HTC First, Alleged Facebook Phone Image Leaked

HTC First, Alleged Facebook Phone Image Leaked

Facebook has scheduled a press conference on April 4th. It will be unveiling its new ‘home on Android‘, rumor has it that we’re finally going to see the Facebook phone. The fact remains that Facebook has not co-developed the hardware with any manufacturer. Rather its new home on Facebook is actually a homescreen launcher. It was previously rumored that Facebook Home will debut on a mid-range HTC smartphone codenamed Myst. Now @evleaks has leaked an image of a device he calls HTC First, just to be clear, his leaked images have checked out in the past.

The image was posted on Twitter with no additional details. Just the name and the image. This new HTC smartphone is expected to be announced at Facebook’s press conference. It’ll run Facebook Home, which doesn’t exactly make any changes to the core Android OS. It merely replaces stock Android apps with ones that are tapped in to Facebook’s various services. The reported specifications of this upcoming HTC smartphone include a 5 megapixel camera, 4.3-inch 720p display and a dualcore Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. It will come with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. What’s your take on the design? Do you think a mid-range HTC smartphone with various Facebook services baked in will appeal to you?

Facebook’s New Home On Android Is Actually A Homescreen Launcher

Facebooks New Home On Android Is Actually A Homescreen LauncherLast week Facebook sent out invites to the press. The company has invited them to come and see their new ‘home’ on Android. It is believed that Facebook will be announcing the much rumored Facebook phone, which is reportedly made by HTC and carries the codename Myst. A system software dump of this alleged Facebook phone has been received by AndroidPolice, it reveals that the new Facebook ‘Home’ on Android is actually a homescreen launcher. It will run on HTC Sense 4.5, which runs on top of Android 4.12. It is not possible to log in to Facebook through the software that was received as only Facebook employees can log in at the moment, so details on the user experience won’t be available until the April 4 event.

Dubbed the Facebook phone, one must keep in mind that the launcher doesn’t change the core Android OS at all. The hardware has not been co-developed by Facebook and HTC. It merely is a new way to interact with Facebook on an Android device. There’s evidence that suggests that Facebook Home might also be released as a standalone app in Google Play Store. As far as the hardware is concerned, the Myst is supposedly powered by a Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. There’s a 4.3-inch 720p display as well as a 5 megapixel camera on the back.

HTC Myst Passes Through FCC With AT&T-compatible LTE

HTC Myst Passes Through FCC With AT&T compatible LTEThe HTC Myst has been rumored to be the company’s next Facebook Phone, and today, we’re hearing the device has made its way through the FCC.

The PM33100, or HTC Myst, has received the approval of the FCC, which means we get to learn a little bit more about this supposed Facebook Phone. The device will feature the same four LTE frequencies that is normally used for AT&T smartphones, which we’re sure you know exactly what that means.

Not only that, but we know the Myst will come with dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 in addition to its previously leaked specs of featuring a 4.3-inch 720p display with 320ppi pixel density, a dual-core 1.5GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage. The HTC is also expected to have a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera.

Considering the HTC Myst just made its way through the FCC, we’re sure HTC will probably reveal the device shortly. Hopefully whatever it turns out to be won’t suffer the same delay as its HTC One is currently experiencing.

HTC Myst approved by the FCC with AT&T-compatible LTE

HTC Myst approved by the FCC with AT&Tcompatible LTE

HTC’s next “Facebook Phone” has been in the rumor mill for much too long, but this morning’s approval by the FCC may speed along its journey to a launch date. The PM33100, which has been long associated with the Myst (or Opera, going even further back in time), just received the go-ahead by the Feds — and it’s carrying the same four LTE frequencies that we normally see accompanying AT&T smartphones. Naturally, HTC is keeping as much to itself as it possibly can, as we were able to glean few other details from the documents, but we know it has dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. However, if the leaked specs provided by @evleaks are correct, we should also expect to see it come with a 4.3-inch 720p display, a 1.5GHz dual-core MSM8960, a 5MP rear camera and Android 4.1.2.

HTC Myst Specs Confirmed

HTC Myst Specs ConfirmedThe mysterious Facebook phone, which has been confirmed and denied from time to time, has appeared on the grapevine yet again. In fact, it was in the summer of 2011 when HTC, Facebook and AT&T held a pow-wow and rolled out the HTC Status/ChaCha, and it seems that a sequel to the HTC Status is in the pipeline, with all three players being in the picture yet again, offering the HTC Myst, which was also called the HTC Opera once.

An anonymous source (that has been claimed to be reliable in the past) did share the specifications list of the device, and it has been rather close to earlier rumors. It seems that the HTC Myst will feature a dual-core 1.5GHz MSM8960 system-on-a-chip, and will be accompanied by 1GB RAM, while sporting 16GB of internal memory, although there is a major drawback here – no microSD memory card slot is available for expansion purposes. Other than that, the HTC Myst will also feature a 4.3-inch display at 720p resolution and 320ppi pixel density, a 5-megapixel camera at the back with a 1.6-megapixel camera in front, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity, and Android as the operating system of choice.

The HTC Myst Is A Rumored Facebook Phone

The HTC Myst Is A Rumored Facebook PhoneThere have been persistent rumors surrounding the possibility of Facebook launching an Android smartphone of their own. This is in spite of Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg claiming multiple times that no such phone exists. Well for those who think that a Facebook phone is a good idea, even though previous efforts such as the HTC ChaCha yielded results that left a lot to be desired, here’s a new rumor you might be interested in. According to this particular rumor, a Facebook phone is expected to be made by HTC and is going by the name “Myst” (hence the picture above).

The specs aren’t too impressive and if the rumors are right, this alleged HTC Myst will sport a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus processor with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of memory, a 4.3” HD display, a 5MP main camera, a 1.6MP front-facing camera and will run on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. There was no mention of why it is considered a Facebook phone, but if this device is indeed real, we guess we should know soon! We won’t place too much importance in this rumor for now and will be taking this with massive doses of salt, but we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for more information – if it exists.
