iPad Pro Release Chances Reportedly Slim

iPad Pro Release Chances Reportedly Slim

It was first rumored last year that Apple is toying with the idea of developing a larger iPad, which is now commonly referred to as the iPad Pro. This tablet was said to have a 12.9 inch display and it was believed that iPad Pro would primarily be geared towards the business and enterprise market. Some rumors claimed that a launch was imminent, that it would take place in the first few months of this year. However, market research firm IHS believes that there’s not enough evidence to support that an iPad Pro release is going to take place in the very near future.

Rumored iPad Pro Could Be A Hybrid Device Aimed At Enterprise Users

Rumored iPad Pro Could Be A Hybrid Device Aimed At Enterprise UsersEarlier we had reported that Apple had plans to launch a new and larger “iPad Pro” later this year. The device is said to feature a larger 12.9” display which is a step up from the regular iPad Air and definite a lot bigger than the iPad mini, but what is the point? Wasn’t the trend shifting towards smaller and more portable tablets, not bigger ones? Well according to analyst Patrick Wang, the iPad Pro might not necessarily be a tablet per se, but rather a hybrid sort of device that is meant to bridge the gap between tablets and notebooks.

If this sounds familiar, it’s because Microsoft has attempted to do something similar with Windows 8, creating an interface that encouraged touch input leading to OEMs creating hybrids, laptops with touchscreen displays that can also double up as a tablet (albeit a huge one). According to Wang, he believes this new iPad Pro will be powered by Apple’s new A8 chipset which is of the quad-core variety, and that we should “Expect a 2-1 hybrid – think iPad + MBA – similar to how most iPads are used in the workplace and in the same spirit of MSFT’s Surface.”

Wang also notes that the iPad Pro could feature larger storage which would appease the critics and satisfy enterprise users who might find that 128GB isn’t enough for enterprise-related work. As it stands Apple’s iWork productivity suite is available on the iPad as well and with the reports that Microsoft Office could arrive on the iPad in the not-too-distant future, it would certainly be an attractive option for enterprise customers. Do take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think of this iPad Pro hybrid device? Yay or nay?

Rumored 12.9″ iPad Pro Could Feature 2K Display With Eye-Tracking Technology

Rumored 12.9 iPad Pro Could Feature 2K Display With Eye Tracking TechnologyBack in 2013, we reported on a rumor that Apple could be looking to develop a new iPad with a 12” display, and that they would be joining Samsung in creating such products. As far as Samsung’s rumored 12” tablet is concerned, recent benchmark sightings have seemingly confirmed the existence of said device, but what about Apple? Well according to a new report from International Business Times, they claim that Apple could be looking to launch an iPad Pro that will not only sport a 12.9” display, but could also sport a 2K display and will feature eye-tracking technology. There have also been rumors that Apple could be turning to a 4K display for future iPads, but the report claims that the 2K version will be released first followed by the 4K version at a later date.

According to the reports, the alleged iPad Pro could see a release this fall, which is also around the time that Apple will most likely launch its new iPhones, but the sources have also suggested that winter 2014 or spring 2015 as likely candidates for a release. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Is anyone interested in a 12.9” iPad with a 2K/4K display? Could this be the “innovation” that Apple’s board of directors wanted from Tim Cook?
