HTC One X Jelly Bean Update Goes Global

Waiting is tough. But in the end, it’s all worth it. You already know that HTC started pushing Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates to its One X smarphones in October. But a few of our readers are still saying that they haven’t received the update yet. It’s important to note that the update is going to be gradual. Today, we are hearing a few unlocked HTC One X owners receiving the Jelly Bean update. The update is now making its way to devices having the CIDs 038 and 044 in India, Argentina, U.K., Russia, Dominican Republic, Peru, Brazil, and Sri Lanka. More markets will be receiving the update shortly. If you don’t know how to check the CID of your device. Just go Google Play and search for CID. The Jelly Bean update is expected to be around 364.54MB. Cheers!

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Android 4.1 With Premium Suite

So, we do know that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, at least in select areas around the globe, has already started to receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system update, which will certainly keep owners of the tablet more than happy. Well, there is more than meets the eye as the Transformers would have it, as Samsung has added to the overall feeling of anticipation by revealing how Premium Suite will be part of the operating system update.

I guess apart from all that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is able to deliver, users too, will be able to enjoy extended Multi Window functionality, where it will allow your device to open up to 16 apps simultaneously, and each of these “windows” can be moved, resized and pinned according to your whim and fancy. Not only that, Samsung’s Air View has also been thrown into the Premium Suite mix, which enables users to preview appointments, emails, and video among others simply be hovering the S Pen right above the display.

Other new additions will include Easy Clip, Quick Command, Photo Note, Paper Artist and an enhanced S Note app. No idea on when exactly will Premium Suite and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean roll out, but we sure as heck hope that an early Christmas present would be more than welcome.

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Skips December 2012

Does Google know something about the Mayan prophecy that we do not know of? Perhaps, or it could very well be an oversight or a deliberate and cheeky prank – it seems that the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system update has decided to skip Christmas. Yes sir, the Daily Social reported that December has been omitted from the People app, while it remains on the calendar app and other features. The People app, as it is, remains at the center of the mobile operating system’s social experience, so if you were to take it into context, the birthdays of birthdays as well as Christmas events will not show up on folks running the latest update.

Good to know that this will not be too large a problem, since Android 4.2 Jelly Bean has just hit a bunch of Nexus devices to date, so you can be sure that the adoption rate is far from high, and only a small percentage of Android users will be miffed that Christmas is computationally missing from their respective smartphones. Hopefully Google will release a software fix – within this month, obviously.

Nexus S And Iconia Tab A500 Get Android 4.2 Ports

While we know that the Google Nexus S will stop at Android 4.1.2, here we are, marveling at the resilience of the human spirit as independent developers have begun work to port over Android 4.2 Jelly Bean to the Nexus S, never mind what official sources say or think. This happened shortly after Google made available the source code of Android 4.2 to the masses, and the Nexus S is not the only beneficiary from such an effort as the Acer Iconia Tab A500, an aging tablet, will also be on the receiving end of such generosity and passion by the developer community.

According to developer RandomBlame, the open source version of Android 4.2 has been ported over to run on the Iconia Tab A500. Just in case RandomBlame sounds familiar to you, that is because he is the very same developer who ported Android 4.1 to the Iconia Tab A500 tablet earlier this year as well. Right now, the port is not fully functional, as audio, Bluetooth, the camera, and the internal SD memory card remains as dead as a doornail.

Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 Get Android Update Before Availability

Google new Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 are going to be available for order tomorrow on Google Play, and if you haven’t done so yet, you may want to read our full review of the devices by following the previous links.

Now, there were a couple of features in this Android 4.2 (still Jelly Bean) update that were not ready yet at review time, one of which was the screen lock widget (keep in mind that 3rd party can develop lock screen widgets), and the other was the multi-user support for the Google Nexus 10 tablet.

As of tomorrow, Google will have a complete line up that spans from a 4.7″ smartphone, a 7″ quad-core tablet (read our Nexus 7 review) and a powerful next-generation dual-core 10″ tablet with a amazing display. The most attractive part is the pricing: $299+ for the no-contract Nexus 4, $199+ for the Nexus 7 tablet and $399+ for the Nexus 10 tablet. Everyone interested in getting something in these categories should at least check them out: the value is simply phenomenal.

Droid RAZR M Getting OTA Update to Android Jelly Bean 4.1

Here’s good news if you’re a Droid RAZR M owner: you’re about to get a nicer phone, courtesy of an update to Android 4.1. Motorola announced it this morning via Twitter, and Verizon confirmed with a support document, so it’s definitely happening, although Moto says it will distribute the update to users “in phases.”

It certainly seems since Motorola got swallowed up by Google that the updates are coming faster, but there are several handsets still lagging behind Google’s latest and greatest.

Android 4.2 Google Apps ready for Galaxy Nexus action

While we have yet to see the official update of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean for other older smartphones, especially those in the Galaxy range from Google (as these tend to be at the forefront of new Android updates before other devices from different manufacturers), we have already seen the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean keyboard extracted, followed by the Photo Sphere’s turn. Well, for those who do not have patience listed at the top of their list of virtues, you might be pleased to hear that core applications from Android 4.2 Jelly Bean has been leaked out for folks who are still rocking with their Galaxy Nexus smartphones.

The package of Google Apps (GApps for short) will comprise of Google’s very own set of applications from Android 4.2, where among them include Gmail, Calendar, Maps, and Talk among the others. Not only that, there is another bonus of sorts in tow – you are able to download Google Wallet too if you want to have it on your Galaxy Nexus. For those who have already performed the installation process, just how do you find it?

Samsung Galaxy Note N7000XXLS2 Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean leaked

So you own the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000, and cannot wait to enjoy Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. Well, we have some good news for you – it seems that N7000XXLS2 Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean for the Galaxy Note GT-N7000 has just leaked, but bear in mind that this does not seem to be the finalized version considering how it does not come with Multi-View built-in. This is so as this particular build remains in a testing phase, and it is whispered that Samsung is currently testing out N7000XXLS3 which indeed, will come with Multi-View.

Perhaps Samsung might just skip the Android 4.1.1 release even though they are testing it right now, as there is the possibility of updating your Galaxy Note GT-N7000 to Android 4.1.2 prior to introducing Jelly Bean for the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy S2. Insider information seem to point towards Android 4.1.2 on its way for the Galaxy S3, with whispers that Android 4.2 updates are in the pipeline for a Q1 2013 release.

Verizon Galaxy S3 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update leaked

We all know that the Google Nexus 4 smartphone which was manufactured by LG will more or less be the first smartphone to ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on board, but what about the rest of the smartphones in the market? Sure, the LTE version of the Galaxy S3 recently received its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, and here we are with whispers that Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S3, too, is on the verge of receiving the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, considering how a Jelly Bean beta ROM has already been leaked out onto the Internet, sporting a build date that shows off October 8th as the fateful day.

No idea on how long will it take before an official introduction happens, but if you are curious and are willing to risk your smartphone turning into some sort of NFC-enabled brick, then you might want to download this unofficial ROM and give it a go. For folks who decided to take the more adventurous path, just how did you find the installation process, and is everything running just fine now?

Ouya console ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

One good thing about a device being slow to hit the market is this – they will be a whole lot more advanced in terms of specifications (or at least some) compared to the original shipping date, not to mention giving the team behind said device to sharpen up and optimize the software. The Ouya console is one of them, where this $99 video game console has just announced that instead of including Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the operating system of choice, it will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean right out of the box.

Apart from that, Ouya also shared that the first printed circuit boards have already arrived, and the entire team will be able to ship out the Software Developer Kit for game-makers and developers sometime in December. Definitely a Christmas worth looking forward to, don’t you think so? We do hope that the $8 million plus of funds that were raised throughout a Kickstarter campaign that happened earlier this year will be put to good use, and the NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor powered console which is tipped for an early 2013 will hopefully be able to perform as intended – and perhaps, even exceed the expectations of the masses.
