LG’s ET83 touchscreen Windows 8 monitor, fingers-on

LG's ET83 touchscreen Windows 8 monitor, fingerson

We heard about it some time ago and managed to get some fingers on time with LG’s new 23-inch Windows 8 optimized monitor at today’s CES press conference. It’s a nice looking peripheral, for sure. The IPS panel is cocooned by a black bezel, which meets a white shiny plastic rear at its tips. Along the bottom bezel are a number of touchscreen controls, including things like Menu, for adjusting picture quality and the like. The screen sits on a leg with a large hinge for adjusting your viewing angle. Unfortunately, the single leg support shake a bit when you tap the screen, so you’re going to want go a bit easy when tapping on those Metro tiles.

All in all, its quite responsive. We were able to tap and slide through the Microsoft UI in a breeze. As long as you’re not too aggressive with you’re touchscreening, it looks to be a pretty nice compliment to Microsoft’s latest desktop operating system.

HP Pavilion 20xi to 27xi IPS LCD Monitors

hp 2401 xi 04 640x424 HP Pavilion 20xi to 27xi IPS LCD Monitors

CES 2013] The HP Pavilion line has always been about “bang for the buck”, so introducing IPS displays in that line-up makes sense. Most of the models (22xi, 23xi, 25xi and 27xi) feature a 1080p resolution, but the smallest 20xi does not (it tops at 1600×900), and it’s probably OK for a mid-range 20″ monitor. All of them offer a variety of input options, namely VGA, HDMI, DVI-D.

The IPS is the star of the show here, because if it wasn’t for that special detail, the rest of the specifications aren’t out of the ordinary, and the design itself is decent, but not fantastic either. That said, check the prices: the 20xi will cost $129.99 and the 27xi will sell for an MSRP of $339.99 which seems to land  right in the normal price range (street price) for this type of IPS monitors. What do you think? What’s your monitor brand of choice these days?

LG has new IPS displays in store for CES 2013

You know that CES 2013 is going to be a blast when different consumer electronics companies come together and hope to wow the world with what they are able to offer. LG of South Korea is definitely one of them, and you can expect them to have a blast at CES this year (which is just happening next week, can you believe it!), where they will parade, among many other consumer electronics goodies, their stunning UltraWide, ColorPrime and Touch 10 monitors that feature specialized functionality and stellar IPS technology.

Yes sir, LG’s latest collection of spanking new IPS monitors will debut at CES 2013, where this high caliber range will include innovative concepts that help cater to the needs of the specialist as well as the everyday, casual user. Comprising of the UltraWide, ColorPrime and Touch 10 range, there is something for everyone, and all three models come with IPS technology to ensure that the kind of visuals your eyeballs enjoy are exceptional to say the least. We are talking about next generation picture quality that LG hopes will be the benchmark for displays for the year ahead.

For instance, LG’s EA93 UltraWide monitor is touted to be the world’s first monitor to feature a 21:9 aspect ratio, measuring a whopping 29” in size, it delivers outstanding multitasking and multimedia capabilities. It is also an ideal replacement for your living room TV, and comes with LG’s immersive, thin-bezel Cinema Screen Design. If you need to perform some serious multitasking, then the 4-Screen Split feature would be able to conveniently divide the UltraWide’s screen into four discrete segments.

As for the Touch 10 Monitor, this is a Windows 8 optimized device that delivers 10-finger Touch Control, all 23-inches of it. This would translate to a quicker and more natural typing experience whenever you make use of the Windows 8 on-screen keyboard, and smartphone users ought to take to it like a duck to water. With so many displays to choose from, we’re spoiled for choice for 2013 when it comes to monitors.

AOC's 23inch IPS monitor almost skips the bezel, ships soon for $199

Close on the heels of its “virtually borderless” (when it’s turned off) 27-inch IPS monitor, display maker AOC has come up with a smaller sibling to add to the family. The 23-incher, tagged the i2367fh, totes similar styling and specs — IPS technology, a claimed 2mm bezel, 1920 x 1080 resolution with 50,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 5ms response time and two HDMI ports. The off timer function its predecessor sported also remains. However the new model, which is part of a different series, can’t boast of the same height-adjustable stand and 4-watt speakers, integrating a 2-watt pair instead. The monitor carries a $199 sticker, but you can snag it for 10 bucks lower on backorder from B&H Photo and Amazon — stock is expected later this month.

LG's 29inch EA93 is the world's first 219 ultrawidescreen monitor to go on sale

While “ultrawidescreen” 21:9 aspect ratio HDTVs haven’t taken off despite several attempts, LG is bringing the formfactor to the desktop with its new EA93 UltraWide LCD monitor. Measuring at 29-inches with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,080, it uses the extra horizontal space to display not just cinema-style movies, but also side by side video from different sources or up to four different views at once thanks to its built-in software. For connections, it has DVI Dual Link, DisplayPort, or HDMI with MHL support. We got an eyeful of the monitor at IFA earlier this year and you can check out our hands-on video after the break, or take a quick Korean vacation to snag one for 690,000 won ($633) before they go on sale everywhere else later in the year — pricing elsewhere has not yet been announced.
