Apple Is Deleting iCloud Emails That Have the Phrase ‘Barely Legal Teen’ in Them

Something really weird is happening to iCloud emails. It turns out, Apple is straight up deleting emails sent from iCloud email accounts that have the phrase “barely legal teen” in them. Like, if you sent out an email that included that phrase in the body of the message, it would never be sent to the person. Huh? More »

Apple Censors ‘Barely Legal Teen’ From iCloud Emails, Attachments

Apple Censors Barely Legal Teen From iCloud Emails, Attachments
Apple’s iCloud has seen better days as it’s still experiencing issues from its early-morning outage, and now we’re hearing reports of iCloud emails and attachments being censored.

According to Macworld, Apple’s iCloud email service has been caught deleting emails that contain the phrase “barely legal teen.” Two test emails were sent using personal iCloud accounts, the first one having the worlds “He’s a barely legal teenage driver” while the second email changed the order to a “barely a legal teenage driver.” The second email was delivered without any problems, but the first email that used the “barely legal teen” phrase is yet to be delivered. Apple iCloud Services Experiencing Ongoing Issues

Users who rely on Apple’s iCloud service were greeted with a rude awakening this morning as the service started experiencing an outage around 4 a.m. ET and is still experiencing issues as of this writing.

Earlier this morning, nearly all of iCloud’s services were completely down, but as of now, only three services are still experiencing outages: Photo Stream, Documents in the Cloud and “Backup.” The last service being extremely important as those of us who prefer to back up our iOS devices via iCloud are currently unable to do so. Apple's iCloud user base grows to over 250 million

The hits keep coming for the crowd in Cupertino, as the company just informed the world on its earnings call today that its iCloud platform now boasts a quarter of a billion users. This time last year, Apple’s cloud storage service had but a mere 85 million customers, but 2013 has seen that number triple to 250 million. How? We’re guessing that all those iPads and iPhones it’s sold in the last year probably have something to do with it.

iTunes 11 launches with complete UI redesign and iCloud abundance

Today a brand new iTunes app and digital content store is about to launch with a completely redesigned set of aesthetics and user interface elements. The new iTunes app works with a brand new “edge-to-edge” design with no less than custom designs for each of the content bits in your library – TV shows to music albums to movies and back again. Personalized recommendations have been updated and boosted as you enter the iTunes Store as well – and that’s only the beginning.

Once you’re in the new iTunes Store, you’ll find another complete redesign with a cleaner look and, again, recommendations galore based on your interests and past purchases. This update is also connected with iCloud intrinsically. You’ll have the ability to play purchases from iCloud, this meaning you’ll be able to stream your content – so to speak – from anywhere you can access iCloud. You can also download your content directly from iCloud to sync to a device for offline playing as well.

There’s a new MiniPlayer in the iTunes app that allows you to see what’s playing at any time complete with album art and connections to “Up Next.” With “Up Next” you’ll be seeing which sings are playing next with the Up Next icon in your center display.

This version of iTunes has an improved search ecosystem with instant results from across your content library with a click of any result bringing you in to that piece of media to play. You’ve got Playback syncing now as well, this allowing you to play the same movie or TV show from the place you left off between your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV – like magic!

You can download this new version of iTunes starting today – we’ll let you know as the update rolls out across the USA and abroad!

iTunes 11 now available to download: fresh design, more iCloud features

iTunes 11 screen cap

Apple’s thoroughly re-engineered iTunes is now ready for you to try. The desktop download includes a new MiniPlayer for playing tracks in a widget-sized window, an “Up Next” feature for cueing up songs and viewing what’s next at a glance, and — if you can’t decide which tune to rack up — Apple’s software will now offer “instant recommendations” of its own. iTunes 11 will also endeavor to relocate your position within a song, movie or TV shows if your media consumption ever gets interrupted. Finally, iCloud integration will allow you to play back your library on any device, while an offline option should allow in-flight or underground listening sessions to continue without a hitch. Right now, iTunes 11 is mostly appearing as an option in Software Update for existing users, although it shouldn’t be long before manual downloads are at hand.

Apple Just Can’t Keep iCloud In the Air

Today, iTunes Match went down. Yesterday, it was iMessage and FaceTime. Since launching iCloud to the public on October 12th, 2011, Apple just hasn’t been able to keep its cloud-based services airborne. More »

Apple iMessage sees second outage in a week, iTunes UK follows suit (update: back up, in theory)

Apple iMessage sees second outage in a week, iTunes UK follows suit

Apple may have a lot of iMessage users, but it has also had its share of teething troubles as the chat service (and iCloud) grows. That’s certainly been true this month: Apple has confirmed that, for the second time in a week, iMessage is down for at least some users. There’s a real chance those conversations won’t go through unless it’s between iPhone users that can try SMS. More pressing for anyone in the UK is a wider iTunes outage, as we’ve heard multiple reports of the app and media repository being inaccessible in the country no matter what device they use. We’ve reached out to Apple and will update if there’s an explanation or a repair schedule for either outage. For now, we’d suggest that iMessage lovers communicate through social networks and passive-aggressive word choices in Letterpress.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Update: And no sooner than we post than Apple has iMessage back up and running. Let us know through tips if you’re still having iMessage or iTunes UK trouble, however.

iTunes refresh delayed till ‘end of November’

We were all a little shocked when Apple failed to deliver a redesigned iTunes at its last keynote. The company promised a major revamp of the service would land in October yet, here we are with one day left in the month, and no iTunes overhaul in sight. Today Tom Neumayr, a spokesperson for the Cupertino firm, confirmed to AllThingsD that the software release had indeed been pushed back by a month. Only a few short days ago CFO Peter Oppenheimer was touting the refresh during the company’s earnings call saying, “We look forward to looking to launching a redesigned iTunes. The new iTunes has a dramatically simpler and cleaner interface.” But he made no mention of a delay. Neumayr says the goal now is to release the update before the end of November stating that development is “taking longer than expected and we wanted to take a little extra time to get it right.” While the issue primarily cited in Neumayr’s statement is “seamless integration with iCloud” we wouldn’t be shocked if it’s rumored internet radio service also is playing a role in the delay. Read the complete statement below.

“The new iTunes is taking longer than expected and we wanted to take a little extra time to get it right. We look forward to releasing this new version of iTunes with its dramatically simpler and cleaner interface, and seamless integration with iCloud before the end of November.”
