4102zweR5YL._SX342_

I never carry a purse. I hate them. I can never fondle all the things I want to touch while shopping. It doesn’t leave my hands free to talk on the phone or carry packages, and worst of all, there’s always the threat of leaving it somewhere. (and yes… that has happened to me) I’m pretty much a shove the phone and a credit card in my pocket kind of a girl, not the most appropriate way of doing things either…

Welcome the iPhone Storage Case, saving people like me, from lost keys, cash and credit cards one phone at a time. This unique and stylish little case comes with a hidden storage compartment for your cards and ID. Made of high quality polycarbonate with a nifty rubber coating that gives it a nice matte finish as well as a non-slip grip the iPhone storage case has a hinged backplate that opens up enough space for at least three credit-sized cars and some cash.

The iPhone Storage case allows your iPhone to slide right in, fastens securely and still allows easy access to all your phones important controls. With cases for both the iPhone 4/4S and the 5, the iPhone Storage Case comes in a wide variety of colors including chartreuse, black, orange, pink, purple, red or turquoise and even includes a little mirror, all for under 25 bucks. Tile – Tells You Where it’s At

Unknown-2

I recently told you guys about iTrail, a nifty little electronic that lets you know what your kids, (or pets) are up to. I feel pretty prepared to keep tabs on them. What I have not mastered is the ability to keep track of my keys, phone and wallet! If I had a dollar for every time I had to yell to my family “has anyone seen my….?” I’d be a very rich woman indeed.

Well, here comes an iOS gizmo named Tile to my rescue, a very small electronic tag with a self contained speaker that will easily let you hear it when you are in proximity. (So no more trying to locate your phone by calling it, only to find that the battery is dead.) The associated Tile app, saves the last place your items were, and you can even watch yourself get closer or further away during your hunt, helping you to easily zero in on your target.

Set up is simple, you just grab your Tile out of the box, and press the “e”, then go to the Tile app and add the Tile by holding it up to your iPhone. Tiles can be hung from an item, like a keychain,  it can be dropped into a purse or wallet, or it can be stuck to things like a phone or laptop. You can use up to 10 Tiles on any account, and you can access the account from other phones (I wondered about how it would work if I lost the phone that I use to view the tracking info) the range is only about 150 feet, but The interesting concept of this tracking device is that the signal can be picked up by anyones nearby Tile, so the range could become limitless, assuming enough people get on board.

The Tiles are pretty expensive and they only last about a year, but the developers vow to make replacements less expensive as time goes on, and lets face it I really only need 3. Hey! Has anyone seen my wallet? Pre-order now for under 20 bucks at thetileapp.com

BoostTurbine 4000 lets you literally crank out power

BoostTurbine-4000

Keeping your phone charged is a pretty important task. After all, these days our smartphones are practically our lifeline to the rest of the world. Most people can’t be without theirs for more than an hour, without worrying that they’re missing important messages, emails, or calls. So what do you do when you’re in a situation where the power is out, or you simply don’t have access to an outlet? Well, sometimes you have to make your own power.

This BoostTurbine 4000 is a backup battery pack that does more than simply holds some juice for your phone. It incorporates a hand crank that will allow you to recharge the battery without needing to plug it into the wall. So how much power does the cranking get you? The company says that one minute of cranking will net you enough for a four-minute call, and a few texts, though it does depend on how much power your phone uses.

This BoostTurbine 4000 has a large enough battery to charge most smartphones two times over. And if cranking it by hand isn’t necessary, you aren’t limited to that. You can still charge it up by plugging it into a USB port on your PC, or into a wall adapter. You can have one of your own for just $80.

Knock Knock? iDoor Cam lets You Know Who’s There

device-iso-angle-1-web450-left-270x300-1

I’m a very private person. I never answer my door unless I knew you were coming. I figure it this way, it just takes a phone call to let me know you want to stop by, and if you’re my friend you know I’m simply not one of those folks you can just drop in on because you were “in the neighborhood”. That being said, I’m still curious about whose out there knocking, and I always feel a little weird peeping through my own drapes.

Well, peep no more! Check out the iDoor Cam, made just for your iOS, the iDoor not only lets you see who it is waiting out there for you, but you can hear them, and even talk to them via your iOS device, and never even have to move out of your favorite chair. iDoor replaces your current door bell, connects to your WiFi and will alert your device when someone “rings your bell” then you decide to answer, or just keep doing what you’re doing. The best part? An associated app allows you to answer your door on the fly… so you’ll even know when packages arrive or your Girl Scout Cookies are in.

With the iDoor, you never have to miss out seeing someone you wanted to catch up with, but you can avoid the vacuum cleaner salesman and the pesky neighbor who always wants to borrow something. Made in America and weather proof, iDoor Cam is WiFi enabled and encrypted and allows screen shots, or recordings of your door activity and the patented motion, infared, webcam and cellular technology broadcast directly to your mobile devices, day or night. Watch the movie, then pre-order the iDoor Cam at indigogo.com for well under 150 bucks, and watch for Android coming soon.

OFF Pocket blocks all signals to your phone, and keeps you untrackable

OFF-Pocket

There are a lot of reasons to be worried about your privacy these days. It seems as though our emails, phone calls and texts are all subject to viewing by a government agency somewhere. You can prevent this sort of tracking by using some services to encrypt your messages, but what about the fact that your phone can be used to track your location at any given time? You’ll need some extra protection against that.

The OFF Pocket is a small pouch for your phone that blocks virtually every signal that is sent to and from your phone. This includes WiFi, cellular and GPS signals. This is accomplished by using a special fabric that’s made up of metalized fibers. These fibers are able to block any signals that try to get through. The exterior of the case is both strong, and repels water, to ensure that your phone is safe and sound inside the pocket. Interestingly, they’ve chosen to hold the opening flap in place by using elastic bands, rather than any other fastener.

If you need to make sure that you can’t be tracked down, even when your phone is turned off, this OFF Pocket will set you back $85 on their Kickstarter page. Personally, I can’t recall a time that I was ever concerned that someone was tracking my location, but I suppose it’s simply the principle of the matter.

iPhone 5 Polycarbonate Wallet

polycarbonate-walletIt is not every single day that we come across an iPhone case that is different from the rest, and this particular puppy, the $34.95 iPhone 5 Polycarbonate Wallet happens to not only provide your iPhone 5 with an adequate amount of protection against knocks, scratches, and even soften the blow should your sweaty palms happen to let it slip from your grip, but it also comes with the added storage space for you to stash away some cash, credit cards, and even identification documents.

Sporting a hinged back, the case will open up for you to put away your earthly “treasures”, and would come in handy just in case of an emergency, especially when your wallet is stolen and all you have left is your iPhone 5. Not only that, the compartment itself will snap shut for secure, hidden storage, and will come with an integrated mirror. It is made out of hard shell polycarbonate which offers a decent level of impact resistance and a rubberized coating which will pave the way for a confident grip. The compartment door itself can also double up as a stand should you decide to use your iPhone 5 as a movie playback device.

MYO Armband – Control with the Snap of a Finger

images-1

I’m a huge fan of Sci-Fi, all the futuristic gizmos and gadgets get me dreaming about what life could be like one day. I’m especially drawn to movies with all that nifty gesture controlled tech stuff. (think Minority Report and Iron Man) I was pretty excited about Microsoft’s Kinect, but it wasn’t exactly what I had envisioned 10 years ago and I’m still waiting to be impressed. My time may have come…

Check out the MYO Armband, making the science fiction of your dreams a reality, this device is the real deal in gesture driven computer control. The MYO Armband is worn on your forearm and works by picking up electrical activities in your muscles (the ones that work your fingers and wrist) as they make gestures, translating that movement into computer commands. How cool is that?

The most outstanding difference between the MYO Armband and Kinect or Leap motion controller is that instead of waving and jumping around with exaggerated movements in order to be picked up, the MYO Armband can also detect very fine movements, like that of a surgeon, and even the simplest and most subtle finger movement can be read just as easily as a sweeping hand gesture.

Right now, MYO is working as a substitute for existing controllers for some games and devices like Sphero and a remote controlled helicopter drone. It can turn up the volume for you, control some gaming weapons, but thats just the baby steps, developers are looking to release an open source API soon, allowing millions of developers to come up with uses for MYO in conjunction with iPhone and iPad. This technology is going somewhere. Keep an eye on it, and if you want to be part of the fun, you can pre-order your MYO Armband from thalmic.com for under 150 bucks, or at least go check out the video…

FlameStower uses fire to recharge your phone

flamestower

These days it gets harder and harder to get away from it all. No matter where we are in our daily lives, we can be reached in moments via call, text, instant message, or email. And when you decide to go on a camping trip with your family, those same people don’t seem to understand that one of the reasons for going is to disconnect. So how to you strike a compromise between bringing only the essentials, and still being able to be reached? You can start by taking using your campfire to recharge your phone.

The FlameStower is an interesting product that will charge your gadgets by using two elements that you’re sure to have plenty of while you’re camping: water and fire. It’s odd to think that under normal circumstances, these are two things you would want to keep your phone a safe distance from. In order to use this gadget, you just unfold it, pour in some water, and put it near an open flame, or other heat source. Then, plug in your phone, and within a few seconds, you should start getting a charge. It will charge pretty slowly, with a maximum output of 3W, but that’s to be expected with this type of power source.

The other great thing about this charger is that it has uses beyond camping. When you have a power outage, you tend to turn to candles as a steady source of light. Why not use a large candle to slowly charge up your phone, in case you need it? If you want a FlameStower for yourself, you can pre-order one for $70, and get it sometime in the late fall.

Wally iPhone Wallet Case stores all of your essentials with your phone

wally-iphone-wallet

For many years I carried around a leather wallet, which had cash, my ID, debit cards, and loyalty cards for various stores. If you’ve never carried a wallet like this, you can’t understand how much of an annoyance it can be while you’re sitting down. I finally wised up a couple of years back, and went through the contents of my wallet, and realized that I could finally get rid of most of them. Most loyalty programs could be looked up by phone number, or I could use an iPhone app to keep track of the cards digitally. Thanks to digital banking, I rarely carry cash. So what’s the point in a wallet, right? All you need is a place to stash your ID and a debit card and/or credit card.

Since we all carry a phone these days, it’s logical that we would want to keep our phones and cards together. There are plenty of cases out there that will allow you to do this, but they do tend to add a little extra bulk to the phone. The Wally iPhone Wallet is unique in that it adds a pocket to the back of your phone, but doesn’t actually wrap around the entire thing. Instead, it uses micro-suction backing, that firmly locks it to the back of your phone.

Since it doesn’t actually wrap around your phone, it doesn’t offer all of the protection of a traditional case. However, depending on the design of your existing case, it can be used in conjunction with what you already have. If you want to try keeping your cards and your phone together, then this accessory will set you back $39.

SurfSound-PLAY waterproof speaker from Pyle Audio
