Bethesda: Work on Dawnguard and Hearthfire for PS3 to continue after Dragonborn

A few days ago we shared what seemed like good news that the Skyrim Dragonborn DLC would be arriving for the PlayStation 3 and PC come early 2013. While that’s great news for PS3 gamers who have had the short end of the stick when it comes to Skyrim DLCs, the question we’re sure many are wondering is when the previous two Skyrim DLCs will arrive on the PS3, if at all. After all given that it would seem like little progress has been made with Dawnguard and Hearthfire, we can’t blame PS3 gamers for thinking that the previous two DLCs are lost to them. The good news is that if you still have a hankering for Dawnguard and Hearthfire come 2013, Bethesda has announced that they will continue working on the previous two DLCs once Dragonborn has been released. Bethesda still working on Dawnguard and Hearthfire DLCs for PlayStation 3

We’re sure that many PlayStation 3 gamers are still waiting on the Skyrim: Dawnguard DLC to arrive on their console, although based on the comments we’ve received so far, it seems that a good many have given up as well. Unfortunately if you were hoping for good news, you might be disappointed as Bethesda’s Pete Hines has announced via his Twitter that Skyrim DLCs for the PlayStation 3 – Dawnguard and the recently released Hearthfire – are still a no-go. He does not have any new information to share with us at the moment although the good news is that they are still working on it. This is despite previous reports which have suggested that Dawnguard and Hearthfire may never arrive on the PlayStation 3. We guess it’s good of Pete Hines to keep fans and gamers informed even though there wasn’t any good news to share. In any case we’ll keep our eyes peeled for Dawnguard and/or Hearthfire updates for the PlayStation 3, so check back with us at a later date where hopefully we will have some good news to share with you guys.

Xbox LIVE down, Skyrim Hearthfire release to blame?

Some of our readers have already commented that Xbox LIVE is down, and they are unable to download the latest Skyrim Hearthfire DLC, although early birds who managed to snag the proverbial worm in the form of the 75MB Skyrim Hearthfire download should be able to enjoy their Minecraft-inspired DLC right now on the Xbox 360. As for the rest of the masses, chances are you are not able to connect or log-in to Xbox LIVE. Heck, even the official Xbox LIVE status page points out that problems are being reported even as you read this. Microsoft, obviously, is aware of the situation and are working hard to make sure all those gremlins in the system are being weeded out, although Microsoft has yet to determine the cause of Xbox LIVE being down at such a crucial moment.

It does not matter whether you use the online website or your console, you will most probably be unable to sign in to Xbox LIVE while it is down. Right now, folks living in the UK, France and the US have confirmed running into issues when attempting to sign in. We sure hope that this niggling issue will be fixed – and soon. Are you affected by the downtime on Xbox LIVE, or are you one of those who managed to snag Skyrim Hearthfire earlier this morning?

Skyrim: Hearthfire DLC now available for download on Xbox 360

Good news gamers, if you were looking forward to playing the new Skyrim DLC, Hearthfire, as promised it has been released and is now available from the Marketplace and will cost gamers 400 MP and is about 75MB to download. As usual, the DLC will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 and should be making its way onto other platforms at a later date. However given that Dawnguard has yet to be released on the PlayStation 3 due to issues and with Bethesda not being particularly thrilled at its performance, we’re not sure if Hearthfire will meet the same fate. Either way we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled and hopefully Hearthfire will prove to be a story with a happy ending for PlayStation 3 gamers. For those unfamiliar, Hearthfire is the second DLC for Skyrim and introduces the ability for gamers to build their own houses, bringing a new aspect to the game that will deviate from the usual questing and killing of monsters.

Skyrim Hearthfire arrives on Xbox LIVE this September 4th

For those of you who are absolute fans of Skyrim to the end, you would do well to mark September 4th on your respective calendars. After all, this is when Skyrim’s latest game add-on known as Hearthfire will be released. This is not surprising considering how the Hearthfire trademark was filed recently, paving the possible name of a new Skyrim DLC which has been proven correct, so that you can remove that grain of salt from your mouth now. In Hearthfire, you are able to add a more personal touch to the Skyrim universe, where you can purchase virtual land and build your own home right from the ground up without the need to obtain an engineering or architectural degre.

Your imagination’s the limit, where it can range from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound that comes complete with an armory, alchemy laboratory, stable, and garden amongst others. A new range of tools such as the drafting table and carpenter’s workbench are able to turn quarried stone, clay, and sawn logs into magnificent structures and furnishings. You will be able to pick up Hearthfire on Xbox LIVE from next week onwards for 400 Microsoft Points a pop.

Hearthfire trademark filed, possible name for next Skyrim DLC?

While Skyrim: Dawngard has yet to make its way onto the PlayStation 3, due to it being not good enough, it seems that those who are enjoying the DLC might have another DLC to look forward to in the future. In a trademark filed by Bethesda’s parent company, Zenimax, the name Hearthfire has been revealed. Given that the name Hearthfire is used to refer to the 9th month of the in-game calendar, the name should not come as a surprise and to a certain extent it is rather appropriate. Of course details of the Hearthfire DLC is pretty zero at this point, assuming it is even a DLC to begin with. However if and when it does launch, thanks to Bethesda’s deal with Microsoft, Xbox 360 owners can expect to enjoy it as an exclusive before it makes its way onto other platforms. In any case we certainly hope that Bethesda is able to sort out the issue Dawngard is having with the PlayStation 3 platform as we’re sure that players would rather play Dawngard than have to wait for the next DLC, which may or may not have issues with the PlayStation 3 as well. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more info, but until then what do you guys think Hearthfire could feature?
