Invisiplug Helps Hide Your Power Strip With Wood Grain Patterns

Invisiplug Helps Hide Your Power Strip With Wood Grain Patterns

One of the biggest challenges any adult can face in their lifetime is how best to hide their power strips that they have sprinkled all over their home. Being able to suck power out of your wall for more than just two devices is a necessity these days, but power strips can certainly be an eye sore, especially if you have hardwood floors. We guess that’s why the Invisiplug was conceived.

The Invisiplug is a standard 6-port power strip, but instead of coming in a disgusting grey color, it comes in a number of realistic wood grain patterns. We emphasize these are patterns and not power strips that are made out of wood, which could certainly be cause for concern due to its potential to be a fire hazard. The Invisiplug is available in three different shades of wood grain patterns, making it a little bit easier to match with your hardwood floors. (more…)

BlueBulb Blutetooth Bulb

BlueBulb Blutetooth BulbIs a light bulb a light bulb, and is it capable of anything more? The correct answer would be a resounding “Yes!”. After all, just like how we have seen last year when Philips introduced their Hue LED lighting home system that can be controlled by a compatible smartphone and tablet device, so too, has there been advances made in the world of light bulbs. Take for instance, BlueBulb‘s Bluetooth Bulb, which is an LED light bulb which allows you to control and color-customize it via a Bluetooth connection as well as help from an iOS app.

This BlueBulb will be able to fit into any standard lamp socket, and it should not take too long to set up the free app on your iOS-powered device before you get that crazed Emperor Palpatine look on your face, screaming, “Power! Unlimited power!!!” as you use your iOS device to control the way the BlueBulb Bluetooth bulb works in your home. Apparently, you are able to change its colors using the bar, with the choice of up to a million different colors, now how about that?

Trongs Help Keep Your Fingers Clean While Eating Messy Foods

We’re a little over a month into spring, which means we’re getting closer and closers to summer, or as I like to refer to it as backyard BBQ season. There’s nothing better than spending a relaxing Sunday afternoon in your backyard, grilling up some hot dogs, hamburgers and various other red meats. But two things barbecues should always have are ribs and chicken, although they can have your guests question their relation to you if you get various sauces all over your face, neck and shirt. That’s where Trongs come in.

Trongs are small plastic apparatuses that fit onto your index, middle fingers and your thumb to allow you to grab onto your sauce-filled food without dirtying your delicate digits. Trongs are currently available for purchase at Amazon and are said to be the great for eating sushi, shrimp cocktail, potato chips and more. We just hope the deafening sounds of laughter pointed in your direction as you use Trongs at a social gathering is well worth it as we’re sure no one will take you serious if you’re trying to discuss a serious topic while clamping your Trongs on a sour cream & onion potato chip.

DirecTV Launching Voice Search Feature To iOS, Android App This Summer

DirecTV Launching Voice Search Feature To iOS, Android App This Summer

If you’re not an avid couch potato, then you probably have a hard time finding what to watch on a regular basis. Sure – you can go the safe route and watch popular shows like Game of Thrones and Mad Men, but did you also know there’s a channel out there that shows reruns of Good TImes on a regular basis? DirecTV is going to be making searching for programming on its service a little easier this summer when they release their voice search feature for their smartphone app.

DirecTV’s voice search function is a step above its DVR’s ability to already search for content on its service, expect now you can talk into your smartphone in order to help find what you want to watch instead of spending several minutes typing in through text. The feature will be able to recognize natural language commands instead of specific cue phrases, which has always felt unnatural when using services like Xbox’s Kinect. You’ll also be able to search for on-demand, pay-per-view and upcoming content while also filtering the results based on the actors, title and other variables.

Nest Energy Services link home cooling to utilities’ cloud data

Nest Energy Services link thermostats with utilities through the cloud

As clever as the Nest Learning Thermostat can be, its intelligence only extends as far as the front door: it hasn’t really been aware of how neighbors or the seasons affect our power bills. Nest Labs is improving that connection to the outside world through Nest Energy Services, a new program that links its device to the collective, cloud-based knowledge of utility companies. When owners are with an Energy Services-aware provider, the thermostat will know when to brace for an energy “rush hour” and automatically limit its cooling during peak (read: expensive) periods. It also gives a heads-up for seasonal discounts that fine-tune the temperature schedule over the course of a few weeks. Unlike previous utility-guided approaches, Nest users can always retake control if they genuinely can’t stand the heat.

Only Austin Energy, Green Mountain Energy, Reliant and Southern California Edison have lined up for the synced climate control so far, although Nest is sweetening the deal by expanding utility-based discounts for the thermostat itself. Customers of National Grid can get an immediate $100 rebate through Nest, while those who sign up with Reliant can still receive their thermostats for free with certain plans. The deals are calculated tradeoffs for companies likely to recoup their investment down the road, but they could represent big wins for homeowners still jittery about paying up front to save money later.

Samsung Evolution Kit To Transform Smart TV Experience in South Korea

Samsung Evolution Kit To Transform Smart TV Experience in South Korea Just when you thought that things could not get any better with the Smart TV in your living room, along comes Samsung Electronics with the announcement of its 2013 Evolution Kit that has been made available in its home country, South Korea. The Evolution Kit will allow Samsung Smart TVs purchased last year to be able to enjoy the latest Smart TV features and technologies, which is basically an upgrade to bring it up to par with 2013 technology, all without having to purchase a spanking new TV.

Upon installation of the Evolution Kit, you will be able to enjoy simplified content discovery, more natural ways to control the TV and faster speeds thanks to Samsung’s 2013 Smart TV features such as Smart Hub, S Recommendation with Voice Interaction, enhanced Smart Interaction and a new quad-core processor. This is a novel idea, but I believe that most of the time, improvements that end users will see would most probably remain on the software and firmware side of things rather than the hardware. What do you think of the Samsung Evolution Kit – will other manufacturers follow in Samsung’s footsteps and do the same thing as well? Do bear in mind that the Samsung Evolution Kit will play nice with certain 2012 Samsung Smart models only, including the ES7000 and ES8000.

LG Roboking Vacuum Cleaner Is Voice Activated

LG Roboking Vacuum Cleaner Is Voice ActivatedWe have seen our fair share of Roboking vacuum cleaners from LG before, and the South Korean consumer electronics giant is not about to give up on this particular home appliance range just yet. In fact, they are about to forge forward with renewed vigor, thanks to the introduction of a new voice activated vacuum cleaner, going by model numbers VR6281LVMC and VR6282LVMC in South Korea. This is one smart vacuum cleaner which can be operated simply by issuing relevant voice commands. Just like magic, the Roboking will pause whenever you clap your hands twice, and it also boasts of the capability of moving in the same direction as that of the user, in addition to being able to tell just where the source of the voice is. It is said that the new LG Roboking vacuum cleaner boasts of 10% more cleaning efficiency compared to its predecessors, and is also smart enough to take note of where the master corners of the room are, and is far more efficient in tackling obstacles.

There will be dual cameras located on the top and bottom, allowing one to enjoy a faster and smarter cleaning experience, while three ultrasonic sensors will enable it to complete its task faster than ever before. The internal battery is good for 100 minutes of use on a full charge, and it operates relatively quietly at a mere 48 decibels (dB).

Flixster App Launched On Xbox 360 With Support For UltraViolet Videos

Flixster App Launched On Xbox 360 With Support For UltraViolet Videos

Microsoft announced late last year it would be rolling out over 40 new applications onto its Xbox 360 up until the end of spring 2013. One of those applications that was promised to be released was Flixster, which not only helps make your movie choosing a little more social, but the service also integrates with Rotten Tomatoes scores. It looks like Microsoft kept to their promise as Flixster is announcing its application has just officially launched onto the Xbox 360.

The Flixster app is a completely free download and will allow you to make your way through its service through Kinect or voice-based navigation. And for the first time, Flixster is making it possible for users to play back UltraViolet-linked video files in HD. We know there are probably more video-streaming services on the Xbox 360 than you know what to do with, but we’re sure you can somehow fit Flixster into your life if you’d like to learn how well recently released movies are doing, know what your friends want to see, or just watch an UltraViolet video.
