Sony HT-ST7 Soundbar Unveiled For $1,300

Sony HT ST7 Soundbar Unveiled For $1,300One of the main reasons why going to a cinema is often a more enjoyable experience compared to watching a movie back home is that cinemas have huge screens and impressive sound systems that unless one was extremely rich, would be hard to replicate in a home setting. However if you’re looking to attempt to replicate the same sound experience back home, Sony has announced a new soundbar dubbed the HT-ST7 that will set you back a cool $1,300.

According to Sony, the HT-ST7 is expected to provide an “immersive true 7.1 home theater experience”. The soundbar will support Bluetooth connectivity meaning that you will be able to pair Bluetooth devices with it, such as smartphones or tablets. It will also play nicely with NFC devices which we imagine was designed with some of Sony’s Xperia smartphones in mind. The soundbar will feature an aluminum casing and will sport nine independent speaker drivers, seven discrete amplifiers, along with the use of magnetic fluid speakers and S-Master Digital Amplifiers, with audio processing done by Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoders.

The Sony HT-ST7 is now on sale in the US via Sony retail stores and other electronic retailers.

Sony’s HT-ST7 soundbar melds HiFi with Bluetooth and NFC for $1,299

Sony's HTST7 takes on highend soundbars, melds HiFi with connectivity

As of late, Sony’s home theater soundbar offerings haven’t catered to the higher-end of the market, but that changes today. The company’s aluminum-clad HT-ST7 aims to take on speakers that cost much more, while offering NFC-enabled Bluetooth pairing and a plethora of wired connectivity options. The unit features nine drivers powered by seven independent amplifiers, with an included wireless subwoofer that houses dual bass drivers. Sony even opted to have Academy award-winner Paul Ottoson give audio-engineering input, no doubt figuring his golden ears could help the bar better reproduce movie dialogue. AptX and AAC are baked in for wireless music streaming, as is other audio tech including DTS and Dolby Digital for simulated surround sound.

Aside from all that, there’s a built-in IR repeater, dimmable LCD info-screen, a trio of both HDMI and Toslink inputs, as well as a single analog audio input and an audio return channel. The HT-ST7 will run space-concerned home theater enthusiasts $1,299 starting today, which includes a nifty collapsible remote.
