Lenovo IdeaTab A2109 runs on Tegra 3, packs a mean display

We took a gander at the lesser endowed Lenovo IdeaTab A2107 earlier this morning, and here we are with a spiffier model – the 9” wonder known as the Lenovo IdeaTab A2109. It might not be as capable as the S2110, but this tablet will still be able to pack quite a punch thanks to its 1.2GHz quad-core Tegra 3 chipset that is accompanied by 1GB RAM. In terms of visual quality, you have a feast for your eyes as the 9” LED display packs in a resolution count of 1280 x 800 pixels, where it is accompanied by a 3-megapixel shooter at the back with a 1.3-megapixel camera in front to capture those vanity shots and duck faces.

Your ears are not forgotten thanks to the inclusion of SRS sound, while ports for a 3.5mm headphone jack make sure you can take your music in a more personal manner without disturbing the general peace through blasting your favorite Justin Bieber songs. Other connectivity options include micro-USB and micro-HDMI, making up this 1.3 pound, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich powered tablet. We have already spotted the Lenovo IdeaTab A2109 at Best Buy a few days ago for $299 a pop, and the three Benjamins you drop for it will net you 16GB of storage space which can be further augmented by a microSD memory card. Check out the photo gallery of the IdeaTab A2109 right after the jump. (more…)

LG Optimus L9 hands-on (video)

LG Optimus L9 handson

Thought LG didn’t have any more to add to the L-Style series to offer the world? Behold the L9. Announced yesterday, the device made an appearance on the IFA show room floor this week, boasting a big and bright 4.7-inch IPS display that makes its brethren look downright shrimpy by comparison. In spite of the display size, the phone feels light, with an 8.9-millimeter profile.

It’s important to note here that, in spite of being the king of the L-Series, it’s still part of a budget lineup, and as such, the phone’s body feels a bit plasticky, and the textured rear had a bit of trouble staying snapped in place in the two models (black and white) that we played with. Specwise, we’re talking a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM inside, 4GB of storage (expandable via a microSD slot) and a 2,150mAh battery. The handset’s rocking Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.4, to be precise).

The handset’s got a fairly nice bezel, with the front-facing camera on the top and a home button on the bottom, flanked by illuminating back and menu touch buttons. A larger, 5MP camera is located on the rear of the device, above the flash. Vodafone has the handset priced at €50.90 subsidized and €340 unsubsidized. Peep a video of the handset, after the break.

Lenovo IdeaTab A2107 announced

So, there is a spanking new tablet announced (not another one!) at IFA 2012 in Berlin, Germany, and this time around, it is the Lenovo IdeaTab A2107. Originally targeted to launch in September, it seems that the Lenovo IdeaTab A2107 is right on track, where this rather rugged Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich powered tablet will have a 1GHz dual-core MTK Cortex A9 running at its heart. The IdeaTab A2107 will be tougher than your average tablet as it has an added buffer of protection in the form of its soft matte, roll cage enclosure, making butterfingers like me get drawn to it like a moth to a flame. ZTE Grand X IN Intelpowered ICS smartphone to launch next month

It was all getting a little quiet on Intel-powered smartphone front, but now ZTE’s decided to refresh its not-so-elderly Grand X with a Medfield processor and Ice Cream Sandwich. Part of ZTE’s showing here at IFA, it’s the company’s first Android 4.0 device, running on an Atom Z2460. Expect HSPA+ speeds up to 21Mbps, alongside some familiar Grand X specs. This includes a 4.3-inch 960 x 540 screen, while this model now packs an 8-megapixel camera and 1,650mAh battery. ZTE’s latest redesign will arrive in Europe at the start of next month — and we’ll be tracking down a model in Berlin later today.

Sony 84-inch 4K Bravia 84X900 TV hands-on

Who needs windows at home, when you can have an 84-inch TV running at 3,840 x 2,160 resolution on the wall instead. Sony’s new 4K Bravia 84X900 is a masterpiece of overkill (though we wouldn’t object if Sony sent us one for “long term loan”) but, as overkill goes, it’s one that heralds the next phase in super-high-definition home entertainment. We stood in awe of the pixel-packing behemoth at IFA; read on for our first impressions.

Vast. Bright. Incredible. It’s easy to be broken down to just a few stuttering words when you’re in front of the 84X900: 4K is one of those technologies that proves truly jaw-dropping when you first see it. 1080p suddenly looks clunky and jagged in comparison; you have to get right up close to the Bravia’s panel before you see the individual pixels.

It’s not just the individual detail, though; it’s the smoothness. Sony was showing a looping clip of a young girl surrounded by landscapes and floating water bubbles, and there was no smudging or blurring, just incredibly life-like movement.

It’s not a small TV, in terms of thickness, but we’ve a feeling most people won’t object to that if they can afford the 84X900. Exactly how much that will require is unclear; Sony says the new set will begin shipping from September, though hasn’t given a final sticker price yet.

Lenovo IdeaTab S2110 at IFA 2012

Another day, another tablet makes its way to the scene, although this is slightly different from the rest by virtue of being a hybrid slate. We have seen the Lenovo IdeaTab S2110 drop by the FCC sometime in the middle of June, so that alone gave the game away that the device itself should be well on its way. Well, fast forward to IFA 2012 in Berlin, Germany, and we have the official announcement of the Lenovo IdeaTab S2110 hybrid slate that first appeared to the masses at CES 2012 as the IdeaTab S2.

Just what kind of specifications does it pack underneath the hood of this 10.1” convertible device? You will find a 1280 x 800 IPS display that sports 420 nits of brightness, a skinned version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for easy interaction, a Qualcomm dual-core 8060A 1.5GHz processor, a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera and a 5-megapixel shooter at the back, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity. We have more photos of the IdeaTab S2110 right at the end of the story, so head on after the jump. (more…)

Lenovo Ideatab S2110, A2109, and A2107 get IFA unveiling with Android ICS

The folks at Lenovo have re-revealed the Ideatab S2110 at IFA 2012 this week, making another tablet hook up with the keyboard crew to make a convertible tablet/notebook for the Android universe along with a couple of lovely smaller tablets by the name of A2109 and A2107. The S2110 tablet has a 10.1-inch IPS LCD display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and 420nit brightness attached to a keyboard dock that’ll have to flipping back and forth between tablet and notebook at will. You’ll have 10-finger touchscreen abilities here as well as a powerful Qualcomm 8060A/8260A 1.5GHz dual-core processor (aka a dual-core Snapdragon S4) under the hood.

This tablet comes with up to 32GB of eMMC internal storage and works with a projected 10 hours of battery life. With the keyboard dock you’ll have 20 hours of battery life as well as a slightly thicker and not quite as light experience. Without the dock you’ll have a unit that weights in at just 580g. On the back of this device (on the tablet end of the business) you’ll be working with a 5 megapixel camera with Auto Focus and a single LED flash bulb – on the front is a 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat. Inside you’ve got 1GB LP-DDR2 memory as well as Bluetooth 4.0, built-in FM Radio, and wi-fi connectivity.

You’ve also got a G-sensor, Gyro-sensor, E-compass sensor, and Ambient light sensor as well. On the tablet you’ve got a microUSB port as well as microHDMI, SIM card slot for mobile data (details incoming), and headphone jack. This device works with Google Play as well as the Lenovo App Shop for apps and media. The Ideatab A2110 is available right this minute for $399 USD throughout the USA.

Also being shown today by Lenovo in their first big showing of the set are the Ideatab A2107 and A2109. Both tablets run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and work with a metal alloy roll cage coming straight from the ThinkPad lineup. The A2107 brings a 7-inch display with a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 4.0, built-in FM radio, 720p HD resolution, and both a wi-fi and a 3G model. The A2109 is the manufacturer’s current 9-inch tablet model running Android bringing with it an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor.

The 9-inch S2109 (slightly different from the A2109) has been on the market in the USA for several weeks now for right around $299 while the A2107 will be appearing later in 2012 with a price and a more specific tune on which processor it’ll be carrying as well! NOTE: the S2109 was introduced earlier this year with a slightly different processor – not quad-core Tegra 3, but TI dual-core!

Lenovo IdeaPad S Series Laptops get thin and affordable

At IFA 2012 Lenovo has revealed their next generation of affordable, thin, and light computers with the IdeaPad S Series Laptop lineup. This set of devices brings a balance between performance and portability with Lenovo providing more power than a netbook and longer battery life than your traditional notebook. The IdeaPad S300, S400, and S405 laptops each bring an affordable price to the market as well.

Each of the S Series notebooks measures in at 21.9mm thin and weighs in at 1.8kg. The entire S Series also works with either a 3rd generation Intel Core or AMD A-Series processor under the hood, and each come with a lovely metallic finnish on their outer bits. These units are finished in a variety of colors including crimson red, silver grey and cotton-candy pink, too!

The differences between these devices are in their components, each of the units having just a few changes from the next. With the Lenovo IdeaPad S300 and S400 you’ll be working with Intel’s 3rd Generation Core i3 or i5 processors. With the IdeaPad S405 you’ll have the option to work with up to an AMD A8 quad-core processor. Both the S400 and S405 have an available 32GB solid state drive to boost your speed on your boot time as well as the responsiveness of your applications.

Each of the S Series machines will be appearing with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Professional and will be eligible for the Windows 8 update program from Microsoft. Each of these units also works with Lenovo’s Quick Start “Instant On” functionality to hit the internet in mere moments. You’ll also have Lenovo OneKey Rescue System for your data right out of the box. Each S Series laptop has an AccuType keyboard as well for easy comfortable typing with individually rounded keys across the whole grid. The S Series’ intelligent touchpad also has functions for Windows 8 with both scrolling and zooming features.

Every unit in the S Series lineup has up to a 14-inch HD widescreen display, HDMI out port, Dolby Advanced Audio v2 certification, and stereo speakers besides. The Lenovo IdeaPad S300, S400, and S405 will be available starting today through your favorite Lenovo retailer in the USA. Depending on what features you’d like or model you opt for, this lineup will be starting at $499 USD.

Panasonic’s 103-inch glasses-less 3D plasma panel arrives at IFA (eyes-on)

While it might not be as huge as the Super Hi Vision panel lingering in the same darkened theater, Panasonic’s new 103-inch demonstration display has the ability to offer up a 3D view to five different viewers — as long as they’re in the right visual sweet spot. The effect is subtle, natural, although colors felt little bit muted compared to the 145-inch prototype, with the demo videos drawing us in to its demo reel, rather than pushing out an image. The plasma display panel prototype is also glasses-free, with the 4K2K screen able to push out enough pixels to offer these multiple viewing angles. Again, there’s no substitute for being there yourself.

Lenovo IdeaTab S2110 makes official debut at IFA 2012: a 10-inch hybrid Android 4.0 slate

Lenovo IdeaTab S2110 makes official debut at IFA 2012 a 10inch hybrid Android 40 slate

There may not be much mystery left surrounding the IdeaTab S2110, but Lenovo’s making it official at IFA anyhow. The hybrid slate, first shown off at this past CES as the IdeaTab S2, now has a new name, but aside from that not much has changed since we saw it creep onto the company’s site. The 10.1-inch convertible, outfitted with a 1280 x 800 IPS display capable of 420 nits of brightness, runs a skinned version of Android 4.0 atop Qualcomm’s dual-core 8060A CPU clocked at 1.5GHz and packs a dual 1.3-megapixel front facing / 5-megapixel rear camera setup, as well as support for WCDMA / EVDO, Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi. It’ll be offered in two configurations — 16GB and 32GB — but alas, there’s no option for expansion via microSD. For users dead set on expanding that capacity, an optional keyboard dock will be made available that not only augments the S2110’s storage via full SD slot, but also extends battery life by an extra 10 hours. The tab’s already on sale, so if you’ve got $399 to burn for the base model, or $499 for the dock-enhanced model, head on over to the source below and get your credit card at the ready.
