We’ve heard a bit about the Sony Honami phone which will supposed feature an image sensor ranging from 16MP to 20MP, but apart from that, not much else is known. Well thanks to leaked specs, it seems that additional details about the phone have surfaced. For starters the device is expected to be called the Xperia i1 and will come with a 5” Full HD display with Triluminos technology. It will also pack a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU under its hood, 2GB of RAM, a 2,700-3,000mAh battery, will be both water and dust resistant and 10mm thick.
If anything this sounds like a more souped up version of the Sony Xperia Z, with a beefier processor and camera, although we have to wonder if the Xperia i1 Honami will come in the same design, or at least use the same premium materials as the Xperia Z. In any case since none of this can actually be confirmed, we suggest you take this with a grain of salt for now, but based on these alleged specs, what do you guys think of the phone? Would this be a device of interest to you?

Sony’s “Honami” Rumored To Use Same JPEG Algorithm As Future Alpha And NEX Cameras
Posted in: Today's ChiliThere has been a fair bit of rumor concerning an upcoming Sony smartphone with the codename “Honami”. Word has it that this phone is expected to be a Cybershot equivalent of the Sony Ericsson feature phones released back in the day, except that it would sport a whopping 20MP image sensor, which would make it the second largest sensor when compared to the Nokia 808 PureView. In any case according to a rumor from the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, it seems that there is a chance that the Honami’s JPEG engine might be an engine that future Alpha and NEX devices could use as well.
It seems that this new JPEG algorithm was developed for the Honami, but at the same time it is expected to be used in Alpha and NEX cameras as well, and considering that the Alpha and NEX cameras are dedicated camera systems, that is definitely saying a lot with regards to how JPEG images are processed on the phone! While our smartphones certainly are more than capable of nabbing some fantastic shots, quality-wise we’re sure many would agree that some dedicated camera systems would be a better choice. In any case take this with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us at a later date for more updates.

There was a leak on the upcoming quad-core smartphone from Sony Mobile which was was said to feature a 20-megapixel in the works earlier this morning, carrying the nickname the Sony Honami. Wow, a 20-megapixel shooter would definitely place this as a flagship device under Sony’s stable for sure. We have more details on the alleged Sony Honami now, where it reportedly comes with a Sony 1/1.6″ Exmor RS stacked sensor and Cybershot G glass lens. The inclusion of a 1/1.6″ sized camera sensor would obviously make it larger compared to any of its other competitors, albeit for the one found in the Nokia 808 Pureview.
Apart from that, it is whispered that there will also be an all new image processing algorithm as well as revamped camera user interface which is based off the current generation of Sony Cybershot cameras. It is tipped that the automatic scene recognition will get a massive boost in improvement, even more so over the Sony Xperia Z. Will it come with xenon or dual LED flash? Only time will tell, as time is the great confirmer or destroyer of rumors.
