iOS 7 Jailbreak May Already Be In The Works

We’ve seen a number of iOS 7 concepts over the past week, and even though Apple has yet to discuss anything that could be considered official news regarding its upcoming version of its iOS, that hasn’t stopped the jailbreak community from looking into the future.

Well-known jail breaker Joshua Hill tweeted out a series of messages in regards to a future jailbreak:

Well, so far it looks like the next jailbreak might be created entirely by me. Evad3rs haven’t gone anywhere, I’ve just discovered all the needed exploits on my own over the past few months

With its release of iOS 6.1.3, Apple closed an exploit that made it possible for the jailbreak to function. Considering iOS 7 is expected to be unveiled this summer, we think a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 would be a waste of time, especially since that version of iOS already has its own set of problems. On the other hand, how Hill would gain access to an unannounced version of iOS makes us a bit skeptical as to the possibility of it being a jailbreak for iOS 7. Either way, we’ll have to wait to see what exactly Hill discovered whenever he decides to reveal it.

iOS 7 App Switcher Concept Looks Useful

It was only a few versions of iOS ago that Apple introduced the app switcher. While it was a welcome addition, there are definitely some changes that could be made to make it more useful and efficient, and this iOS 7 app switcher concept by Jesse Head might be worth taking a look at. It seems that according to the YouTube comments, some of these features can already be had if you were to jailbreak your device, but then again we wouldn’t be surprised if Apple borrowed some ideas from the jailbreak community.

So basically what this concept involves is that instead merely display icons at the bottom, the apps can be viewed in tiles with a live preview, so that users will be able to swap between apps and see where they left off, or if there are changes. Swiping up will close the app, making it a quicker solution compared to the press and hold technique, and there will be toggles and controls, such as to toggle WiFi, Bluetooth, music controls and etc. It’s pretty cool and if you’ve got a couple of minutes, check it out in the video above.

Fan-made iOS 7 Concept Is Stunning

With Apple’s design guru Jony Ive taking the lead on iOS, we’re sure that many are excited as to what sort of changes Ive will be able to bring to the table come iOS 7 which based on past releases, should be announced at this year’s WWDC sometime in June. While we doubt that there will be an extensive overhaul, we are hoping that Ive will be able to bring some of his design magic to the software, but in the meantime Mohamed Kerroudj has come up with an iOS 7 concept of his own which we can only wish was real.

Gone is the skeuomorphic design that was used extensively not just in iOS, but OS X. Instead Kerroudj’s concept seems to have taken design cues from Google and Windows Phone, making this iOS 7 concept very clean, minimal and “flat”. If you have a couple of minutes to spare, be sure to check out the concept videos above and after the break, and be sure to leave your comments below on what you guys think! (more…)

iOS 7 concept video brings resizable icons and widgets to the table

It was pretty big news a few days ago when it was announced that Apple had let Scott Forstall go, and that Jony Ive would now be in charge of designing iOS. Given Ive’s success with designing Apple’s products so far, we can only imagine what he might have planned for iOS, especially with his taste in minimalist designs and clean interfaces, versus Forstall’s taste in skeumorphic design. That being said if we were to expect a major revamp in design for iOS, we might have to wait until iOS 7 but until then, designer Max Rudberg has come up with a concept video in which he imagines how iOS 7 could look like.
