Bike2Power Bravo announced, your iPhone will be safer than ever before

bike2powerFor the average iPhone owner, there seems to be one single accessory that they truly need to get right from the get go, which is a case of some sort. Well, these cases or sleeves tend to be more stylish than anything else, but do they offer a better level of protection, or at least up to the level expected by the iPhone owner? Perhaps it is time you took a look at other models, such as the Bike2Power’s Bravo that has been described to be a fully waterproof and shockproof aluminum case for the iPhone 5. Not only does your iPhone 5 receive the relevant amount of protection, it also has more flair and style to deliver protection against the likes of water, dust, dirt, mud, snow and impact all the time.

No longer do you need to keep the iPhone’s sleek look and feel hidden behind cheap plastic cases or to fall back on old-style aluminum bumpers that are basically useless against water. The Bravo Case will be able to go swimming with you literally, although there really isn’t any reason to do so, as it is waterproof down to 6 feet, with the ability to be able to withstand the impact of a free fall from over six feet on a hard concrete floor – even at multiple angles. Despite such capability, it measures a mere 5.54″ x 2.85″ x 0.49″, clearly making it is one of the slimmest waterproof iPhone 5 cases that are available in the market.

You will not find yourself using a gimped iPhone 5 with the Bravo case, since in spite of the heavy protection offered, the entire slew of features found on the iPhone 5 remain accessible. What makes the Bravo case different from other waterproof phone cases? It will have the screen protector adhered onto the handset itself, which means the chances of having air bubbles trapped between the screen protector and the touchscreen display will be minimized. The screen protector itself will be pressed against an O-ring on the front cover so that it offers enough rigidity to seal the case against water. The asking price for the Bravo case is $99.95 a pop, as it comes in silver and black anodized aluminum.

Popslate iPhone 5 Case Has E-ink Screen: Kindling

Last year we heard about the YotaPhone, a smartphone that has two screens – the usual full color touchscreen and an E-ink screen. A small company has come up with a case for the iPhone 5 that gives Apple’s smartphone a similar set up to the YotaPhone. Called the Popslate, the case has an E-ink display at the back.

popslate iphone 5 e ink case

The Popslate’s screen draws power from the iPhone 5′s battery via the Lightning connector, but because it’s an E-ink screen it shouldn’t make a large dent in the phone’s battery. As for its usefulness, many of the same things that can be said about the YotaPhone apply to the Popslate as well. You can leave a map or recipe on there, read books and do other things that require an always-on screen. The makers of Popslate also said that they’ll develop an open API so other people can make apps that work with the case.

It all sounds good, but even though the $119(USD) device was successfully crowdfunded on Indiegogo and is now available for pre-order, I don’t think you should reserve one just yet. The demo above is clearly a mock-up – as Vimeo users pointed out, E-ink screens don’t refresh as smoothly as the one shown in the video. I’d suggest that you wait for a review or at least a demo of the finished product before you even consider getting one.

BrickCase for iPhone 5

Having a spanking new smartphone is always a joyous occasion, and there is also very good reason to make sure that the particular smartphone you have purchased has been given the necessary protection, too. What? You mean to say that your iPhone 5 remains naked, and is more than vulnerable to tiny scratches, drops and shocks? Heaven forbid, which is why you need to invest in the £19.99 BrickCase for iPhone 5, which will come in black, blue, green, red, and get this – Glow in the Dark colors. I kid you not, that is what the product description says!

The BrickCase for iPhone 5 is compatible with all major brick brands, where it will allow you to accessorize it whatever way you want to. I strongly suspect that getting this would also mean making a trip to the nearest Toys R Us and picking up one of your favorite LEGO sets, although the missus might not approve of such action. Despite the rather toy-like look, it sports a sturdy protective case that offers access to all ports and buttons.

Griffin announces Survivor + Catalyst Waterproof Case for iPhone 5

You know that your smartphone is one of the more expensive impulse purchases that you can make (from the technological point of view that is unlike jewelry or an expensive watch, where the final price point is not to say that expensive, and yet it is crucial enough to warrant a purchase), so it makes perfect sense to do your bit and purchase adequate protection for it. Case in point (pardon the pun) would be Griffin’s Survivor + Catalyst Waterproof Case for iPhone 5, where it will bring together Catalyst’s expertise in designing waterproof products alongside more than two decades of experience at Griffin as one of the most established companies in the iOS accessory space.

Touted to be one of the most technical waterproof products available in the market as at press time, this is certainly a whole lot more convincing compared to the original Survivor case by Griffin. Its predecessor (and of course, also its inspiration) was built to military standards, and it has also lived to be synonymous with extreme-duty protection for mobile devices, making it ready for everyday life and adventures. In fact, the Survivor has become one of Griffin’s best-selling protective case ever since it debuted a couple of years ago.

Griffin continues to lead the way where the protective case industry is concerned by rolling out the Survivor + Catalyst Waterproof Case for iPhone 5, although you will need to trade $79.99 to bring one of these bad boys home. Specially designed and built for freedom in and around water, the Survivor + Catalyst Waterproof Case is able to go whenever and wherever adventure beckons. This particular waterproof case is 9.8 feet deep (3 meters) and has been drop-tested to 6.6 feet (2 meters), while at the same time delivering full access to all of the iPhone’s features.

It is also ultra-rugged and waterproof, ensuring that the iPhone 5 remains well protected from the elements without having to sacrifice the ability to photograph, video, take calls, listen to audio and even plug in to recharge the iPhone battery while being protected. This is made possible thanks to button covers, while its crystal clear housing enables users to showcase their iPhone in addition to having them visually inspect the main o-ring seal for reliable waterproof protection.

Any takers? It ought to arrive later this month for those who are interested.

iBattz announces Mojo Hi5 Powerbank Case

Have you heard of iBattz before? If you haven’t, here is a quick skinny on the situation. They are basically a company that rolls out intelligent power solutions, and the latest addition to their line up would be the Mojo Hi5 Powerbank Case. This also marks their first foray into the protective battery case market, especially for Apple’s latest iPhone 5. To put it in a nutshell, the Mojo Hi5 Powerbank Case is a two-part protective case which will boast a detachable 2500mAh aluminum battery that enables users to power up on the go. This particular battery is not only thin, it is also lightweight in nature and will complement the iPhone 5’s minimalistic design. Of course, powering up an iPhone is not all it can do, as it also offers the ability to juice up other USB devices.

Functionality and design were the key components when it came to the development of the Mojo Hi5. You can tell from the sleek looking outer case that fuses flawlessly with the slim form of the iPhone 5. As the iPhone 5’s owner, you do have the option to use the battery or simply just protect your phone with the thin yet protective case. Thanks to its rather beefy 2500mAh battery that attaches to the case effortlessly to charge your communications device on the go, it can also be easily removed to juice up other USB enabled devices.

With the Mojo Hi5 Powerbank case and its 2500mAh battery also comes matte black and gloss white cases, a USB to Micro USB charging cable, a Velcro strap and a short flex USB cable for charging the iPhone 5 when connected with the Apple Lightning to micro USB adapter. Of course, for those who have picked up the iPhone 5 on a contract would figure out that forking out another $79.90 just for another smartphone case might be painful to your bank account, but think of all those moments when you needed your battery to go the extra mile only to fail you at the very last minute.

Holga Lets You Strap Analog Photo Filters On To Your iPhone 5

The Holga iPhone Case Filter and FX case looks like the love child of a rotary phone and a Disney Princess kaleidoscope viewer. However, what it does offer, is an ability to add Instagram-esque filters, analog-style. The case comes from toy camera giant Holga, which has made its whole business based on the happy accidents of light-leaks and underexposure. 11 different filters and lenses are mounted on a rotary dial which lets you choose which one you want to use. The best part is the price, which is a surprisingly affordable $30 for the ability to significantly expand your iPhone 5′s photography capabilities. That’s the right price for a novelty case: sure it may be bulky, but slapping it on before you go out shooting could be a lot of fun.

Sorry, the yellow version is iPhone 5 only, but there is an iPhone 4-compatible model. Buy yours here.
