surfsoundHow is your summer so far, for those of you who happen to live in the northern hemisphere, anyways? Is it all fun in the sunshine, and what kind of trips have you embarked upon with your family and friends, or heck, even done some solo adventuring? Well, other than good food on your travels, it is obvious that having the right kind of music can also help put you into the mood – as music is food for the soul. The thing is, not all consumer electronics devices were created equal, and that includes speakers and smartphones, which is why Pyle Audio has embarked on something which is slightly different – the SurfSound-PLAY waterproof speaker which we will describe in greater detail right after the jump.

Props Repel Case ensures your iPad remains bone dry

Digital Treasures, now that is a name that some of us might associate it to have something to do with a pirate game or the ilk, but far from it – Digital Treasures has just announced the Props Repel Case for your iPad (it will play nice with the second generation iPad all the way to the latest model of Apple’s top selling tablet). Let’s face the new reality, carrying around a full fledged notebook is not going the trendiest way to do your work whenever you are outside, especially when such notebooks are heavy, and an Ultrabook, well, it ain’t that chic, either. What you want is something that is a snap to hold, and it can be tucked away easily, not to mention having the same kind of convenience in taking it out to use it in a jiffy. The iPad fits that category perfectly, and throw in a relatively long battery life, and you have quite the winner here. Thing is, what if you live a rough, outdoor lifestyle that might put your iPad at risk of drowning? This is where the Props Repel Case comes in handy.

The Props Repel Case should be a compulsory item to carry around in your beach bag or travel suitcase, as I am quite sure that frequent travelers among our dear readers out there can regale us with tales of their iPads having a close shave with ending up in a watery grave. After all, since prevention is always the better option compared to cure, you should want to ensure that your iPad remains free from the risk of sleeping with the fishes anytime soon.

The Props Repel Case has passed through a bunch of rigorous tests that have proven that water is unable to find a way through this particular accessory, unless of course, you happen to have a power drill somewhere that intends to see some action. Being IPX8 certified, that would mean it is capable of remaining submerged in depths of up to 33 feet in layman’s terms without your iPad ending up as a wet paperweight. The Props Repel Case will arrive in only one color – black, for $49.95 a pop.

Shower Tunes plays your music in the tub

There are a lot of places where people like to listen to music. In the living room, in the car, at your desk, and of course, in the shower. Most of those places are easy to get music to, as there is usually a stereo or computer nearby. If there isn’t, you can always pop on some headphones and plug in your smartphone. Unfortunately, the shower isn’t somewhere that you want to stick an electronic device. However, what if there was a way to safely use your phone or tablet while in the shower?

The Shower Tunes shower curtain is one way to transport the music you love to one of your favorite places to sing. Essentially, what you have is a shower curtain with a plastic pouch for your device. You’ll slide in your phone, tablet, or mp3 player into the pocket from the outside, and then hook up the audio cable. Hit play, zip it up, and you’re ready to rock out. Rather than playing the music through your device’s built-in speakers, it will come out of two speakers attached to the curtain. There is one at the top left, and top right corner of the curtain. As for controlling the music, the pouch is touchscreen-friendly, so you can make sure that you’re listening to exactly what you want.

This might not be the most high tech way to listen to music in your shower, it’s still pretty convenient. It will work with any device that has an audio jack, and keeps it free from moisture. The biggest annoyance will be feeding it the three required AA batteries. If this sounds like what your bathroom needs, you can pick one up for $50.

iPad Musical Shower Curtain

Do you subscribe to the notion that “music is the universal language”? I always thought that love was the answer as to what a universal language would constitute, but I suppose that music would rank somewhere in the top five list. Having said that, if you happen to be one of those folks who absolutely cannot live without music all the time, then surely you would be in possession of the early Walkman, Discman, iPod, and smartphone, as all of these devices do deliver audio playback in a portable manner. How about during those moments when you are trying to experience an “Eureka!” moment in the showers? This is where the $49.95 iPad Musical Shower Curtain comes in.

The iPad Musical Shower Curtain works as its name suggests, it is a shower curtain that boasts of built-in speakers as well as a waterproof pocket for you to place your iPad inside. This would be able to turn any ordinary shower into a real singing sensation event, and fret not for your iPad’s safety – the pocket that holds it will be able to zip closed from the outside, allowing it to remain safe and sound from moisture, while it sports an integral audio cable that hooks up to an iPad, iPhone, Android phone, or MP3 player, connected to a couple of speakers in the upper left and right corners of the curtain. It will be powered by a trio of AA batteries, so if you plan on using this for the long term, it would be best to get rechargeables.

iPad Pocket Projector

I clearly remember when I first caught sight of a pocket projector – it certainly bowled me over with the possibilities, but after getting one, I rarely used it. Come to think of it, it has seen action just a handful of times, so much so that I can even count it on a single hand. I suppose it does not cater to my needs, but enough market research and case studies must have been done in order for pico projectors to be approved and manufactured. Those who tend to make business presentations on the go might find this $249.95 iPad Pocket Projector a boon, especially when you need to throw that money making pitch among a group of potential investors, instead of meeting them one by one.

The iPad Pocket Projector says it all, where it can hook up directly to an iPad for it to instantly display enlarged views of photos, movies, and presentations. It will arrive in a physical form factor that is smaller than a smartphone, tipping the scales at under 5 ounces, where it will plug into your iPad’s 30-pin charging port, making your iPad look like some sort of Borg entity. In a nutshell, you can transform a small room into a mini movie theater of sorts sans complicated setup or cables. The iPad Pocket Projector will come with a 35-lumen LED that delivers 6″ to 60″ diagonal images from 8″ to 78″ away with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Unfortunately, the projector’s resolution maxes out at 640 x 480 pixels, but thankfully there is a manual focus wheel that helps you fine-tune image clarity, alongside controls for the audio level. The LED itself has been rated for 20,000 hours, and it will play nice with all iPads, the iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS, and third and fourth generation iPod touch.

New Trent Airbender Mini now available

So, you have decided to pick up a spanking new iPad mini for yourself, and want to take all the necessary precautions to ensure that it remains as scratch free as possible, at least until the next generation iPad mini arrives, so that you can sell off your current iPad mini at the highest price possible? That is definitely a thought, but I prefer to look at gadgets this way – it is always best to maximize its purpose, and if it involves using said device without any protective case or screen protector so that it will not sully the efforts made by the device’s designers, then so be it, never mind the fact that there is the very real possibility of me introducing the concept of scratches to my shiny new device. Well, the New Trent Airbender Mini sort of brings the best of both worlds, and it also ups the productivity ante for iPad mini owners, too.

Basically, the New Trent Airbender Mini has been touted to be the ideal portable case solution for those who want maximum protection for their iPad mini, regardless of where they are, whether they are at home, in the office or in the great outdoors. The outdoors? Yup, that is correct, this bad boy will come with a shock and splash resistant case, thanks to a rubberized exterior which will ensure that all openings are properly plugged, all the while offering full-body protection to the iPad mini without hindering usability.

Not only that, it comes with the convenience of a removable iPad mini case that has an integrated screen protector, ensuring that scratches and smudges will never get to your beloved iPad mini, all without sacrificing on touch screen sensitivity. Sporting an ultra low-profile, built-in keyboard, it will hook up to the iPad mini via Bluetooth, ensuring you can type out all those documents in a jiffy, with great ease and comfort. If you are interested, the New Trent Airbender Mini can be yours for $39.95 a pop.

The GoGo Pillow gently holds your tablet in place

There are a lot of tablet holders on the market. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes to fit virtually all of your needs. Some are meant to be used on a table, while others will suspend it in front of you while you’re on the couch or in bed. But what if you just want something that’s really comfortable while it sits in your lap?

The GoGo Pillow is an interesting tablet holder, as it is essentially just a small pillow. There are four corners of fabric that you’ll tuck the edges of your tablet into. This keeps your iPad, or other device snuggly in place. You’ll then be able to curl up with it in your lap, or next to you while you lay down in bed. It will also work to hold your screen up, if you lean it against a wall, or other object. And in a pinch, you can always flip it over, and sleep with your head on it. Though it’s probably best if you just take the tablet out. Interestingly enough, if you take the tablet out, and unzip the top, you can turn it inside out, which transforms it into a travel neck pillow.

The GoGo Pillow also has slots for your earbuds and power cord to access the tablet, when needed. In all, it’s a pretty decent accessory, and you can get a pair of them for just $20.

Smart Cargo adds storage space to your iPad

When you carry around a tablet, there are certain other accessories that you’d like to keep on-hand. A charging cable and wall adapter are great for when your battery is running low. A stylus can be nice, if you prefer not to smudge up your screen, or you need a little more precision. Finally, a set of earbuds will keep people from getting upset when you want to watch a movie. The big question is where you’re going to store these things. In a bag? Your pocket? Why not store them on your tablet?

The Smart Cargo is an interesting case for your iPad. That is to say, it’s a case that attaches to your Apple Smart Cover, not a case that protects the tablet itself. The small hard-shell case locks itself to the cover using a series of magnets, much the same way the cover is attached to your iPad. Once attached, you can flip open the little door and stash a number of things inside, and be confident that they won’t fall out. Check out the video below to see just how well it stays put.

What’s really interesting is that this add-on does more than simply stores accessories. It was designed to roll up in your Smart Cover, act as a hand grip, and be detached and used as a wrist rest when you’re typing. The accessory won’t break the bank, either. If you put down just $20, you’ll get one of your own when they start shipping this October.

Handibot – the iPower Tool of the Future?

In high school, I was the girl that didn’t take home economics. I took wood shop, and still remember the day my friends and I got caught duct taping a circular saw to a railing to use as a make shift table saw. Yes, I’m lucky I still have all my fingers and both eyes, I eventually passed that class, but I never made more than a toothbrush holder. Power tools, my how the times are changing.

Check out this award winning Kickstarter project, the Handibot,  an app controlled, robotic power tool that is portable, digitally-controlled and used for cutting, drilling, carving, and many other useful and creative machining operations. This Handibot tool is actually run from a smartphone or tablet, or even a  PC and is useful for the do-it-yourselfer, or the professional for both creative and precision work.

The Handibot uses something called CNC technology, and if that term is unfamiliar to you then just think of the Handibot  as a ’3D Cutter’ that will allow you to cut, drill, and carve in wood, plastic, and aluminum with computer-controlled precision and repeatability. Ahh.. so much better than a circular saw and duct tape.

Simply purchase the job appropriate app and download it to your smartphone or tablet and input your desired settings, click the load button, thereby sending the info to your Handibot which will in turn signal you with a blinking warning light, letting you know you can squeeze the start button and let the magic begin. So let your creativity flow, and be one of the first to have a Handibot for around 2400 bucks.
