Findables – The Smarter Smartphone Case

I share a lot of gadgets that have to do with finding, or tracking lost items. To hear it be told you would think I lose everything, all the time… and you’d be right. Presently, I’m missing 2 out of 4 remote phone handsets. The one thing I can’t lose is my iPhone, that would be life altering.

Check out Findables, not just another gadget to help you keep track of a gadget, Findables  is actually a smartphone case with an associated app that can act as a reward poster,  a virtual business card, or a “call me sometime” high tech introduction.

Every Findables case comes with a unique QR code and a free mobile app that lets you create and personalize up to 3 different connected profiles, and it enables you to switch  between modes as needed. Why 3 you ask? Perhaps you want to create a business profile for your next meeting and kiss your business cards goodbye, and then have a social page complete with contact info or Facebook stuff at the ready for a night on the town. Lastly, why not utilize the lost mode with a reward  page, so you can increase the chances of getting your smartphone back should you ever leave it behind.

Anyone can simply scan your case’s QR code and viola! Your info is now their info. Very cool. Findables come in a nice array of relatively standard case colors as well as a glow-in-the-dark option, and they are currently available for the iPhone 5, 4, 4S and iPad (including the new mini) and the Galaxy S3. Prices come in at just under 30 bucks. So get yours at findables.me and scan me sometime!

iPad Pen

You know something? When Apple came up with their iPad, it was definitely a watershed moment for the world of tablets. Sure, Microsoft might have come up with the tablet PC a fair number of years before that, but it really was the iPad that kicked off the tablet craze. You can more or less say that the iPad can be used without having to have a stylus or other similar accessory, as your finger is more than good enough. Here is something that you might want to consider after the iPad has gone through a few generations – the $169.95 iPad Pen.

The iPad Pen comes across as a wireless stylus which would make taking down notes on the iPad a cinch, as though you were performing handwriting using pen and paper. In fact, it is said to be comparable in size and feel to its ink-filled cousins, and you will be able to use it with free downloadable apps including IdealNotes or FlyNotes, alongside the included wireless infrared receiver. All your work can then be saved as JPEG images on the iPad, so that you can edit them later on at your convenience. Each iPad Pen will be powered by a couple of SR41 batteries and accompanied by a replacement tip.

These iPads certainly come in handy, where it takes testing, studying and note taking to a totally new level. The thing is, there are always two sides to a coin – where wireless keyboards for the iPad in a classroom would require teachers to simultaneously pair multiple iPads with multiple wireless Bluetooth keyboards. Good to know then that Swiss peripherals manufacturer have got your back with the Logitech Wired Keyboard for iPad.

The Logitech Wired Keyboard for iPad was specially designed to handle hassle-free plug-and-play connectivity, where it boasts of an integrated Lightning Connector or 30-pin Connector, allowing you as the student to just plug in the iPad and start to type right away. Sure, it might not have the kind of freedom as that of a wireless connection, but there is something reassuring about wired connectivity that ensures every single keystroke is registered without any exception.

The Logitech Wired Keyboard for iPad comes with full-size keys and has a spill-resistant design, ensuring it is able to live a long life, while boasting of a key lifespan of more than five million strokes. Expect the Logitech Wired Keyboard for iPad to arrive in the US later this summer.

iRing Stylus – Say I Do!

Almost everything we have these days has a touch screen! My iPhone, tablets, Pods and Pads, they all rely on my fingertips to do the walking. Unfortunately, I also have cold dry little fingers that don’t always seem to work so well with these screens (am I the only one thats had to dampen my fingers and then heat them on my pant leg to get things “swiped”?) Please just say no…  anyway, I also don’t always rock that much accuracy, so I guess that makes me a good candidate for a stylus, but I’d probably lose it, so I have simply been suffering in silence.

Well, I just found an answer to this harrowing dilemma, the iRing Stylus, made of aluminum and rubber, this fashion friendly stylus can be worn on your finger, or a cord around your neck, so you’ll always have it handy. So scroll and swipe to your hearts content, and look cool doing it.

There are plenty of apps that actually require a stylus these days, not to mention those “poor connection” days where a stylus is just a nice addition to your electronic arsenal. So if you feel the need to doodle away the days, the iRing Stylus may be for you, or of course the geek gal of your dreams. Get one at amazon.com for only around 13 bucks.

iPad Document Scanner

The iPad is a tablet that has achieved its fair share of accolades, and you can basically find an app that does just about anything you want to with a tablet on it. Well, peripherals for the iPad have not been entirely the most interesting market to look at, as majority of the peripherals rolled out for it tend to be protective cases and covers, including those that come with a built-in keyboard so that you have a pseudo-Ultrabook of sorts on the go. Well, the $149.95 iPad Document Scanner is certainly something else altogether.

In a nutshell, the iPad Document Scanner functions as a device that is capable of scanning documents straight to an iPad. This scanner will be able to feed pictures as well as documents automatically, up to 8 1/2″ x 14″ in size, before converting them to the JPEG file format, where they are subsequently stored on a docked iPad. This does away with the need to scan documents to a computer before they are transferred over to an iPad, as the device will save the scanned images straight to the iPad’s camera roll. The scanning progress will be shown in real time on the iPad, and you will be able to enjoy images which have been scanned at 300 dpi resolution, paving the way for you to carry preserved documents in their digital formats in clear, full-color glory. Whenever your iPad is docked, the scanner will take this opportunity to juice itself up as well.
