Apple now selling refurbished 4th-generation iPad and iPad mini

It was only a matter time before we would see refurbished models of the new 4th-generation iPad and the iPad mini show up, and today is that day. Apple has officially released the cheaper models of the new devices in their refurbished store, where you can grab both the 4th-gen iPad and the iPad mini at a slight discount from their brand-new price tag.

The great thing about Apple refurbished products is they come with the same one-year warranty as their brand new products, and all refurbished models come with a brand new battery and new outer shell, making them almost brand new and hardly distinguishable from the brand new variants, but scoring a $50 discount in the meantime.

You can get the entry-level model of the 4th-gen iPad for $449, which is $50 less than if you were to buy it brand new. As for the iPad mini, Apple doesn’t have the entry-level model in stock, but as with all of their refurbished products, different models come and go quickly, so if you see the model that you want, you better act fast.

The cheapest refurbished iPad mini is selling for $429, which will land you the 16GB LTE version, but it should only be a matter of time before we see the entry-level model show up, which we’re guessing will sell for $299. The refurbished iPad minis that are currently offered will net you a discount of around $30-$40.

Scosche Lightning Connector Cables Now Available

Scosche Lightning Connector Cables Now Available

The launch of the iPhone 5 not only brought an iPhone with a larger screen, but it also introduced the Lightning connector. Since then, Apple’s new Lightning connector has made it to the iPad Mini and fourth generation iPad, which means accessory makers have been scrambling to provide updated accessories to help support the new connector.

Scosche is one accessory maker that has yet to provide official Lightning connector compatible cables, but starting today, that will change as the company is announcing its line of Lightning connector cables. (more…)

128GB iPad 4 With Retina Display Now Available In The Apple Store

128GB iPad 4 With Retina Display Now Available In The Apple StoreIt’s February 5th, Tuesday. And if you can still recall, today is the day when Apple will begin selling its gargantuan 128GB iPad 4 tablet with Retina display. A quick look at Apple’s online store will reveal the availability of the new iPad model. Available in black and white color flavors, the new iPad is priced at $799 for the Wi-Fi-only model. There’s a Wi-Fi with cellular connectivity model as well that costs higher at $929. You can also see in the screenshot above that Apple is promising to ship the new models within one to three business days. In case you didn’t know, the new iPad model is still the iPad 4 that you love. Everything’s the same except for the bigger storage capacity, which will be perfect for those who want to store huge files on their tablet. If you’re planning to get one, head over to Apple’s online store to order one.

128GB iPad now available in the Apple Store

Last week, Apple officially announced a 128GB version of the fourth-generation iPad, set to go on sale today, and the company has kept true to their promise. You can now grab one of these bad boys starting at $799 for the WiFi-only version, or $929 for the WiFi+LTE variant. The WiFi-only model has a 1-3 day ship time, while the LTE model also has a 1-3 day ship time for AT&T, while other carriers have a 3-5 day ship time.

Screen Shot 2013-02-05 at 9.22.08 AM

However, we wouldn’t be surprised if those ship times increase ever so slightly within the next couple of days, so if you’re thinking about biting the bullet and want to buy the most expensive, top-of-the-line iPad yet, better hurry and do it today before shipping times increase to weeks instead of days.

Aside from the increase in storage capacity, there’s nothing different about the hardware. It’s still got the same A6X processor running iOS 6.1, as well as a FaceTime HD camera, WiFi a/b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0 for all your wireless needs. The 128GB model won’t be replacing any of the current size options, but rather just being tacked on at the end.

While many people would scoff at the idea of 128GB in an iPad, we can’t say that not a lot of people would use it. Many professions in the business world would benefit from the extra capacity, including photographers, video editors, contractors, and maybe even universities, but don’t take our word for it — decide for yourself!

iPad 5 photos appear with Mini aesthetics

Today we’ve seen confirmation of the iPad 4 being released with a newly massive amount of internal storage as well as, here and now, a new case for the up and coming iPad 5. The “confirmation” bit on the iPad 5 case we’re seeing here is more of an assurance from the source which we can’t independently confirm, but whose photos imply what’s expected either way – a case that matches the iPad mini. With the iPad 5 hitting some time this year and the newly massive iPad 4 being shown today, we must expect that this fifth generation 9.7-inch (standard iPad size) display-toting machine will be appearing closer to October of this year than the previously suggested March.

ipad59to5mac

With the iPad mini out on the market now taking names and serving up the competition for lunch, a show of power from Apple comes in an upgraded iPad 4. This most massive of iPads is the same model we saw in late 2012 with the launch of the iPad mini, this model coming with the same Lightning connector as the iPad mini and the iPhone 5 (and several iPods, mind you), complete with the same Retina display as the iPad 3. And a new processor, to boot.

ipad5-2

This iPad 5 model being shown by 9to5Mac is one which we’ve got little reason to doubt will take on an appearance much closer to that of the iPad mini than to the original iPad. Here with slightly rounder corners and a flattened color back (black in this case), we’re seeing Apple change while it stays the same. The version you’re seeing here appears to be the mobile-connected (4G LTE more than likely) iteration complete with the same tone as the iPad mini model depicted right next to it.

This version of the iPad has been tipped to be thinner than past iterations, perhaps thinner than the thinnest model, that being the iPad 2 (fun fact!) All the greatest hits are still here in the screen lock/mute, volume buttons, back-facing camera (still without a flash), microphone hole up in the center back of the device (paired with another under the speakers near the bottom almost certainly) and an overall sleek look.

Sound like a winner to you? Have a peek at the timeline below to see other recent iPad news and see if you can track this model all the way to the bank – the bank being October of 2013 – just you wait!

iPad with Retina Display 128GB official

Apple has officially announced the 128GB iPad with Retina Display, with the new super-capacity version of the fourth-gen tablet priced from $799. Set to go on sale from Tuesday, February 5, in both WiFi-only and WiFi + Cellular variants, the 128GB iPad has the same 9.7-inch Retina Display high-res screen as we saw before, but doubles the internal flash storage for those with huge multimedia ambitions.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Inside, apart from the extra storage, there’s the same Apple A6X processor running iOS 6.1. The cellular model also has an LTE radio – with DC-HSDPA for those countries without compatible 4G networks – and both have a FaceTime HD camera, WiFi a/b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0.

Apple’s 128GB iPad will go on sale alongside, rather than replacing, the existing three model full-sized iPad range, and will be available in black or white finishes. The company expects it to be popular with those mobile users who insist on carrying all their data around, whether that be iTunes music/video/ebook downloads, presentations, or other content.

The 128GB iPad with Retina Display WiFi is priced at $799, while the WiFi + Cellular model will be $929 when it arrives on shelves. As usual, there’ll be pay-per-use and non-contract data options through the familiar 3G/4G carriers.

iOS 6.1 released: LTE and iTunes Match boosted

This morning Apple has revealed iOS 6.1 for their most modern mobile device lineup, this download and upgrade available over-the-air for all iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch models currently carrying iOS 6.0. This upgrade includes several updates to the system including, first of all, LTE support for a brand new set of carriers for the iPhone 5 (and perhaps the iPad lineup as well), a full list of which you can find on Apple’s iPhone 5 carrier page. Next you’ll find iTunes Match compatibility with individual song downloads from iCloud – you’ve never had that before, believe it or not!

The iOS 6.1 software upgrade includes a new button that will allow you to reset your Advertising Identifier and includes a set of bug fixes as well. This update will be coming straight to your iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad today (or rather soon) and will be available at the touch of a button. Once you see your upgrade alert, you’ll have only to download the required software (107 MB in all) then hit install. A real simple process is what this is all about.

update2

This software upgrade will be necessary for future apps, though as it has been in the past, it’ll likely be quite a while before any developer requires you use this ultra-newest upgrade to run them with ease. This upgrade is being pushed starting today, January 28th, 2013, and is wholly different from the iOS 6.0.1 update that came across back on the first of November, 2012.

Let us know if you’ve found anything wild and crazy happening when you’ve installed iOS 6.1 to your Apple mobile device once you’ve done it, and head to our massive Apple hub for more information on all your favorite Apple products through the future. Also note that this software update will not be working with device that were not able to work with iOS 6.0, and we’ve not heard any word on trouble with anyone using a device that already had iOS 6.0 onboard thus far. Load it up!

Apple Poised To Launch Additional iPad Model With 128GB Storage [Rumor]

ipad Apple Poised To Launch Additional iPad Model With 128GB Storage [Rumor]Apple is reportedly preparing to launch an additional model and it’s not an iPad mini, as reported last week. According to 9to5 Mac, it will be a new SKU for the fourth-generation iPad with Retina display. First, sources are saying that it will arrive in both the current black and white color options, as well as the Wi-Fi-only and WiFi plus Cellular versions. However, the sources pointed out that the new SKU will not be a new design, but will still be an iPad 4.

Apple’s Tim Cook: Always question supply chain order rumors

Apple CEO Tim Cook has addressed the recent trend of divining sales performance of the company’s iOS and OS X ranges from supply chain leaks, suggesting that “it’s good to question the accuracy of any kind of rumor.” Asked about the chatter in recent weeks of iPad display order cuts while on the company’s financial results call, Cook declined to comment on any rumors specifically, but said that the supply chain was far too complex to predict from just one ingredient.

ipad_4_ipad_mini

“It’s good to question the accuracy of any kind of rumour about those [order cut] plans” Cook argued. “And even if a particular data point was factual, it would be impossible to interpret what it means for our overall business. The supply chain is very complex … there’s an inordinate long list of things which would make a single data point not telling for what’s going on.”

Talk of modified iPad component orders re-surfaced earlier this month, with claims that Sharp – among others – had cut its 9.7-inch panel production and switched to 7.9-inch panels thanks to increasing demand for the iPad mini. That led to suggestions that Apple’s bigger, more expensive iPad had been cannibalized by the new, smaller model.

Cook, though, appears reluctant to accept such A-to-B conclusions. Although, he said during the call, Apple couldn’t make enough iPad mini to meet demand, it was too simplistic to assume that would necessarily require a cut in full-sized iPad production. “We ended the quarter with significant [order] backlog” CFO Peter Oppenheimer added, saying that Apple expected to be able to meet demand in the next quarter.

Apple sold 22.9m iPads in the last quarter, though has not broken down what proportion was iPads and what was iPad mini.
