Toshiba - dynabook V713 - Keyboard and LCD panel detachable Windows 8 Ultrabook

Toshiba is releasing 2 models of the Windows 8 Ultrabook “dynabook V713″ (V713/28J and V713/27J). It features the ability to split the keyboard from the LCD panel as needed so that it can be used as either a PC or a tablet to match your purpose.

The handwriting input function using the included stylus is something that Toshiba says it has put a lot of effort into. They worked on “4 important elements of the feel of a good pen”:
– smoothness
– pen pressure equilibrium
– display position of the tip of the pen
– pen pressure responsiveness

The CPU is an Intel Core i5-3339Y processor that reduces the amount of heat generated and helps the battery run longer, and it features an 11.6 inch full HD LCD touch panel (1,920×1,080 dot). High-rigidity resin is used for the body to make it strong in the event of dropping.

Price is open price.

Intel Iris Graphics Architecture Doubles Graphics Speed

Intel Iris Graphics Architecture Doubles Graphics SpeedIntel has announced Iris, its latest generation of graphics processing architecture that will be included in the Intel Core 4th generation processors (CPUs). We haven’t been able to run our own benchmarks with the new chip yet, but according to Intel’s own measurements, the new Intel Iris graphics architecture is 2X to 3X faster than Intel’s previous graphics architecture. This is a huge and unexpected jump, especially considering that in time (but not right now), every Intel CPUs will be equipped with a variant of Iris. (more…)

Maingear announces Nomad 17 gaming laptop, comes with custom paint job

Maingear certainly loves to turn out solidly specificated hardware, and today is no exception. Its latest offering? The Nomad 17. As the name suggests this is a 17-inch notebook for gamers on the go. (Nomad, get it?) The new addition will support third-gen Intel Core i7 chips (up to 3.8GHz) and a maximum 32GB of RAM, with a choice of hard drive configurations. It’s not all about the under-the-hood grunt, though, with Maingear offering a choice of six colors for what it’s calling “hand-painted premium automotive paint jobs.” As for the other spec options? You can expect NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M or 680M graphics, a 1,920 x 1080 display, combo Blue-ray optical drive, b / g / n wireless along with USB 2 / 3, DVI-I, HDMI and Fire Wire ports. So, this definitely sounds like a ride you can make your own. Assuming you’re good with the $1,599 starting sticker price that is.
