Of all the characters in the original Star Wars trilogy, the Ewoks were my favorites. At the time, I didn’t realize how much they looked like dogs that walked around on their hind legs. if you need any more proof that the Ewok race is descendant from the mighty and fluffy Shih-tzu dog breed, here it is.

Somewhere in a city far, far away a geek has poked the head of his or her cute little shih-tzu through the side of a cardboard box with the body of an Ewok drawn on it. Epic dog photo taking ensued.

It’s almost worth buying a shih-tzu just so I can recreate this photo. It just wouldn’t be the same with my daughter’s Chihuahua poking her boney little head through the box. I sincerely hope this dog’s name is Wicket.

Not all cosplay has to be complicated or difficult to wear. Case in point, this awesome replica of one of the beach shirts worn by Dragon Ball‘s resident pervert Master Roshi. Now all you need is a pair of red-framed sunglasses, a bald head, a white beard and a turtle shell. Not complicated at all.

10 years ago, pop artist Brandon Bird found an X-Men coloring & activity book filled with awful sketches at a dollar store. Brandon eventually decided to turn it into a collaborative work with his fellow artist friends. But instead of simply coloring its pages, they each picked a sketch in the book and made original art based on it.

Brandon presented the artworks under the appropriate name X-Mans earlier this month at the Nucleus gallery in L.A. Here are some of the pieces:

As you can see, most of the pieces are lighthearted – Nate Carle’s Fourclops looks like it actually came from the sketchbook – but a couple of them made the best out of the source material, such as Amy Dixon’s Grey’s Anatomy and Erin Pearce’s Magneto Hates Birthdays.  Have your browser wear Cerebro and head to Brandon’s website to see all of X-Mans. Brandon is also selling prints of some of the pieces on his online shop.

Frozen has turned out to be one of the most popular movies Disney has put out in a long time. The films racked up big bucks, and the toys that go along with it have sold well. Over on the LEGO Cuusoo site someone has posted a blocky version of Elsa’s ice palace complete with minifigs and guardian snowman.

Designed by Fohzen L, the entire castle is modeled in blue parts that are translucent and it looks great. With the popularity of this film, I would think it could easily rack up the votes needed to become a reality pretty easily. Whether or not LEGO can get the licensing done to make it real is another story.

It would be great to see more LEGO sets aimed at girls. My daughter plays with “boy” themed LEGO sets all the time and thinks the LEGO Friends sets aimed at girls are “lame” so it would be great to see some other gear that is a bit more girly yet still cool from LEGO.
