ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 receives Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update

If you so happen to be a proud owner of the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300, then here is a wee bit of good news for you. This particular tablet has just received the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, and we are referring to the LTE-enabled version. After all, it was a couple of months ago in August when ASUS introduced the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the non-LTE version of the Transformer Pad 300, so better late than never with the TF300, right? Performing the update is a snap, all you need to do is to download the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300TL firmware (version 10.4.3.6) followed by flashing your tablet with the latest ROM. Once done, you are able to sit back and enjoy the increased speed which accompanies the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update.

This particular operating system update would be able to give the Transformer Pad 300 a new lease of life, considering the tablet market is highly competitive at this point in time, not to mention Apple rumored to take a stab at the smaller display tablet range with their upcoming 7.85” iPad mini.

Android 4.2 tested on Xperia arc S?

All right, we do know that eventually, Google is going to roll out the Android 4.2 operating system update, and whether that will continue with the Jelly Bean moniker or not remains to be seen. What we do know is, the update should not be too far in the offing, especially when someone has allegedly claimed that the Xperia arc S from Sony Mobile has already been testing out a copy of Android 4.2.

Android Authority claims that “in our logs it’s the Xperia Arc S that showed up the most. In fact it was more frequent than the Nexus 7 or the Galaxy Nexus.” Of course, there is always the possibility that this might be a beta of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean which is being tested by Sony Mobile, and it was given the slip as such data could easily be manipulated. All in all, it is still very much up in the air, so we will just have to adopt a wait and see attitude.

Well, there has been no word on just when the Android 4.2 release will happen nor what will it entail, but at the very least, we do know that Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is well on its way – arriving first on the Asus-manufactured Google Nexus 7 tablet, as well as on the AOSP (Android Open Source Project). Google’s chief release engineer Jean-Baptiste Queru made this announcement concerning the new Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update, where it will come with a tiny number of bugfixes as well as a couple of new features to boot.

One of the most glaring new feature for Nexus 7 owners would be to allow them to use the stock launcher in landscape mode, while most of the other fixes are behind the scenes – which have been touted to improve “performance and stability and fixes bugs.” A tiny bit of code was dedicated for compatibility for a different power management chip found in newer Nexus 7 units that hit the market.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update hits South Korea

It goes without saying that the Samsung Galaxy S3 would receive the long awaited Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update in their home country, South Korea, before anywhere else. After all, a promise is a promise, and Samsung has lived out that promise. Bear in mind that the official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3 is right now limited to just the SHW-M440S variant, meaning any other handsets of the same model name that are not native to South Korea will not be compatible with this Jelly Bean release.

We rely on Google’s Translation engine to do the hard work for us, so if anything in terms of the Jelly Bean update’s features are lost in translation, point the gun to Google. It looks like the standard usability improvements have been introduced to the home screen, not to mention the ability to pause movies whenever you are recording, in addition to having the camera perform a smart rotation when in use. At this point in time, it does look likely that you will have to install this update via Samsung KIES, but an Over The Air (OTA) installation does seem possible, too. Does this mean that the international versions of the Galaxy S3 will soon be grateful recipients of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update as well? [Translated Page]

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean leaked for HTC One X Tegra 3 variants

Jelly BeanFor those who might be a little bit confused when it comes to the HTC One X, here is the skinny on it – the international version of this particular smartphone will be accompanied by a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, but one thing that is sorely missing from it would be the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system update. However, all of that is going to change in the future as courtesy of the HTC One X+’s recent release which is said to roll out with Android 4.1.1 on board, the folks over at XDA have managed to churn out custom ROMs that are made available for the different variants of the Tegra 3 HTC One X with Android 4.1 at the forefront.

Folks who have performed the update on their respective HTC One X have sung nothing but praises for the device, claiming that it has made the smartphone “blazing fast”, while offering a speedier app launcher as well as smoother home screen transitions. Just be careful with such unsanctioned, unofficial updates if you are not quite sure what to do, as you might end up bricking your device.

If you happen to be a proud owner of the Samsung Galaxy S3 while rocking to Sprint’s network, then here is news for you – it seems that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM for this particular smartphone has leaked, so it might not be too long of a wait after that for the real deal to arrive. The latest Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean ROM for Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S3 appeared on the XDA Developer’s forum, where it will include Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz skin as part of the deal. There were reports from a handful of XDA members that apps end up crashing, while there are also niggling issues concerning the gyroscope to boot.

Of course, if you were to install this unofficial ROM on your Galaxy S3, bear in mind that the warranty on your device would be declared to be null and void, and if the entire handset bricks, then tough luck.

Asus Transformer Pad Prime (TF201) receives Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, Transformer Pad Infinity update delayed

Yesterday, we talked about how the Asus Transformer Pad Prime and Transformer Pad Infinity devices were in line for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update within the next 72 hours. One thing’s for sure though, Transformer Pad Prime (also known as model TF201) owners have already started to receive their Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, while leaving Asus Transformer Pad Infinity owners in the dark. Asus did mention on their website that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Transformer Pad Infinity has been delayed, and there has been no further information on the release date just yet. I guess there would be still at least 48 hours left in the time window left, so being patient would be the best course of action at this point in time for Transformer Pad Infinity owners. Asus teases Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for Transformer Prime and Infinity

When it comes to the Android operating system, many people do talk about the issue of fragmentation. While it is not that serious, it is still a problem that should be addressed by Google as well as the slew of hardware manufacturers who release products that run on Android. Well, Asus has their fair share of Android-powered devices, where they have just teased the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to arrive on the Transformer Prime as well as Infinity in a matter of 3 days.

That would translate to approximately 72 hours of patient waiting, so owners of the Transformer Pad Prime TF201 (otherwise known as the Eee Pad Transformer Prime) and the Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 might want to grab some popcorn and enjoy the waiting period. All good things come to those who wait, after all, so if you have waited this long, what is a few more hours between good friends, right? Better late than never should be taken as a consolation this time around. [Facebook Page]

Asus Transformer Prime Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update rolls out in Sweden

If you happen to live in Sweden and own the Asus Transformer Prime tablet, then you might be pleased to hear that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for this tablet has started to roll out, which could very well signal that the floodgates to a global introduction to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is also well on its way. A post on Asus Sweden’s Facebook page claims that the update is now ready and waiting for Transformer Prime owners in Sweden to take advantage of the availability, but for some personal reasons that you want to remain on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform, feel free to ignore the availability of Jelly Bean.

Needless to say, you would do well to perform a backup of all your data on the Transformer Prime while making sure that the tablet itself has its battery fully charged before running the update. After all, you are unable to tell just when Murphy might strike upon installing the update, do you? Asus seems to be one of the more diligent hardware manufacturers of Android-powered devices when it comes to regular and speedy Android operating system updates, and we hope that they continue to keep up the good work.
