Over the past couple of days we have seen photos of the iPhone 5C leaked. We’ve seen its components and photos of the device in its entirety, and if you’re wondering just how the iPhone 5C holds up against its siblings, past and present, Sonny Dickson, who has been responsible for the earlier photos, has uploaded a video in which a yellow iPhone 5C is compared against the likes of older iPhones. This includes the first iPhone, the iPhone 3G/3GS, iPhone 4/4S, and the iPhone 5. Of course the iPhone 5C in the video is not the actual product, but rather the back housing of the device, but it still gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect anyway.

Based on the video, we can see that the iPhone 5C is almost similar in size to the iPhone 5, possibly due to similar dimensions albeit slightly thicker due to its plastic body, but other than that the video seems to corroborate all the rumors and leaks we’ve seen so far. In any case Apple is expected to announce the device come the 10^th of September, so we’ll definitely keep our eyes peeled. For those looking forward to official information, assuming the 10^th of September is to be believed, we won’t have to wait much longer to see if it pans out!

Apple is rumored to release two new iPhones next month, apart from the next generation iPhone, the company is also expected to unveil its first ever budget or low cost iPhone. Many monikers are being thrown around, this device is widely known as the iPhone 5C or the iPhone Lite. The moniker doesn’t matter that much, what most people are intrigued about are the specifications. It appears that there is a possibility of Apple’s low cost iPhone not having all of the features one can find in a full fledged iPhone, analyst Gene Munster at Piper Jaffray believes that Siri won’t be present on the budget iPhone.

Munster also says that Apple is likely to price this smartphone around $300. He mentions the possibility that instead of offering iPhone 4S free on contract, Apple would replace it with the budget iPhone, which will be sold for a fixed price and won’t require customers to take up a two year contract with a carrier. No concrete reason has been provided as to why Apple would willingly not provide Siri in the budget iPhone, not to mention the fact that the fifth generation iPod touch already offers it. Could this be a move to safeguard consumer interest for the full fledged iPhone, those who want Siri have to dish out a few hundred dollars more? It can’t be said for sure. Hopefully the official details will be unveiled soon, as per recent rumors, Apple might make an iPhone related announcement on September 10th.

Come 10^th of September, we expect Apple will introduce at least two new devices – the iPhone 5S, and the iPhone 5C. We’re sure most of you guys know that the iPhone 5S will be the successor to the iPhone 5 and could feature upgraded specs and maybe even a fingerprint sensor, but the iPhone 5C will be a low-cost alternative to the higher-end iPhone. We’ve seen the iPhone 5C pop up many times in leaked photos in the past, and now Sonny Dickson has posted an entire gallery worth of high-resolution shots of the alleged device.

Unsurprisingly the photos show a phone which is similar to what we have encountered in the past, although this time we are looking at the iPhone 5C in a green finish. The leaked photos don’t really tell us anything new about the device that we did not already know, although the specifications of the iPhone 5C remain unknown at this point in time. Come 10^th of September, Apple is rumored to hold an event in which the company will announce their new iPhone models. Since nothing is official at the moment, no one knows what the new iPhone models will be called, although many are speculating that the iPhone 5S will be one of them, given Apple’s trend of naming their phones in the past. Japanese website Macotakara has “confirmed” that the successor to the iPhone 5 will indeed be called the iPhone 5S, and they are also “confirming” that Apple’s low-cost iPhone will be known as the iPhone 5C whose name was hinted at in leaked packaging designs.

While the iPhone 5S moniker seems to be a given, there are probably some who might not think that this is the case, especially since Apple went with the “new” iPad moniker for the 3^rd gen iPad, rather than iPad 3 which was what many had initially predicted. As for the iPhone 5C, that’s pretty much up in the air, with some speculating that the “C” initial could stand for “color” in the sense that the phone could come in a variety of colors apart from the usual black or white options. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but with the rumored 10^th of September announcement being a little less than a month away, we guess we won’t have to wait too long to see if the rumors pan out!

Not only that, there are some whispers going around that tout the pricing details of the iPhone 5C, citing a price point which resides somewhere in the region of $490.
