Leaked iPhone 5 logic board shows A6 processor and 4G LTE connectivity

So it seems that Samsung is set to sue Apple if they were to release an iPhone with 4G LTE capabilities, and thanks to some last minute leaks and if Samsung is going to keep to their word, Apple’s iPhone 5 could be hit with some legal trouble as soon as it launches. Pictured above (via HDblog.it) is the alleged logic board belonging to the iPhone 5. It shows off Apple’s A6 processor along with the MDM9615M modem that will bring LTE connectivity to the device. Also spotted is a nano SIM slot which corroborates earlier reports that nano SIM cards were being shipped to carriers in anticipation of the iPhone 5 that supposedly will be using the new SIMs. Could this logic board be the real deal? If it is we guess there aren’t really many surprises left in Apple’s announcement, but do check back with us in a couple of hours as we’ll be back with the official details.

iPhone 5 name turns up in search results on Apple's site

Apple offered a hint of the name in its invitation to today’s event, but it looks like a slip-up on its own website may have now let the cat of the bag. Searching for “iphone-5” brings up a number of results for (as yet nonexistent) pages related to a device that seems to clearly be called the “iPhone 5.” What’s more, as 9 to 5 Mac notes, there are also references to a “new iPod touch with Retina Display” and a new iPod nano, as well as a similar indication that iTunes 11 is set to be released today.

Update: 9 to 5 Mac has also turned up another search result that would seem to confirm the presence of LTE in the new iPhone.

iPhone 5 named “confirmed” via search results

While Apple has yet to make an official announcement, some are speculating that the next-gen iPhone will be either called the iPhone 5, or the “new” iPhone which was the name that Apple decided to give its third-gen iPad. Well it seems like thanks to a quick search Apple’s website, the “iPhone 5” moniker can more or less be confirmed by the search results. The links in the search cannot be clicked at the moment, which we guess isn’t too surprising given that Apple probably doesn’t want to let all the cats out of their proverbial bag before its announcement. In any case the name seems to have been confirmed, so the only thing left is for us to wait and see if the design and its specs are similar to that of the rumors, leaks and speculations that we have come across in the past. So, are you relieved that it will be called the iPhone 5 instead of “the new iPhone”?

iPhone 5 name confirmed by Apple site search goof [Update: LTE too!]

Apple’s own search tool has apparently confirmed the name of the iPhone 5, with the company’s site showing links – currently unresolved – to the new smartphone’s press release. The name of the new handset has been widely discussed, with some expecting Apple to follow the example of the “new iPad” and simply call its updated handset the “new iPhone.”

However, if the search results are to be believed, Apple has kept with tradition and followed the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S with the iPhone 5.

9to5Mac, which spotted the search goof, also discovered that there’s a prematurely prepared URL for a new iPod touch and iPod nano press release. As with the iPhone 5, there’s no actual detail confirmed – we only have URLs, and clicking them gets a 404 error page – but it’s at least confirmation of rumors that new iPods were also in the pipeline.

We’ll know all the details at Apple’s press event earlier today, which SlashGear will be liveblogging from 10AM PT (1PM ET; 6PM UK). Join us at live.slashgear.com for all the news as it happens!

Update: Some more search shuffling turns up apparent confirmation that there will be LTE, 9to5Mac discovers:
