Just imagine the adventures that the pair of you will have together, snuggling in bed, snuggling on the couch, snuggling while you play the latest Kirby game…

Symbol Audio Tabletop HiFi: Back to the Future

When it comes to speakers, retro designs can look pretty great. Check out the Symbol Audio Tabletop HiFi, a tabletop audio system that wouldn’t look out of place in a pad from the 1960s. I’m sure that Don Draper would approve.

Each one of these luxury speakers is handmade from wood, and would be welcome in any modern or retro pad. While it may have vintage looks, the audio isn’t from the past. Inside are two 4-inch full-range drivers with titanium cones, and a 5.25-inch subwoofer, powered by a Class D amplifier, rated at 8-watts-per-channel for the full-ranges and 15.5-watts for the sub.

Unfortunately, the Tabletop HiFi doesn’t have wireless support built in – it’s only got an 1/8″ stereo mini input jack. That means you’ll need an Airport Express or other wireless-to-analog converter if you want to stream tunes from your mobile devices or computer.

The speaker comes in a number of different colors and finishes, and you can mix-and-match speaker grille and cabinet finishes. If you like the way the Tabletop HiFi looks, you’ll have to save up, because they sell for $1,800(USD).
