AT&T HTC One X+ and One VX equip carrier with full range

The folks at AT&T have revealed that they’ll be getting several new HTC smartphones in quite soon, two of them coming in on the HTC One series tip with power enhanced over the first wave. The third is the USA version of the Windows Phone 8X by HTC which we’ll be speaking about in a separate post – for now it’s time for Android power. The HTC One X+ and One VX are both coming in on AT&T’s 4G LTE network as well for ultra data speed.

The HTC One X+ is a device you may readily mistake for the original HTC One X as it looks essentially the same on the outside save for an exclusive carbon black finish rather than the original white. This device has nearly the same physical specifications as far as how it feels in your hand, but you’ll find boosts throughout the device to keep you up to date with the hottest phones on the market.

You’ll be working with HTC Sense 4+, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and for the first time in the USA, you’ll have the 1.7GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor with 4+1 technology – that’s an additional “ninja” core for low-power activities. This device has a 4.7-inch 720p display and an 8 megapixel on the back with HTC ImageChip hardware inside – that’s a dedicated processor made specifically for the camera, mind you. This device also has 64GB of internal memory right out of the box standard.

The HTC One VX is a slightly new form factor for the HTC One series with a 4.5-inch display fronted by Corning Gorilla Glass and 5 megapixel camera on the back. This device presents one of the slimmest unibody form factors on the market at just 9.19mm thin and equipped with the same lovely Sense 4.0 and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich that the first generation of HTC One devices came with earlier this year.

The HTC One X+ will bring on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and HTC Sense 4+ right out of the box, a couple of enhancements that the HTC One X and the VX will be gaining later this year.

HTC One X 5-inch phablet leaked to take on Note

If you’re a fan of the Samsung Galaxy Note or the LG Intuition, 5-inch displays and all, you’ll be happy to see the competition continue to mount up with a new addition to the phablet universe from HTC. The following render and a bit of information leaked on the device lead us to believe that HTC will be taking the tall route – a 5-inch display with a whole lot more height than its got width. This device is ready for your palm, if this render is to be believed, while it still delivers a massive display and the full gamut of HTC One greatness – greatness we know and love.

Inside this device you’ll very likely be seeing a dual-core processor from Qualcomm if not the S4 Pro, a quad-core next-level processor from the Snapdragon masters. This device also looks very much to be sporting red flare like we’ve seen on a large cross-section of Verizon/HTC devices which makes us think that there may be some 4G LTE in this monster’s future. This device has also been called the DLX and the 6435LVW.

This device has three capacitive buttons up front near the bottom, a lovely speaker grill up top, and a center-top-mounted camera at the back that will almost certainly be at least 8 megapixels strong. You’ll likely be working with this device with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or – do we dare hope – Android 4.1 Jelly Bean by the end of this year.

This device may very well be shown off at the September 19th event in NYC that’ll have HTC showing off “what’s next”, whatever that may be. Here in this behemoth we’re inclined to believe that HTC is not aiming to be the last one left out of the phablet party. What say you?

HTC One note device appears to battle Samsung Galaxy

A new device slightly larger than a smartphone has appeared with HTC branding on it this month that looks to be a competitor for the Samsung Galaxy Note in the very near future. This device has a red border and red rim around its back-facing camera lens, suggesting this device will be working with either the EVO line or Verizon’s DROID offerings. This device also brings on a three-button setup on the front, suggesting that it’ll be released with at least Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and will likely be part of HTC’s extended One lineup.

On the side of this note-sized device you’ll also see a red volume rocket on one side and what appears to be no buttons at all on the other. The back of this device is a thickness that looks to be no larger than the manufacturer’s HTC One X device, and the front is just as flat as the HTC Evo 4G LTE. This device also appears to be working with a single LED flash on the back.

Other than that, this device has no details, not is a non-blurry image of it available. It’s certainly possible that HTC would be readying a device with a display that’s 5-inches or larger now that the Samsung Galaxy Note is in its second full iteration and another competitor of theirs, LG, is bringing their own massive device beast to the USA soon (in the form of the LG Optimus Vu). Here though it’s looking to be a non-pen version of the seemingly popular device size lineup.

This device has had some benchmarks leak, according to Android Community, with a resolution of 1794 × 1080p full HD splashed across its massive display. What we’re inclined to believe is that this device is in the shop, but might never see the light of day. When your competitors release a new device that’s massively popular and you have the opportunity to grab a piece of that pie, you do it. If you can’t do it right, there’s no reason to move forward – if that’s the case, HTC will keep rolling hard with their also brand new HTC Desire X (check out our hands-on action here from IFA 2012) . The images above come from Phone HK where they also suggest that they are tied to the benchmarks previously revealed.

HTC Desire X pushes “One” features to classic range

A brand new HTC device has been revealed with several of the features that make the HTC One series a “Hero” set of phones, here in a more modest package with the HTC Desire X. This device works with a 4-inch 480 x 800 pixel super LCD display and a 1Ghz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor from Qualcomm and comes with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. This device also comes with the newest software the manufacturer has to offer with their user interface Sense 4.0.

This device will appear with 4GB of internal storage and 768 MB of RAM. You’ll also be getting 25GB of cloud storage free with Dropbox for two years. You’ll be able to expand your memory with this device’s included microSD card slot as well by 32GB. The HTC Desire X has a 3.5mm headphone jack with which you’ll be accessing Beats Audio high quality sound delivery.

Beats Audio continues to be a part of the HTC experience with enhanced Bluetooth 4.0 stereo audio quality – APT-X CODEC for BT A2DP included. You’ve also got HD voice here (if your chosen mobile network allows it) and FM radio. Also under the hood is a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and G-sensor. The battery in this device is a lovely 1650 mAh unit that HTC says will bring you 10 hours of talk time in 3G or 20 hours in 2G, with 34 days of standby if you’re using 3G or 31 days using 2G – strange!

This device is also able to connect with a standard 5-pin microUSB cord – included in the box – and is DNLA compliant for sireless media streaming. You’ve got wi-fi connectivity in addition to 2G and 3G and Bluetooth 4.0 here allows you PBAP as well for phonebook access from your brand new car kit – we’ll see more about that situation soon.

Then there’s the camera – here with the HTC ImageChip, the same one included in the HTC One series for awesome media capturing abilities, you’ll be rolling hard with your 5 megapixel camera. Your camera also uses a F2.0 aperture, wide angle 28 mm lens, and an LED flash with SmartFlash. This SmartFlash functionality allows five level of flash that are automatically set by your camera detecting distance to the objects at hand.

Your camera also has a BSI sensor, one-press continuous shooting with up to two frames per second, face and smile detection, geo tagging, and WVGA video recording. This camera also has the ability to work with intelligent group shot mode, Video Pic (allowing photos while you’re capturing video), and Instant Capture. This device allows you to access your camera from the lockscreen and shoot quick so you never miss a shot!

Stay tuned as we check this device out up close and personal here on SlashGear soon – meanwhile check out the HTC One tag to see the history of that lineup, and compare it to the Desire X as you do so!

HTC Proto pictured with global intent

There’s a brand new Android device out there in an HTC factory somewhere called the “Proto”, and it’s just bursting at the joints to get out here to the global market. This device has been tipped earlier this year as a step between the higher-end HTC One models and the midrange smartphone HTC One V. Here the device is pictured with a body that’s rather similar to the rounded shape of the HTC Sensation but with specifications that make it much more 2012.

This device clearly has a reinforced metallic back, lovely HTC design language in its curves on all sides, and what must be a high-end camera with a single LED flash. What’s confusing here is that the device still has the Beats Audio logo at the bottom back, this not quite adding up with their recent announcements that they’d be parting ways sooner than later with the audio company. Perhaps this device still falls under the fold though – we certainly wont be expecting any Beats-branded earbuds.

This device also has three capacitive buttons, similar to the rest of the HTC One series, letting us know that it’s got at least Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich if not the newer software Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Other specifications for this device have had it carrying a 5 megapixel camera on the back, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and a processor twice as powerful as the HTC One V.

Above: the HTC Sensation, an obvious design reference for this new device.

We’re expecting that this device would have at least a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, but nothing’s confirmed as of yet. The HTC Proto will also quite likely have global connectivity for carriers around the world. HTC has also recently been reported as preparing an HTC One X for T-Mobile – they’d better get a move on!

HTC plans price slash at One series disappointment

It appears that the industry supply chain behind the HTC smartphone lineup has been vocal about the disappointment felt by the company at slow sales of the HTC One series. According to trusted sources speaking with MyDrivers, its not long now before the entire HTC line of smartphones will be discounted right from the source. This price cut will come not only for their Android set of HTC One devices, but for their new Windows Phone 8 smartphones as well, coming out later this year.

The HTC One series will continue to work with Beats technology, but Beats will no longer be integrated in future models, and Beats earbuds will no longer be included with any future models of any kind. The HTC One series has appeared on AT&T and T-Mobile with the HTC One X and the HTC One S this year, and the HTC One V has just popped up on one of its several carriers in the United States just this week with Cricket Wireless. HTC has recently reported that they’ve had a slightly less than impressive set of quarters in the earnings universe, and their competition has certainly ramped up in the last few years as far as Android goes.

The HTC One V is now appearing on several budget-minded carriers across the United States, the HTC One X is only on one carrier, and the HTC One V is only on one carrier. There’s an EVO 4G LTE device out there living inside this One generation without the brand name, and Verizon has a new HTC device in the Droid Incredible space. It’s a disconnected space, that’s for certain.

Have a peek at our timeline of HTC’s recent earnings reports to track how they’ve done over the past year. With the HTC One series appearing to be a master-stroke of genius earlier this year, it’s hard to see the manufacturer struggle here in late summer. As it stands, HTC’s only choice might be to keep up the vertical integration game that they started with HTC One – it’s the trend, and it certainly seems to work – ask Samsung!

Beats increases its share ownership to 75%, lets HTC keep ‘commercial exclusivity in mobile’

Although HTC and Beats are just shy of the one-year anniversary of their 300 million dollar partnership, it looks like the two are again growing apart. In a letter to shareholders today, it’s been announced that the original owners of Beats plan to buy back 25 percent of its own shares, for a total ownership stake of 75 percent. That said, HTC will still retain nearly 25 percent of the remaining shares for itself, ensuring that it remains the largest external shareholder. As the release puts it, this new setup “provides Beats with more flexibility for global expansion while maintaining HTC’s major stake and commercial exclusivity in mobile.” All in all, it seems like this is more about shifting priorities given recent news like Beats’ MOG acquisition, but it wouldn’t make eventual breakup all the more unsurprising given the partnership’s mixed results.

HTC confirms Jelly Bean for One X, One XL and One S

Remember yesterday’s rumor from down under about Jelly Bean coming to select HTC One handsets? Well it’s now fact. HTC has just confirmed that the One X, One XL and One S will be getting upgraded to Android 4.1 at some point in the (hopefully near) future. Here’s the company’s statement:

“We know HTC fans are excited to get their hands on Google’s latest version of Android. At this point in time, we can confirm that we have plans to upgrade our HTC One X, HTC One XL and HTC One S to Jelly Bean. Please stay tuned for more updates regarding device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Jelly Bean.”

We’ve also learned that in addition to the aforementioned global models, carrier versions of the One X and One S for AT&T, T-Mobile and Rogers will also be receiving Jelly Bean. No word yet on timing, or whether the One V, EVO 4G LTE and Droid Incredible 4G LTE are included in those update plans.

HTC One V hits US Cellular today

Today you’ll be able to head on down to your local US Cellular outlet and pick up no less than the smallest of the three HTC One devices on the market, the HTC One V. This device was announced alongside the HTC One X and One S earlier this year in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress and we’ve had our fair share of a look at each and every one of them. This device works with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, has Beats Audio embedded within, and will be yours for less than $200 this afternoon.

The HTC One V is the most pocket-friendly of the three HTC One devices on the market today, and is also the only one of the three to be released without some sort of 4G connectivity. Instead you’ll be working with the perfectly suitable 3G network of US Cellular, and the whole package will be yours for the lowest price for an HTC One device on the market. You’ll be paying $129.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate, this attached to a two-year contract with the carrier.

Be sure to check out our full review of the HTC One V and get back to us with comments on how you’ll be picking it up or leaving it behind today! Also head to our timeline for the HTC One V below and stick around for more hands-on action soon!
