Infomotion Sports Technologies was on hand at CES Unveiled here in NYC this week and they wowed me with their 94Fifty Smart Sensor Basketball. It’s a pretty regular-looking regulation size and weight basketball, that can measure and diagnose your skills, helping you up your game, just like a tiny coach you can carry around in your pocket. Yup, a basketball coach for your iPhone – there’s an app for that! 

This nifty, unassuming ball utilizes nine sensors located inside it, enabling it to deliver real-time shooting and ball-handling feedback including shot speed, backspin and arc measurements, and it sends all that useful info directly to your iPhone or iPod touch. The 94Fifty includes a companion app, that allows you to choose specific skills to work on, opt to compete with other players around the world via Twitter, or simply work through levels of increasingly difficult workouts.

Imagine a ball that can precisely measure your skill set, and then quickly utilize that data in order to “coach” you with proven, personalized methods meant to improve shooting mechanics, shot release speed, shooting arc, power dribbling, hand-speed, mental coordination, and many other skills that have been traditionally impossible to measure.

Hot coffee, the elixir of early risers and sleepy people everywhere. Its hard to imagine a world without a nice cup of coffee waiting for us to soothe our souls, perk us up or bring us back to life. In a perfect world, coffee would make itself while I was still in bed and arrive at my bedside via a tall blonde bodybuilder with a subtle European accent of some kind. I can dream, can’t I?

In the meantime, there’s iKettle, allowing you to instantly control hot beverage making from anywhere in your house by using your iPhone. Simply set your system to Wake Mode, and the next morning you will be gently called to consciousness and asked if you would like to have the kettle on. ( not sure about the accent) If your answer is yes, you will later be asked if you’d like it to be kept warm. 

Maybe coffee isn’t your thing and it’s a nice relaxing cup of tea that get’s you rolling. iKettle has four precise temperature settings, designed to help you achieve the perfect brew whether it be green tea, or java. I am not quite sure about you, but when it comes to making a presentation, there are some essential tools that one will have to take into consideration. This is a particular iPhone case that will be able to enhance your handset’s current camera with fisheye, telephoto and wide-angle lenses. The hard plastic case itself will be able to fit in an iPhone 4 or 4S without any issue (sorry, iPhone 5s owners!), while it has a three-lens dial that can rotate to cover the smartphone’s built-in lens using the desired attachment.

The 15mm fisheye will feature up to a 180° angle of view and 0.28X magnification, while the 11mm wide-angle can capture a 130° panorama and magnifies up to 0.67X, with the 12mm telephoto lens being able to get 2X closer compared to the maximum zoom setting on the basic iPhone camera. One thing’s for sure. I am an animal lover. Since I was a kid I have always felt like my life was enhanced by sharing it with a little creature of some kind. The only time I question pet parenthood is when I have to leave the little guy alone for a while. I always picture them bored and lonely, or worse, eating my couch to pay me back for my selfishness.
