The iSpoon Doubles As A Spoon And A Stylus

The iSpoon Doubles As A Spoon And A StylusIt seems that you can add an “I” in front of anything these days and suddenly it sounds more hip. But what about kitchenware? Well the folks at Umbra might have something for you in the form of the iSpoon which is (as pictured above) a spoon that doubles as a stylus! Yup, the black portion of the spoon is actually a stylus which we imagine will be able to work with your smartphone or tablet device. Considering that smartphones and tablets tend to be pretty popular in the kitchen since recipes and cooking tutorial videos can be easily accessed, how about using the iSpoon to not only cook, but to navigate your mobile device at the same time? This should prevent you from getting food stuff onto your smartphone or tablet while allowing you to stir or taste your food as you go.

The iSpoon was designed by Jordan Murphy and it looks like it is currently out of stock. It is priced at $7 which as far as spoons are concerned, a little pricey, but as far as styluses go, it’s pretty cheap. We’re not sure when Umbra expects to get the iSpoon back in stock, but head on over if you’d like to find out more or to bookmark its page.

Kurukuru Nabe Self-Stirring Pot Is Ideal For The Lazy Chef

If you’re too busy in the kitchen to pay attention to the contents of your boiling pot, then perhaps this Japanese self-stirring pot might be of interest to you. Dubbed the Kurukuru Nabe, this pot was developed by Hideki Watanabe, a dentist from Tobe, Ehime Prefecture. Interestingly despite the title of a self-stirring pot, there isn’t any high-tech wizardry going on behind the scenes. Nope. It seems that all it requires is a grooved insert that allows the contents of the pot when boiling to move in a circular motion, similar to a whirlpool in water.

Not only will this pot help prevent the contents of the pot from boiling over, but it seems that it will be able to accumulate the dirt from vegetables/meat in the middle of the pot, allowing you the chef to fish it out, as opposed to having to scour the entire pot to remove the dirt. The pot launched in Japan in January early this year and has been met with huge success, success that Watanabe never dreamed of. It measures 7” across and is designed for use on gas stoves and is priced around $105. If you want to see the Kurukuru Nabe pot in action, check it out in the video above.

Time Warner Cable Doesnt Believe Gigabit Internet Is In Demand

The FCC’s Chairman Julius Genachoski may have challenged the U.S. to his “Gigabit City Challenge,” which he’s hoping would spark at least one community in every state to offer gigabit Internet, but according to Time Warner Cable, it’s completely unnecessary.

According to Time Warner Cable’s CFO Irene Esteves who spoke at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference, TWC doesn’t believe gigabit Internet is something its customers want. “We’re in the business of delivering what consumers want, and to stay a little ahead of what we think they will want,” she said when asked to comment on the Internet speeds Google Fiber is capable of providing. “We just don’t see the need of delivering that to consumers.” (more…)

Huawei MediaQ M31 Media Streamer Introduced As Samsung Homesync Rival

[MWC 2013] At this year’s MWC, Samsung unveiled its impressive HomeSync, which is a media server powered by Android Jelly Bean. Not to be outdone, Huawei also took the opportunity to announce its media streamer that is being introduced to compete against Samsung’s HomeSync.

The Huawei MediaQ M31 is another Android Jelly Bean-powered media streamer that offers a more compact look when compared to the Samsung HomeSync as it measures 65mm x 65mm x 14mm. Android-powered devices will be able to share photos, stream videos and games to the MediaQ M310, as long as they’re connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

As for its specs, the MediaQ M31 is powered by a quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage space, Wi-Fi, two HDMI ports (one in, one out), microUSB, a 3-in-1 SPDIF/3.5mm/Mic mono port and two USB ports. The MediaQ M31 will also allow you to connect PC and NAS drives located on your network to it, making streaming content available on other machines on your network easy.

FOX Attempting To Ban Dish Network’s Hopper ‘On The Go’ Feature

FOX Attempting To Ban Dish Networks Hopper On The Go Feature

Last year, Dish Network introduced a feature to its DVRs to allow its subscribers to skip commercials. This Auto Hop feature isn’t the only innovation Dish Network has implemented into its DVR as just recently, it has made it possible for its subscribers to watch live television on their mobile devices through the company’s Sling technology. As worthwhile as that feature is, it looks as though FOX is none too pleased with it and has filed for an injection against Dish to have the feature banned.

The reason why FOX has become such a spoilsport is due to the fact Dish Network’s new service breaches its licensing agreement, with Dish infringing on its network’s copyrights. Fox mentions in the filing “paying Dish for a satellite television subscription does not buy anyone the right to receive Fox’s live broadcast signal over the internet or to make copies of Fox programs to watch ‘on the go’ because Dish does not have the right to offer these services to its subscribers in the first place.”

Hopefully FOX’s outrage over this new feature on Dish Network’s Hopper DVR won’t lead them to ban the feature as we’re sure many Dish Network customers are probably enjoying it while they’re away from their TVs.

AOL Dial Up Still A Money Spinner

AOL Dial Up Still A Money SpinnerCome on now, let us have a show of hands here. How many of you still have a landline at home simply because grandpa lives there and he has absolutely no need for a mobile phone, as he does not get out of the home unless it is to attend his friend’s funeral? If you have answered in the affirmative, surely you would be able to remember the good old days when a landline meant you could connect to the Internet via a dial up account. Just in case you are wondering, AOL’s dial up Internet service still exists, and surprise, surprise, it remains one of the major money spinners for the company.

In fact, AOL’s dial up service accounts for majority of the company’s profits, and we’re talking about a cool $500 million here. Some folks even think that their existing dial-up business might even grow should AOL decide to offer enough added value, but in this day and age, that would seem all but impossible. What do you think of dial up connections with those noisy modems?

Logitech TV Cam HD Review

Logitech TV Cam HD ReviewThe Logitech TV Cam HD brings Logitech into a market that is highly desired, but yet poorly served: Skype on the big screen. It is obvious that a lot of people would love using Skype on their TV, and the proliferation large and cheap LCD TVs only makes this idea more pervasive. Although many smart TVs now offer Skype as an integrated option, there are even more HDTVs out there that do not have the option.

Given that TVs can be used for many years, it’s unlikely that those people (probably you, since you are reading this) will upgrade their TVs just to video chat. That’s where the Logitech TV Can HD comes into play. It works with any HDMI-enabled television, can connect to WiFi or Wired Ethernet and promises clear video and good outgoing audio. In this review, we are putting the Logitech TV Cam HD to the test to see if it lives up to the sales pitch. (more…)
