Reward Tags – What do YOU have to Lose?

There is something worse than just losing some of your more expensive gadgets, like cameras or laptops, and that’s all the stuff that’s on them. I knew it was a mistake when I let my daughter take my camera on a field trip to the Statue of Liberty, yes, she left it on the bus and remembered it when she got home. I will decline to discuss that her grandmother actually chaperoned the trip and knew to watch out for the camera. I wasn’t as devastated by the camera as I was the hundreds of memories left on that thing…

Most of us have felt the sting of a loss like that, and we know in our hearts we’ll never see the stuff again, but these new reward tags are a great way to up the odds in your favor. These durable, adhesive, polyester tags attach to your favored valuable items and, by using a special code assigned to your item you can easily provide contact information as well as offering a brief message to whomever finds it, and further entice them to return it, by giving them a reward.

Users affix the tags to almost anything they might like to see again should they lose it, like cell phones, keys, iPads or even jackets or handbags, next, you create an account, activate your tags and then enter your message and information at the rewardtag.com website. People who find an item are directed to the same website by your tag and are able to find your message and reward via a unique ID code.

I think that people are basically good, AND that most people will log on to look up your message and the combination of a heartfelt personal appeal coupled with a monetary reward may actually be enough for you to get your stuff back. How about you? The tags are certainly inexpensive enough to give it a try, 15 tags for 20 bucks at rewardtag.com. Oh, BTW, we got the camera back… from a passenger that recognized us in the pictures.See? People really are good.

Highly confidential iPad and iPhone prototypes spotted in court documents

We all know just how Apple has been at the forefront of design in their products all these years, and here we are with what was dug up by The Verge – highly confidential prototypes of the iPad and the iPhone. Bear in mind that these are extremely early iPad and iPhone design prototypes, so they are very far from what you see today. The iPhone that you first saw all the way back in 2007 had smooth, curved angles, but those that were in the prototype stage sported an octagonal design – with sharp edges.

The prototypes were discovered in unredacted court exhibits which were filed on Thursday, and it did allow the general masses to be able to check out a rather rare look at Apple’s extremely secretive design process prior to arriving at the doorsteps of consumers, according to The Verge. The reason these prototypes were revealed was not because Apple volunteered to do so, but rather, they were forced to divulge the information after a July 30 jury trial against Samsung.

HISTORY Here – Turns your Life into a Guided Tour

Admittedly I am a bit of a history buff, I love spending weekends finding some old town and checking out the sights. I’ve always said I would like to take a walking tour or two, the only thing holding me back is that I hate being part of a crowd. I like to explore at my own pace. If only there was a way for me to know what kinds of things took place around me, without paying the guide, and having to walk in a sea of polyester pants and point and shoot cameras.

Well, HISTORY is introducing us to HISTORY Here, a new location based app that can turn your trusty iPhone into a kind of mobile tour-guide-in-your-pocket, that lets you experience the history of wherever it is you are, whenever you want to, in your own sweet time. HISTORY Here brings history to life in thousands of locations throughout the United States, so gather your crew, and take a historic walk. You might just learn something.

HISTORY Here currently has information on more than 3,500 historical locations, many of which are supplemented with exclusive videoswritten content and pictures to create a dynamic visitor’s guide. For example, visitors to New York’s Brooklyn Bridge will learn that 150,000 vehicles and pedestrians cross the bridge each day and users also have access to an exclusive HISTORY video that tells the dramatic story of the Roebling family, the designers and architects who saw the project to its completion. Neat.

The HISTORY Here app can act like a virtual travel guide and provides information based  on either current location or manual input of a specific destination. Users can simply tap the icons on screen to dig into a deep history of many locations and landmarks that cover our beautiful land. So make the most out of your next trip to the grocery store, and find out what happened where you live way before you got there. For free, at the i Tunes app store. Now who wouldn’t like that?

There are speakers, and then to jazz things up a bit in your humble abode, there are speaker towers. The iHome iP76 can be said to reside in the latter category, sporting a full name of the iHome iP76 LED color changing speaker tower. Well, what makes this speaker tower from iHome so different from the rest that you might want to check it out for yourself? For starters, the name itself gives the game away – you are able to experience a snazzy light show as you listen to your favorite tunes being played back over this particular speaker.

Not only does the light show dazzle the eyes, your ears, too, will be treated to quality audio although I would say this particular model will target the average home user and not an audiophile, who will surely have a thing or two (or perhaps far more) to criticize about. Those who want to spruce up your pad will certainly be able to do well with the iHome iP76 LED color changing speaker tower. After all, it does come with Bluetooth connectivity so that there will be far less cables for you to worry about in your home.

Standing proud at three feet tall, this décor-enhancing showpiece will come with 16 multi-color LED clusters which are more than capable of churning out exciting light effects while delivering smooth sounds thanks to the quartet of high performance speakers. Not only that, as mentioned earlier, the untethered audio experience will let you live a life of freedom thanks to Bluetooth connectivity.

Evan Stein, Director of Marketing, iHome, said, “With its unique design and color-changing capabilities, the iP76 is both a visual and audio delight that is as much fun to look at as it is to listen to. Most importantly, the speaker tower produces vibrant audio for your listening pleasure.”

The iP76 LED Color Changing Tower Bluetooth Stereo Speaker System is capable of turning any living room into a private disco alcove, thanks to its vibrant colors and streaming music from Bluetooth-enabled devices. It will be able to juice up power hungry iPhones and iPods when docked, and is also more than capable of sending video content from your device to your TV courtesy of its integrated component video outputs. Dash – Your new Smartphone Car Stereo

When I’m in the car I never know what to do with my phone, if it’s in my purse I may not find it again for days, I stick it in the cup holder and then I have no place for a drink. Recently I found a way to wedge it in the door handle, it leaves it nicely accessible, but I have had a few incidents where someone opened the door unexpectedly from the outside… so it’s not really the solution I had hoped for, and I’m not getting the most out of my phone.

Here’s an idea that uses your smartphone as the main part of your car’s stereo, I’d like you to meet the Dash. The idea behind the Dash is that it built to fit in the space your boring old stereo used to be, and allows your smartphone to connect and interact with the Dash stereo. Allowing you to take advantage of all the cool features your phone has to offer, safely and easily in your car. Music, navigation and phone calls are all within reach. Not to mention all the other road-friendly apps that can make your drive time more pleasant.

So whether you want to voice text, or check the weather, be alerted to upcoming speed traps or just listen to your favorite local radio station your smartphone will be there for you, mounted safely and securely in your car using special neodymium magnets, and don’t worry, the Dash is charging your phone for you too. The Dash is currently available for pre-order with an iPhone 3GS, 4/4S or iPod Touch Faceplate, but rest assured it will be compatible with most smartphones as the different faceplates become available. iPhone Fan – Call in some Comfort

Global warming? No kidding. This summer has been brutal. With temperatures in the hundreds for the last few days I am willing to try anything to stay cool. Luckily we have air conditioning in the house, but I can’t stay home just because its hot. We have places to go and people to see, whether I want to or not! Maybe it wouldn’t feel so darn miserable if there were a bit of a breeze…

Check out the iPhone Dock Fan from Talme, it simply plugs into the charging port of your iPhone and uses your power supply to keep the breeze blowing. Able to run for up to six hours on a full charge, the iPhone Dock Fan may be just what you need to get through your kids next 4 sessions of sports camp. The fan blades can be adjusted to work in two different directions, depending on how you ‘d like to hold the phone and the blades are made from a soft urethane material that won’t cut your nose off, or any other body parts you’re particularly fond of… very handy.

Although it doesn’t appear that you can actually use the phone to make a call and enjoy the cool breeze while you do so, its still a cute novelty item that could be a plus during whats left of this steamy summer. Designed to work with  the iPhone 3G, 3GS, and 4. It also works well with the Apple iPod Touch 1st through 4th generations and for only 9 bucks at amazon.com, it a fun little accessory to have, just don’t get your hair stuck in it!

Grace Digital Matchstick targets Amazon’s tablet

The world of tablets can be said to be divided into two camps – one that is powered by the iOS operating system from Apple, while the other will run on the Android operating system from Google. However, there is a niche market which is slightly different – those that make up the Nooks and the Amazons out there. Here we are with a rare moment when there is an accessory which was released just for the Amazon’s 7″ tablet. Calling it the MatchStick, this Grace Digital offering will throw in robust stereo sound to Netflix, Pandora Internet radio, audio books as well as the rest of the multimedia capabilities that the Kindle Fire is able to offer.

Basically, the Grace Digital MatchStick speaker dock for the Kindle Fire is their latest creation which is said to offer millions of Kindle Fire users with a device-specific dock specially for their Amazon tablet. It is available over at Amazon.com at the moment, and it will begin to ship as soon as you place your order.

It its previous life, the MatchStick speaker dock was known as the FireDock, and it was specially engineered for Amazon’s Kindle Fire. The MatchStick will come with the unique USB port, headphone jack and power button. All of those are located right at the bottom of the tablet for easy and convenient access. It must be said that the majority of universal 3.5mm speaker docks will not charge devices while in use, but the MatchStick speaker dock for Kindle Fire does not follow convention, charging while on AC power, in addition to the optional (which is sold separately) lithium-ion battery-pack that paves the way for maximum portability.

It was specially and exclusively sized for the Kindle Fire only, where the rotating cradle is capable of holding the 7″ tablet in a secure manner, while accommodating horizontal and vertical viewing angles.
