Hylian Shield Cake Won’t Stop My Knife

Hey! Listen! Shields are supposed to tough and durable so that they can protect you from swords and arrows and stuff. Not this shield. A knife attack will cut it to shreds. And then you get to devour it and eat it all up.

This super nicely detailed Hylian shield cake was made by Redditor Riorus’s mom. One kid’s love of Zelda, a few layers of cake and fondant, and a mom’s love and knowledge of geeky baking are all it took to make this baked masterpiece.

Look at how shiny this beautiful cake looks. You have an awesome mom, Riorus. I’ll bet he returns the favor and does something like this for his own kids one day.

Legend of Zelda Hylian Shield Backpack: Schoolward Shield

Just as the Hylian Shield – in its many incarnations – has protected Link from countless projectiles and attacks, so will this backpack protect your books, Nintendo handhelds and any stray rupees you find.

Etsy seller Ivana Roso aka pepolina said she sewed the individual parts by hand, then put the backpack together using a sewing machine. She didn’t say what materials she used, although looking at it I think it’s made of synthetic leather.

Here’s the backpack held as if it were actually a shield. Emulate at your own risk.

You can order the Hylian Shield backpack from Ivana’s Etsy shop for only $60 (USD).

Life Size LEGO Zelda Hylian Shield: It’s Dangerous to Go Alone! Take Bricks.

This incredible thing is made entirely out of LEGO pieces. This full-sized Hylian Shield from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has been lovingly recreated by brickbuilders Alyse & Remi otherwise known as Bolt of Blue.

If you have to see this amazing creation in person, you can see it at this years Brickcon in Seattle, WA this weekend. I’m not sure how LEGO pieces it took to create this thing, but it must have been a ton of work. And they clearly have way more talent than I have.

If you are in the Seattle area this weekend check it out and let us know what you thought of it in person.
