Sprint LG Optimus G Receives Jelly Bean Update

Sprint LG Optimus G Receives Jelly Bean UpdateLooks like the weather report for today should read something like this, “We expect clouds and thunderstorms, with plenty of Jelly Beans dropping from the sky.” How come? Well, earlier today we brought you word that not only did the HTC One X over at AT&T pick up the long awaited Jelly Bean update, so too, has Motorola declared that their Droid RAZR as well as Droid RAZR MAXX, will be on the receiving end of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. Fast forward to now, and we have word that Sprint’s LG Optimus G too, will finally be getting the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update.

Considering the latest version of Android has been Android 4.2 (still under the Jelly Bean moniker, of course), it is nice to see Sprint doing their bit to get things up to speed to a certain extent. This particular Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update comes across as an Over The Air (OTA) download, so what are you waiting for?

Micromax A110 Canvas 2 Gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update

Micromax A110 Canvas 2 Gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean UpdateIt does not mean if you are a big time hardware manufacturer for Android-powered tablets and smartphones, you would automatically be able to deliver the latest operating system updates always whenever a new one is released. Case in point, the Micromax A110 Canvas 2 has just been announced to get the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. Yes sir, who would have heard of the Micromax A110 Canvas 2 before? The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean rollout is tipped to happen sometime from next week onwards, but it will not be made available Over The Air (OTA) which is a bummer.

If you happen to own the Micromax A110 Canvas 2, you will need to call the nearest Micromax service center, make sure the service center has received the relevant firmware before you physically head for the service center to get your Micromax A110 Canvas 2 flashed with the latest Jelly Bean. Not exactly the most ideal of situations, which could be why Micromax is not such a hot name in the first place when it comes to Android-powered smartphones, eh?

Sony Xperia J Gets Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update

Sony Xperia J Gets Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean UpdateIs it me, or is it raining Jelly Bean? First, we have word that the Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX has received the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, followed by news of the HTC One X from AT&T also being on the receiving end of sweet, sweet Jelly Bean, and last but not least, the Sony Xperia J will soon waltz away with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice. Having said that, this would make it the latest handset from Sony Mobile to receive this Android version, taking after the Xperia V, Xperia T, and Xperia TL.

At last, Sony Mobile seems to be a whole lot more sensitive to their customers, having rolled out more recent Android versions to their growing repertoire of smartphones, but do bear in mind that Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is right now the latest version and has been around for quite a number of months already. This Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update will be made available in stages, so if your Xperia J has yet to show that it is receiving this update, it would be prudent to play it wise, or you can always try to perform a manual update yourself.

Archos G9 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Updated Canceled

Archos G9 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Updated CanceledNow here is one bit of news that is not going to make you smile all over, especially if you happen to own the Archos G9 series of tablets. There is one very good reason for that, considering how folks who picked up the Archos G9 range of tablets have been waiting since 2011 for the latest version of the Android operating system, but it seems that these will remain running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for a long, long time to come, considering how Archos has decided to hold back the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update from the Archos G9 series.

A quick recap for those who are wondering what kind of tablets that the Archos G9 series were. First of all, you will find a TI OMAP 4 processor underneath the hood, with full compatibility with the Google Play Store, and Android 3.0 Honeycomb right out of the box, although the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update was introduced later on. It seems that this in-house decision was arrived despite spending a fair number of months analyzing and testing Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on the Archos G9 tablets, but without much success.

Motorola Droid RAZR And RAZR MAXX To Receive Jelly Bean

Motorola Droid RAZR And RAZR MAXX To Receive Jelly BeanThe first two Motorola Droid RAZR handsets from Verizon will soon be on the receiving end of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system update, and they are the RAZR XT912 that rolled out all the way back in November 2011, and the RAZR MAXX that was introduced to the world in January last year. Motorola claims that both the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX will be receiving the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update officially sometime before the first quarter of 2013 is over, which means owners of either device do not have too long more to wait, one month plus tops.

Do bear in mind that technologically speaking, both the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX are old men, and have retired from the scene as you can no longer purchase either from Verizon via online channels, as you can only settle for the new RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD. Having said that, some of the other older Motorola devices which might receive Android 4.1 Jelly Bean include the Droid Bionic, Droid 4, and the Xoom LTE tablet.
