Over the past few years there has been increased interest in mobile fitness tracking. All sorts of devices and applications have been released, all aiming to make it easier for users to keep an eye on vital information about their bodies. Apple is expected to jump on the bandwagon as well, but recent reports suggest that it might offer almost all of those functions under just one roof, the rumored Healthbook app in iOS 8.

    Apples Plans For Sapphire Will Be For A Secret ProjectWe have been hearing a lot about Apple’s plans for sapphire lately. Rumored plans, to be exact. While Apple has not denied their involvement in GT Advanced Technology’s sapphire plant in Arizona, the exact use of the material is still being speculated on.

    According to the rumors, some claim that the sapphire will be used in Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6 where it will be applied to the display of the phone. Others claim that it will be used in the company’s upcoming iWatch, but in a recent report by The Wall Street Journal, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook was quoted as saying that the Arizona facility was being used for a “secret project” that he couldn’t talk about.     Glucose Monitoring Might Not Make It Onto The iWatchWe have been hearing a lot about Apple’s rumored iWatch and how it will incorporate a bunch of health features into the device. In fact Apple’s recently hiring of biometric experts and sleep experts seems to suggest that the company is interested in incorporating such features into future products, whether or not it is an iWatch or not.

    However another rumor has suggested that the hirings is not so much that Apple wants to jam health features into the device, but to ensure that the measurements and readings are accurate.     GT Advanced Technologies Sapphire Arrangement With Apple Is Progressing WellAs we’re sure most of you guys know by now, Apple has partnered up with GT Advanced Technologies to produce sapphire. We’re not sure what Apple plans to use sapphire for. Some have speculated it could be used for the new iPhone 6 display, while others believe it might be used for the rumored iWatch instead.

    In any case it seems that the partnership between Apple and GT Advanced Technologies seems to be going pretty well, and in the company’s earnings announcement for the fourth quarter of 2013, they noted that it would be a “transformational” year for them, while putting their deal with Apple into perspective.     iWatch Rumored To Feature Flexible Display From TPKWe’re sure that many are wondering what Apple could get up to with its rumored smartwatch, the iWatch as it is tentatively referred to as for now. Last we heard, the rumors have suggested that LG had landed an exclusive deal to provide the displays for the iWatch as well as its battery, but now thanks to a new report from China Times, the publication has suggested that Apple will instead be turning to Taiwan-based touch panel manufacturer, TPK, to deliver flexible displays for the iWatch instead.     Apple Patents Earbuds With Fitness Sensors

    If you look at all the far fetched rumors, going as far back as two years, most will predict that Apple is either launching a full fledged HDTV set or launching a smartwatch in the very near future. Both products haven’t materialized as yet, and aren’t expected to anytime soon. These days though it seems that Apple has its sights on the medical arena. The company is reportedly working on a device that could predict heart attacks, and it has also patented earbuds that have sensors in them for tracking vital fitness related data. This setup could work, given the fact that most people already have earbuds in place whenever they’re working out or on a run.
