DIY Iron Man Muscle-Controlled Repulsor Glove: Jedi Muscle Trick

To promote his company’s muscle sensor, Brian Kaminski of Advancer Technologies built a toy replica of Iron Man’s repulsor glove. All you have to do is curl your fingers to charge it up and then spread them to unleash devastating… tiny flashes of light. It does play a recording of JARVIS spewing polite technobabble, so that’s kind of empowering.

But before you get Tony Stark’s gloves, you have to have a bit of his smarts. This project involves a fair bit of improvising and soldering to complete, including making an Arduino shield that controls the muscle sensor.

I imagine hacks like this will be a lot easier and complex when the MYO arm band is released. But for now head to Instructables if you want to know how to make Advancer Tech’s repulsor glove.

Iron Man 3 Flash Drives Power Up

Comic book geeks are perhaps the single greatest consumer of themed flash drives. If you’re a fan of Iron Man and are looking forward to the third movie in the franchise hitting theaters this summer, it may be time to you to start stocking up on some collectible flash drives. Three Iron Man 3 flash drives are coming out just in time for the blockbuster flick to arrive.

I happen to think the coolest of the three is Iron Man’s Repulsor hand. When the flash drive is plugged into the USB port, the light in the center of the hand that Iron Man uses as a weapon glows blue. Another cool drive in the trio looks like Tony Stark’s Arc Reactor, complete with a little animated light show when plugged in:

The third branded flash drive looks like the red, white and blue Iron Patriot head. All of the flash drives have retractable USB ports and are available with 8 GB or 16 GB of storage. While I haven’t found them in the U.S. yet, you can pre-order the Arc Reactor and the Repulsor Hand over at Australia’s Mighty Ape now.

Iron Man suit for sale

So you want to be a genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist, but lack the looks, smarts and money to play the role? Never mind then, you can always dress up in Tony Stark’s alter ego, the mechanized Iron Man who seems to be invincible when it comes to taking in all the heavy hittin’ from enemies, regardless of which dimension that they come from. In a nutshell, this Iron Man suit might just be the only weapon you will ever need, although it still puzzles me where does Tony Stark go when he wants to relieve himself in the midst of battle. This Iron Man suit will not come cheap either, as it carries a price tag of £250,000, which is a relative bargain when you compare to what it offers. I would dare say that a full fledged Iron Man suit packs far more firepower than a couple of F-35s, and yet to cost a mere drop in the ocean compared to those futuristic jet fighters? It is a steal.

Specially crafted from a mix of steel and carbon, it will also ensure that the iconic red/gold Iron Man colors are featured for easy identification. The Mark XLVII headset utilizes projected holographic technology, while the presence of hand-mounted stabilization jets ensures that you do not simply fall out from the sky. Those will work in tandem with the thigh-mounted flare development system, helping deliver optimum flight control, while there are cameras located on the shoulders as well as wrists for improved flight-safety.

All right, so it sounds so out of this world, that there might just be a sliver of truth to it, no? Unfortunately, our dear readers, this Iron Man suit that you have just read about is as real as Tony Stark himself – both of them do not exist in our reality other than being a figment of our overactive imagination. Imagine how many of such suits would the rich of the world purchase if it were to be true!

Iron Man T-Shirt with Light-up Arc Reactor: Cotton Man

To all the people who keep on asking me for instructions on building a replica of Iron Man’s arc reactor (or Wonder Woman’s invisible jet): a) my offer was clearly a joke, b) for the millionth time, I didn’t make the arc reactor, this guy did and c) you’d be better off buying this T-shirt from ThinkGeek. It’s a black t-shirt with a chest-mounted light that looks like the arc reactor in Iron Man 3.

Unlike Tony Stark’s arc reactor, the one on this t-shirt doesn’t provide power. In fact it needs three AAA batteries for it just to light up. The chest panel is connected to a battery box via a cable, but I don’t know where the battery box is located. I hope it’s not too big that you’ll have to tuck it into your pants pocket or something.

You can order the t-shirt from ThinkGeek for $30 (USD). No instructions or assembly required.

Watch Pepper Potts Finally Suit Up in This Kickass Iron Man 3 Teaser

As May 3 gets closer and closer Marvel is starting to flood the airwaves with 30 second Iron Man 3 commercials, including this spot which reveals something fans have speculated since the first trailer: Pepper Potts gets to don the Iron Man armor. It doesn’t look like Stark has created her her own custom suit—yet—but she looks right at home in his armor. Talk about a power couple. [YouTube via Laughing Squid] More »

Iron Man Even Makes Getting Dressed Look Badass

It doesn’t show anywhere as much as the recent full-length trailer, but this short clip from Iron Man 3 shown at the Kids Choice Awards showing Stark suiting up in his latest generation suit is just as awesome. Seriously, if a superhero can make getting dressed look this badass, imagine what it will be like when he rains down vengeance on the Mandarin for blowing up his home. Can. Not. Wait. Iron Man + TRON = TRON Man

We’re all about superheroes around here today, and why not end the night with something truly awesome? What you’re looking at here is a cool Iron Man helmet design, dressed up with TRON-style electroluminescent lighting.

iron man tron

It was made by Sauer33, and it is truly a sight to behold (at least in the dark). He created the helmet design for an Instructables contest, though I’ve yet to be able to find the full gallery of pics. I’m guessing it’s not yet live on the site. Regardless, if I saw Iron Man flying through the night sky wearing this, I’d definitely feel even more intimidated. Just look at those red eyes. And that strong yellow jawline.

Given Tony Stark’s propensity for the theatrical, there’s no way he would turn down the opportunity to wear one of these helmets. The only thing better would be an entire set of light-up armor. I’m sure Mr. Stark could afford to build one.

Iron Man iPhone Case Has an Arc Reactor, Still Won’t Power Your Smartphone

Love your iPhone 5′s design? Well, then you probably hate how most cases make it look less attractive. Not this case. This Iron Man case makes your iPhone look even better as far as I’m concerned. It’s based on the Mark VII suit and yes that is a glowing, battery-powered arc reactor there in the middle.

As if that wasn’t cool enough, there’s also a little piece of armor that slides aside to reveal the camera lens.

You can pre-order it now and it will be available in April. It’s only $49(USD) from Brando. While it might not protect you from an attack by Whiplash or The Mandarin, it is the cheapest Iron Man suit you can buy.

With This Iron Man Mark VII Case Your iPhone Can Join The Avengers

Leave it to Brando to add one of the most obscene iPhone cases we’ve ever seen to its online catalog. If you love the iPhone 5’s minimalist design, you’re going to hate it. But if you love The Avengers, particularly Iron Man, you’ve just found your next iPhone case. More »
