Leaked HTC One M8 Training Doc Compares It To The Galaxy S5

Leaked HTC One M8 Training Doc Compares It To The Galaxy S5The HTC One M8 was released not too long ago and given the flagship nature of the handset, it basically puts itself in competition with a slew of Android phones like the LG G Pro 2, Sony Xperia Z2, and how we not forget, the Samsung Galaxy S5. So out of these flagship smartphones from other OEMs, which does HTC find to be the biggest threat?

We guess it’s no surprise that it’s the Samsung Galaxy S5, although HTC basically confirmed this thanks to a leaked training document that the folks at HTC Source managed to get their hands on. According to the leaked document, it basically instructs sales reps to promote the HTC One M8’s features and explain to customers why and how the phone is better than the Galaxy S5.

HTC has listed 5 points that reps can use, starting with how the phone is made from metal, and not plastic. They also mention BoomSound which is the front-facing stereo speakers on the phone (in which Sprint’s model is apparently made by Harman/Kardon). They also mention how the HTC One M8 is apparently better for one-handed use, and they also talk about the Duo camera feature, and last but not least is the HTC Advantage which is basically HTC’s offer of a free screen replacement in the first 6 months should anything happen to it.

All of HTC’s points are valid claims although we guess it really does come down to personal preference. While we had no qualms about the Duo camera feature during our review, there are others out there who have expressed their wish for something a bit more conventional. The front-facing stereo speakers are also nice to have but not necessarily a must-have feature either.

Will HTC’s tactics work against Samsung? Or will loyalty and reputation of Samsung’s brand be more than enough to work in their favor? We guess we will have to wait and see, but in the meantime which phone are you guys leaning more towards to, at least between the two?

Sprint’s HTC One M8 Apparently Comes With Harman/Kardon Speakers

Sprints HTC One M8 Apparently Comes With Harman/Kardon SpeakersA couple of years ago, HTC and Beats Audio announced a deal in which Beats Audio’s technology would see an integration into certain HTC devices, giving them an advantage over the competition, at least in terms of sound. However HTC later sold back their stake in Beats Audio to the company which has us wondering if HTC could be looking for a similar partnership in the future with a different company?

Well it turns out that they have and that company is none other than Harman/Kardon. According to @evleaks, he has revealed that Sprint will soon be getting a HTC One Harman/Kardon edition, although at this point in time we’re not sure when the device will be released, neither are we sure if he’s talking about the HTC One from 2013, or the HTC One M8 which was recently released.

However it seems that it’s more than likely that he’s referring to the HTC One M8, thanks to a recent post in the XDA forums in which the Harman/Kardon audio settings can be found in the phone’s settings, although perhaps it has not been activated yet as Sprint is still waiting on the deal to close.

Apparently Sprint’s version of the HTC One M8 will come with Harman/Kardon speakers, as opposed to other models on other carriers which would sport normal speakers, so rest easy if you bought the handset on Sprint because you won’t have to rebuy it. We’re not sure what the difference in audio quality would be yet since it hasn’t been officially announced, but you can bet that we are definitely excited. Either way we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more info.

HTC One M8 Found To Have Lowest Screen Latency Score

HTC One M8 Found To Have Lowest Screen Latency Score

HTC One M7 (left), and HTC One M8 (right)

How many of you guys remember the days when touchscreen phones used resistive displays as opposed to capacitive? That meant that gestures were basically out of the question and that you’d have to press down, sometimes really hard, on the screen in order to get it to register. Nowadays with capacitive displays, a light touch is all it takes to register.

For the most part we’re sure many of you guys can’t really tell how fast your phone registers your touch input, right? However for those who are interested and would like to have the best of the best, it seems that the recently released HTC One M8 has the lowest touchscreen latency amongst all the smartphones to date. One M8′s Slow Start Does Not Faze HTC

One M8s Slow Start Does Not Faze HTCWith the HTC One M8 having been launched not too long ago, we’re sure many of you guys are wondering how it is doing compared to its predecessor, the HTC One (M7). Unfortunately it seems that the handset is not doing particularly well, at least according to Chitika who reports that out of all the HTC phones in North America, the HTC One M8 only accounts for 0.1% of all HTC devices in use.

Yes we know the phone was just launched about a week ago but in comparison to the HTC One, it is doing as well. Back in 2013 when the phone was launched, the HTC One managed to account for 1% of all HTC devices in North America in a week, so safe to say for some reason the HTC One M8 isn’t as well-received.

Is this something that HTC should be worried about, especially since the company is doing so hot at the moment? Well according to HTC’s Jason Mackenzie, it seems that they aren’t too fazed by the numbers. According to Mackenzie, this is because the HTC One M8 will only be available full retail on the 11th of April, meaning that there is still an opportunity for those numbers to rise.

In fact Mackenzie goes on to state that they are actually pretty satisfied with the initial results. Perhaps HTC is measuring their success in a different way, or perhaps these numbers are actually in line with what they had expected all along, but either way just looking at the numbers alone, it does not look like a good start. Then again, slow and steady wins the race, right?

HTC One M8 Developer Edition Price To Increase Tomorrow

HTC One M8 Developer Edition Price To Increase TomorrowThe HTC One M8 Developer Edition was made available on March 25th last month, and it seems that the adage of the early bird getting the worm holds true here to a certain extent – price wise, at least. The HTC One M8 Developer Edition will be more expensive from tomorrow onward according to this tweet, retailing for $50 more than when it was first introduced, which means that the final sticker price for the HTC One M8 Developer Edition would be at $699.99 a pop.

Black Area Underneath HTC’s Logo On One M8 Explained

Black Area Underneath HTCs Logo On One M8 ExplainedHTC One M8 was launched just last week and like we have said in the past, it has to be one of the more beautifully designed Android handsets we’ve seen to date. The phone is made entirely from metal, features front-facing BoomSound speakers, and a Full HD 1080p display to top things off.

However it seems that there is one particular feature about the phone’s design that some have been curious about and might have even criticized HTC about, and it is the black bar at the bottom of the phone where HTC’s logo is situated. We’re sure many would have preferred if the screen stretched all the way from the top to the bottom, so it is understandable why HTC decided to make this design choice. (more…)

HTC One M8 Will Get The Gold Plated Treatment As Well

HTC One M8 Will Get The Gold Plated Treatment As WellNo doubt phones that are plated in gold or coated in precious stones do look pretty flashy, but they also look a little ostentatious, but then again we guess there is a market for such devices otherwise we’re pretty sure companies would not even bother, right?

Well if you were impressed with the gold plated HTC One from 2013, you might be interested to learn that HTC will be plating their recently announced HTC One M8 in gold as well. Unfortunately HTC did not mention how much the phone would cost but if the gold plated HTC One from last year is any indication, we can look forward to prices upwards of $2,000. (more…)

HTC One M8 Comes With Security Feature That Could Wipe Your Phone

HTC One M8 Comes With Security Feature That Could Wipe Your PhoneThe HTC One M8 is a gorgeous handset. It feels premium and its hardware specs put it on par with other flagship smartphones out there (although some claim its boosting of benchmark results is considered cheating).

It also comes with a security feature which on the surface sounds like a good idea, but it could potentially backfire upon the user as well. According to a new discovery of the phone’s features, it seems that the HTC One M8 will come with a built-in security feature that will give the user only 10 tries to unlock a device before all of its contents are wiped. HTC One (M8) Review: The New Best Android Smartphone

There’s a new contender for Android top dog on the market, and it’s the HTC One (M8), the latest from the Taiwanese firm. It makes the new One a great device, and well worth a… Read More

HTC One M8 Mini Release In May ‘Confirmed’

HTC One M8 Mini Release In May Confirmed

HTC has already unveiled and released its 2014 flagship, the HTC One M8. It has beaten Samsung and its Galaxy S5 to the market, but HTC isn’t done yet. There have been rumors that the company is also working on a “mini” variant of its new flagship. Last year it did release such a variant of the original HTC One. Recently a Swedish carrier hinted at the device, and now a source inside a UK retailer has “confirmed” that the HTC One M8 mini release is going to take place in May.
