Netatmo Urban Weather Station

Ever heard of Netatmo in the past? Well, neither have we, but here we are with the Netatmo Urban Weather Station, which has just launched with national retailer Brookstone. Just what the heck is the Urban Weather Station all about? Well, it has been touted to be the first personal weather station in the market that will boast of air quality sensors, and even better is the fact that since just about everyone and their grandfather owns a smartphone, the Netatmo Urban Weather Station will also play nice with the iPhone, iPad and Android-powered devices without missing a beat. In fact, the Urban Weather Station is no stranger to being under the spotlight, especially when it has been recognized for its innovative design and received three Innovations and Engineering Honoree Awards at the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year.

You might ask yourself whether you actually have need for the Urban Weather Station or not, considering how you can always pull such data from an app on your smartphone, or refer to the desktop in your home or office which tends to be on most of the time. Well, the Netatmo Urban Weather Station intends to fill a niche market, where it enables users to keep track of track indoor as well as outdoor environmental elements, and these will include temperature, air quality, humidity, barometric pressure, and CO2 concentration among others, now how about that?

Specially developed for the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android-powered devices, the Urban Weather Station is capable of recording and wirelessly transmit data over a Wi-Fi network to the Netatmo App for future viewing, regardless of where you are. The asking price for the Netatmo Urban Weather Station is a relatively affordable $179, especially when you take into consideration the novelty factor attached to it. Surely you now have a more accurate assistant in letting you know whether today would be ideal to hold that family BBQ that you have been mulling over…

Compact Core Exerciser

We are about to finish up the first quarter of the year, so here is the big question – how is your New Year’s Resolution of losing some weight around the waist coming along? Assuming you have already signed up for a gym membership, but somehow or rather, the rigors of life have sapped whatever energy that you have left, leaving you too lazy to hit the treadmill because of the additional amount of travel that you need to do, perhaps you need some motivation closer to home – right smack in the middle of your living room, in fact. The $249.95 Compact Core Exerciser fits the bill perfectly, and judging by its name, you know it is not going to take up plenty of space.

The Compact Core Exerciser requires no electricity at all, where it will simulate you cantering on a horse, in an effort to strengthen and tone the core muscles. You will sit on the padded saddle, rest your feet on a rubberized bar, and shift your weight backward in order to get the device’s drivewheel in motion. Most of the time, the saddle will rotate at a moderate 40 rpm or less, and you are required to make use of those lumbar muscles, abs, glutes, and thighs of yours, in an effort to build core strength so that you will be able to minimize the kind of back injuries that plague humankind, all the while improving balance and posture. Hammacher states that a 10-minute session is able to burn as many calories as 100 situps, or the equivalent of a one-hour walk.

Talk Dock merges the old and the new

Ah, to be young again! I am quite sure that the dusty old landline phone in your home would wish the clock to be wound back by a few decades, before the scourge of mobile phones and smartphones, which have more or less turned the landline into a redundant expense for most homes, at least in developed countries. Remember those hours that you spent yakking away with your best friend over the phone, so much so that other folks start to ask your parents when they meet them, “How come your house phone is always engaged?” Well, the $36 Talk Dock will bring the old and the new in one device, where it comes in the form of a telephone receiver, doubling up as a dock and charging station for your iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, or iPhone 5.

For folks who are not an Apple aficionado, fret not – the Talk Dock receiver itself is prepared for such a situation, where it boasts of a 3.5mm audio jack which can plug into any phone’s headset port, and not only that, it can be detached from the base for you to bring it with you regardless of where you are.

Hanging Cocoon helps you relax

After a particularly hard day at work, all that you want to do is sit down, put your legs up, and relax. After all, “getting away from it all” is a must-do for you when you clock out at the office, and there are different ways employed by various people when it comes to de-stressing, and here is the $399.95 Hanging Cocoon that you might want to consider, instead of a monthly membership at the local gym.

The Hanging Cocoon is actually a glorified hammock, although it does have its fair share of advantages, which is why it was so named (and of course, priced). The Hanging Cocoon will cocoon (hence its name) its user within a private suspended sanctuary, making it the ideal spot to read, unwind, or perform a personal reflection session. It has been inspired by the hanging, tapering nests of weaver birds, boasting of a semi-enclosed design that makes it equally private for both adults and children alike. Capable of supporting up to 440 lbs. when hung, the eight-section aluminum ring allows you to assemble in minutes.

Koziol Unplugged Coffee Maker

Over the years, I am quite sure that you have heard medical research being done on coffee drinkers – some say that drinking one cup of coffee a day is going to help lower the chances of heart attack, while some time down the road, another report says otherwise, placing you in two minds as to whether to continue to drink coffee or not. I say bollocks to all of that, and just settle for what you want to drink, as you can never tell whether today is going to be your last day here on earth or not. Having said that, you might want to check out the £34.99 Koziol Unplugged Coffee Maker which comes in lime green, red, white or black colors.

All you need to do is fill up the Koziol Unplugged Coffee Maker with coffee (or other flavors if you so desire), add some boiling water, and you’re good to go. Sporting an extremely classy design, it is the de facto coffee maker to purchase especially if you happen to be a young, working single who is just starting out in life, living in an extremely cramped apartment at a rent that would cause your father to cough up blood when he hears about it. Best of all is, this is one coffee maker that keeps on working even when there is no electricity in the region, thanks to its traditional drip-style form factor.

A Frame of Any Size

Sometimes we just need to change up the décor in our worlds. Maybe it is time for some new blinds or maybe you need to paint an accent wall in a room. How about rearranging furniture? Makes it feel like a new room. Switching up the décor and furniture often leads to moving pictures on the wall. Maybe you have a new one you would like to highlight. Inevitably the new and old are not the same size. Who wants to go get a new print framed? Not me.

I will make an investment in a one-size-fits-all Picture Frame. OK, so it is not perfect for the Mona Lisa or any work of art that may be worth anything. But it may be fun to change up your look. A guy named AndyZ built a prototypeof this frame and submitted to the audience at Quirky.com which chose it to go into development. We shall see if they use wood for a more natural look or turn to lower cost options. Sure this frame is not for everyone, but for a household where pics on the wall are constantly changing (i.e. kid filled house) it would be a fun way to sort of add another dimension to the hanging. Sizes yet TBD. Check progress of the project on Quirky and maybe see it in a store near you sometime in the future

Paintball takes on a new form factor with the Airow Gun

Let us have a show of hands here – how many of you out there love a game of paintball? You know, hiding around the corner, hoping to get that vital shot in so that the rest of your mates will be able to take over the strategic point. Well, I am quite sure that paintball enthusiasts are more than familiar with regular paintball equipment, but since you want to stand out from the rest of the crowd always, here is the Airow Gun paintball attachment that will definitely add color (in more ways than one) to any paintball course.

Basically, the Airow Gun paintball attachment is a unique and innovative evolution in the paintball industry, where you should be able to increase your paintball gun accuracy with every release of the string. I am not quite sure whether this would be tantamount to cheating or not in anybody’s books, but better equipment has always been the quest of the pure sportsperson who wants to break limits, eventually merging man and machine as one.

Handheld Rechargeable Power Scrubber

Some things in life are said to require extra effort on your part to get the job done, and getting rid of stains on the carpet can be considered to be one of those times. Well, if you have always wanted to pick up a scrubber of your own, look no further than the $89.95 Handheld Rechargeable Power Scrubber, which has been touted to thoroughly clean and polish without any need for elbow grease, chemicals, or heck, to be held back by a restrictive electrical cord.

This is a Hammacher Schlemmer exclusive, where the Handheld Rechargeable Power Scrubber itself will be accompanied by reusable, interchangeable cleaning pads that will differ one from another in terms of coarseness, allowing it to handle a variety of situations, ranging from heavy-duty grime on a grill, to wiping off scuffs from a tile floor, or perhaps even to gently polish that glass table of yours without introducing an entire family of scratches. The palm-sized scrubber will work quietly, as it will not produce unpleasant vibrations or noise, and thanks to its iron-shaped head and cordless operation, it will be a snap to use the Handheld Rechargeable Power Scrubber in tight corners. One Stop Chop Cutting Board

Since we are all about convergence devices these days, why not let the humble chopping board at home also feature a similar idea? Thinkgeek has just the thing for your kitchen with the $39.99 One Stop Chop Cutting Board, where it comes across as a raised cutting board that has storage drawers right under it. Yes sir, this means you can always keep your essential chopping, slicing and dicing utensils within the cutting board itself without having to worry about where the knife went.

Made out of bamboo, its surface has been treated with mineral oil to make it highly durable and beautiful. A trio of prep drawers can be pulled out so you are able to slide chopped food in them if you so desire, minimizing the amount of cups or bowls around the cutting board area of the kitchen. Heck, you can even opt to bring the entire One Stop Chop Cutting Board over to the stove for easy and spill-free cooking, especially when you have finely chopped onions ready and waiting to be thrown into the nearest pot for that lovely onion soup recipe.

Crow’s Feet Reducing Skin Toner

Everyone would love to remain young forever, which is why great monarchs and heroes of the past have always been on the lookout for the next big thing, and would give up their entire fortune if they succeeded in discovering the location of the fabled fountain of youth (which does not exist, so don’t bother). Well, other than adhering to all of the other principles of good health such as eating right, getting enough exercise, and sleeping well, what else can you do? Sure, having the right supplements in your body system is a decent idea, but how about a little bit of external help?

This is where the $139.95 Crow’s Feet Reducing Skin Toner comes in handy, as this particular device would tighten skin while help diminish wrinkles around the eyes, all without having to send you under the surgeon’s knife for a procedure in the operating theater. It is said that the Crow’s Feet Reducing Skin Toner relies on similar technology that is used by professional aestheticians, where it will emit safe, gentle micro currents which in turn stimulate muscle contractions so that it can help strengthen and tighten the skin while reducing wrinkles in the process. No idea on whether it works as advertised, but hey, it carries the Hammacher Schlemmer Lifetime Guarantee so that goes to say something.
