It’s okay to be fooled by these ‘animated’ optical illusions. They totally look like they’re moving. Hell, the cat watching them was fooled too. But the truth is, they’re all just a masterful visual trick. The image isn’t actually moving, the special sheet in front of it just makes it seem that way.
One is dark, one is light. One is gray, one is white. These are obviously two different blocks with two different colors right? Wrong. The two blocks are the same color. Seriously, they’re the same shade of gray. Just place your finger across the seam (where the blocks meet in the middle) to reveal the illusion. Just crazy.
This superb illusion doesn’t use Photoshop. So how did photographer Nils Bertrand pull it off?
Never Hide Films has been working with Ray Ban since 2007 to put out weird videos that make you think about the world differently. And ideally make you want to go buy sunglasses. This one, titled "Super Clever Sunglass Illusion," has enough twists to keep the momentum going. And I don’t think it’s a spoiler, given the title, to say that things on that desk are not what they seem. Though I do think it’s kind of presumptuous to call a video "super clever." We’ll be the judge of that. But yeah, okay it is.
What’s going on in this picture? Did the photographer add some special lens? Is this some kooky Instagram filter? Is the camera defective? Was it photoshopped? Maybe folded over and over? Nope. The stripes inside the photograph are actually painted like that in real life.
On first glance, you probably thought these images were four different pictures stitched together with Pic Stitch for Instagram or something. I don’t blame you, it looks like a perfect windowpane. But what’s crazy is if you look closer, these four images are actually just one single photograph. What.
This board of tiles, or Azulejos which is a form of Portugese artwork that involves tilework, is making my brain lose its gray matter. The tile board somehow maintains the same number of tiles even when some individual tiles are removed. How did all the tiles fit in the first place? How does it still fit after getting rid of three tiles? Where is the missing square? What sorcery is this? More »
Our favorite mind warping illusionist Brusspup has a slick new trick to wrap your raisin brain around: water flows normally and then BOOM it warps and twists and bends like you never imagined water could when sound hits it. How does this happen? More »
If you’re feeling a little freaky on this Friday night but not freaky enough to dip into hallucinatory drugs, watch this video instead. Basically, you stare at the video and then look at a wall and watch everything collapse. The world just kind of starts melting and spinning and it’s totally like being on drugs. Don’t get addicted!
