Android 4.2 Changelog Updated

Android 4.2 Changelog UpdatedGoogle has just introduced some updates to the Android 4.2 changelog, where it has taken note of the entire slew of new features that are found in the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. For those of you who have had experienced failing eyesight due to the scourge of aging and time, the magnifier in Android 4.2, when enabled, allows the user to triple tap on the screen to experience full screen magnification. Apart from that, the power menu allows you to enable “TalkBack,” an Android screenreader, where it will also be accompanied by a new camera app and High Dynamic Range Mode (HDR) that widens the exposure range so that you can shoot photos in greater detail than ever before.

How about the inclusion of full HDMI mirroring that offers support for notifications and multi-display? Yup, that is part of the deal as well. The next key update for the Android operating system should debut this coming May at Google I/O, and it will most probably be called Key Lime Pie for its nickname, running on the upcoming Motorola X handset.

Samsung Galaxy Note Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update Arrives

Samsung Galaxy Note Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update ArrivesFolks who own the Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) will be pleased to hear that the long awaited Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update has finally arrived and ready for your download. The rollout is said to be gradual, meaning it will happen in stages, but so far initial reports from users worldwide do seem to point towards a generally favorable reception. What does this latest Android update bring to the tablet? Pardon the pun there.

For starters, the operating system will be bumped all the way to version 4.1.2. Yes, I know, it is not exactly cutting edge since it would miss out on Android 4.2 as with other more recent devices, but at least this means you will be able to enjoy some Project Butter goodness, in addition to other stuff such as Google Now, a new customizable notification area, Multi-View, new gallery, Pop-up Play, Smart Rotation, Page Buddy, continuous keyboard input, and Samsung Cloud services, among others. If you have yet to receive the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update on your Galaxy Note, patience is the keyword here. Nice to see Samsung roll it out earlier than expected.

Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100G) Owners In Canada Get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT I9100G) Owners In Canada Get Android 4.1 Jelly BeanIf you happen to live in the Great White North, you would have read about how the Galaxy Note 2 has received the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update already recently, and owners of the Galaxy S2 can now rejoice, as their handset, too, will be on the receiving end of this highly anticipated update, at least according to the good people over at SamMobile. Apparently, there were some reports trickling in that their Android 4.0.x Ice Cream Sandwich-powered Galaxy S2 models were making the leap to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, although it will not be the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean that recently rolled out for the GSM models of the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10.

With this Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update, do expect to see your fair share of user interface enhancements in addition to stability improvements alongside a bunch of other new features such as Google Now and Project Butter. Not only that, a spanking new Notification bar is thrown into the mix with additional notification toggles. If you have already updated your Galaxy S2 and given it a new lease of life, how do you find the update so far?

Android 4.2.2 Update Arrives For Nexus 4 Owners

Android 4.2.2 Update Arrives For Nexus 4 OwnersIf you happen to own the LG Nexus 4, surely you would be looking out in anticipation on receiving the new Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system update? Well, we are pleased to report that the wait is now over, as the Nexus 4 will receive build JDQ39 of Android 4.2.2 which also appeared on other Nexus devices earlier this week, such as the Galaxy Nexus, the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10. The entire Android 4.2.2 update will weigh in at around 54MB, so make sure your handset has a full battery charge, or at least enough to be able to handle a rather lengthy download.

For those who do not feel like they want to wait, you have the choice of downloading the OTA (Over The Air) package straight from Google, and perform the installation process manually over a custom recovery or by sideloading. For those who have already applied the Android 4.2.2 update, just how do you find it so far, and have you run into any potential issues to warn the rest?

LG Optimus 4X HD, Optimus L7 And L9 To Get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

LG Optimus 4X HD, Optimus L7 And L9 To Get Android 4.1 Jelly BeanIf you are always on the lookout for news of your Android-powered smartphone receiving the latest version of the Android operating system, then it is time for folks who rock on to the LG Optimus 4X HD, LG Optimus L9 and LG Optimus L7 to perform a little jig upon hearing this news. It seems that the awaited Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update will be making its way to those devices sometime in the first half of this year, based on a roughly translated Chinese page.

It is rather unfortunate that no further information on the situation has been shared, and LG has had a rather poor track record when it comes to updating their smartphones to the latest version of the Android operating system. Still, the adage of “better late than never” holds true here, and if you are one who likes to view the glass as half full, why not see it as better this year than in 2014, when most probably Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie would have been announced for half a year already by then at the very minimum?

Galaxy S2 In Korea Gets Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update

Galaxy S2 In Korea Gets Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update Hmmm, first our friends living in the Great White North received the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for their Galaxy Note 2, and here we are with word that the very same update will be hitting the Korean version of the Galaxy S2, also known as SHW-M250K if model numbers are your cup of tea.

For starters, here is a little bit of history for those who are interested. The Galaxy S2 holds the record of being the best-selling Android-powered device in the year 2011, and needless to say, it has its fair share of users who have yet to make the upgrade to a newer handset (which Samsung would naturally hope they make the jump to the Galaxy S3), which is why Samsung has continued to offer updates for the Galaxy S2 with each new Android iteration so that Galaxy S2 owners will be on the receiving end of the best support experience.

It is said that you are able to update your Galaxy S2 (SHW-M250K) via Samsung KIES, but do ensure that your handset has a full charge before doing so, as the entire update does seem to be rather large in size. After all, it is always better to err on the side of caution.

Twitter Search Function Rummages Through Historic Tweets Now

Twitter Search Function Rummages Through Historic Tweets NowThe Twitter blog saw the pen, or rather, keyboard (virtual or otherwise) of Twitter search infrastructure engineer Paul Burstein explain Twitter’s intention to assist users in getting “the best content” for their queries. Paul said, “Yesterday, we updated our Android, iOS and mobile web apps to make it easier for you to find relevant content when you’re on the go. We also started to roll out an additional update: you’ll now be able to find older tweets using search. Previously, Twitter search results displayed tweets going back about a week. We’ve developed a way to include older tweets.”

Hmmm, search has always been one important aspect when using a computer, whether you are looking for files on your local drive(s), or narrowing down on information on the Internet. It is then interesting to note that social networks, too, have jumped aboard this bandwagon, and would be more than welcome considering how the number of posts made every day on Twitter is increasing constantly.

Jelly Bean Picks Up The Pace In Market Share

Jelly Bean Picks Up The Pace In Market ShareFor folks who love statistics as it helps them draw up different conclusions, here are the latest bits of information from Google where distribution statistics of the Android mobile operating system is concerned. It seems that 13.6% of Android devices are running on the Jelly Bean platform, with 12.2% of those using Android 4.1 while a mere 1.4% have Android 4.2 up and running, which makes perfect sense actually, since not many devices have received the Android 4.2 update in the first place. Just to recap, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean delivers new technology such as Project Butter for a smoother user experience, in addition to Google Now that pushes useful information to users in a timely manner.

Most of the Android users still run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, numbering at a whopping 45.6%. If you were to break down that figure further, 45.4% of them are using Gingerbread 2.3.3 to 2.3.7, and Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich saw an extremely small retreat to 29% from 29.1% last month. Perhaps this is an indication that the Jelly Bean revolution is about to begin in full swing. Which version of Android are you lumped under?
