FTC Commissioner Disagrees With FTC’s Decision To Punish Apple

FTC Commissioner Disagrees With FTCs Decision To Punish AppleIn-app purchases are fine if you know what you’re doing and what you’re buying. However children might not necessarily know that they are spending money, or might not think that purchasing something at $0.99 100 times will amount to a lot of money, which is why Apple was recently ordered by the FTC to reimburse parents whose kids made accidental in-app purchases, with the refund expected to sit at a minimum of $32.5 million.

For those who did not claim their refunds, the remainder of the $32.5 million will be going to the FTC. In a way we guess this makes sense as some parents believe that there wasn’t enough controls in place to prevent kids from overspending, but at the same time there are those who felt the ruling was unfair. One of them is actually part of the FTC, Commissioner Joshua D. Wright. (more…)

    HTC M8 Receives Wi-Fi Certification

HTC M8 Receives Wi Fi CertificationThe HTC One has been quite the high end smartphone that really deserves the props for being such a high quality device in its class, but unfortunately, the Taiwanese company has not really managed to dig itself out of the rather deep hole that it is in at the moment although fingers crossed, that will happen sooner rather than later. After all, us consumers would not want to lose out in the smartphone race where flagship models are concerned, with different companies doing their utmost best to be better than the other, right? The HTC One surely deserves a sequel of sorts, and many have deemed it to be the HTC M8. The HTC M8 has already made an appearance over in the Wi-Fi certification database, where it will boast of both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, which is beginning to be the norm for most flagship models these days.

It does seem as though it will also carry the Snapdragon 800 processor alongside an UltraPixel camera, and BoomSound dual stereo speakers. It should also arrive with a far larger display, where rumors point to at least a 5” display, and in all probability, we should also see Android 4.4 KitKat run right out of the box alongside a spanking new HTC Sense 6.0 skin. The purported release date has been set at February 2014.

The HTC M8 Story So Far

The HTC M8 Story So FarWe have seen our fair share of rumors surrounding the HTC M8 for quite some time already, with the recent rounds of rumors happening just in the middle of November. Still, there has been nothing official revealed, we only have bits and pieces to pick up the details from. The latest round of rumors have been sparked from an AnTuTu benchmark score, which in all probability, points to the HTC M8.

What do you think of the HTC M8 rumors? The AnTuTu benchmark score was covered by us nearly a week ago, and in there, it pointed to the model number HTC 0P68120, with Android 4.4 KitKat as the operating system of choice, a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8974AB 2.2GHz processor that is accompanied by an Adreno 330 graphics chipset. There will be two cameras available, with a front facing 2.1-megapixel shooter, while the back will hold a 4-megapixel camera that will in all probability feature Ultrapixel technology, so do not get turned off by the seeming lack of megapixel count. Oh yeah, there is also a very high chance of this being the first Sense 6.0 device.

What are some of the hardware features that you would have liked the HTC M8 to arrive with, assuming all that we have read are true to form?

Purported HTC M8 Appears In AnTuTu Benchmark

Purported HTC M8 Appears In AnTuTu Benchmark

HTC hasn’t said what major device it is going to release in 2014 but rumors have already been circulating. Codenamed the M8, it is believed that this device will be released in Q1, 2014. We have already seen allegedly leaked photos of the HTC M8 and have also heard about its specifications from the ever trustworthy Twitter leaker @evleaks. Additional specifications of the M8 have surfaced, thanks to a purported M8 appearing in AnTuTu benchmark results scoring just over 36,000. Those who know their AnTuTu scores know that the score is quite impressive.

This device is actually believed to be the successor to the popular HTC One. It is believed to have a 2.3GHz MSM8974 Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quadcore processor, 2GB RAM, Qualcomm Adreno 330 GPU, Ultrapixel camera, 16GB of onboard storage as well as Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed. The M8 will apparently have a 5 inch full 1080p HD display as well. Sense 6.0 user interface is expected to be slapped on top of the Android 4.4 core OS. Pricing and availability information is not known at this point in time. HTC obviously hasn’t said anything as yet, we can’t expect it to prior to the official announcement. There haven’t been a lot of leaked pictures though, because we surely do remember that the HTC One Max pictures were leaking almost every single day, perhaps we might see more as the expected release timeframe draws near.

    Alleged HTC M8 Specs Leaked

When it comes to the HTC M8, we have heard our fair share of rumors in the past, including some alleged photos that had already leaked online. Not only that, it has also been rumored to arrive across all major mobile carriers in the US by the end of the first quarter of next year, which means all will be revealed within the next six months on the calendar. Well, this time around, we have another leak from @evleaks concerning the HTC M8, where it has been touted to arrive with a 5” display which will feature Full HD resolution, running on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system alongside a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC.

The HTC M8 will also purportedly arrive with the Sense skin which is tipped to be version 6. When one takes a look at the past release schedule of HTC, chances are the HTC M8 will arrive on store shelves as mentioned earlier, sometime in the first quarter of next year. In the mean time, we can most probably expect additional leaks and rumors surrounding the smartphone to make their way online. After all, an upcoming flagship device tends to be scrutinized closer than ever before.

HTC M8 Rumored To Arrive On All Major Carriers By End Of Q1 2014

HTC M8 Rumored To Arrive On All Major Carriers By End Of Q1 2014Earlier this year, HTC announced the HTC One which was an interesting device with an interesting camera that defied marketing convention, instead opting for “ultrapixels” instead of the standard megapixel fare. While the handset proved to be more than capable of holding its own and was met with favorable reviews, delays of its launch put a stain on the otherwise stellar device, but let’s hope the same will not happen with its successor. Some of you guys might have heard about the rumored HTC M8, the alleged successor of the HTC One.

Well according to @evleaks, who has been pretty damn reliable when it comes to these sorts of things, it seems that the HTC M8 is expected to make its way onto all of the major carriers (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile) in the US by the end of Q1 2014, suggesting that a launch of the handset could be taking place early in the year. As it stands in the early part of the year, we have both CES and MWC to look forward to, and both plausible platforms for HTC to make an announcement, but either way take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for more info. In the meantime who else is excited to see what the HTC One’s successor has in store for us?
