LEGO The Last of Us Would be an Awesome Game

If you are a fan of LEGO, video games, and zombies you will enjoy this video. The video was made by Brian Anderson, and it is awesome. It looks like professional grade animation done for a LEGO themed game.

lego last of us 620x390magnify

As the disclaimer at the start of the video says, the footage isn’t from any actual game, but if they made it I would totally play it. The game is loaded with themes from the popular game The Last of Us, with LEGO minifigs building the weapons they need to kill the tumor-laden bad guys.

As they beat them, the baddies give up LEGO coins. After all the bad guys are dead, the hero and his sidekick bust through the door only to reveal they’re not alone in the zombie apocalypse. Check out the video for yourself, it’s very cool.

While you’re at it, be sure to check out Brian’s LEGO Breaking Bad and LEGO The Dark Knight.

Wrap Up Your BurriTOT in This Tortilla Swaddle Blanket

Raising a kid is a huge responsibility (and from what I’ve seen my sister go through so far, it’s also the cause of many pains and frustrations.) But the fun thing about babies is that you can dress them up in whatever clothes you want, and they don’t have any say because, well, they don’t really care.

This isn’t exactly an article of clothing. It’s actually a swaddle blanket and it’s designed to turn your baby into a burriTOT! (Sorry, couldn’t resist!) The blanket itself looks like a gigantic tortilla, and your baby is the filling.

Don’t be surprised when people’s heads turn your way when your baby’s wrapped in this and you happen to be out and about, because it’ll probably look like you’re embracing a gigantic burrito.

The Tortilla Baby Swaddle Blanket is available online for $48(USD). Sour cream and guacamole not included.

Cat Has TIE Fighter Markings: The Empire Claws Back

This cat must be part of the Imperial fleet and he doesn’t even try to hide it. Either that or he is an a never ending war with that TIE Fighter on his fur. Maybe the Empire sends him out to act as a decoy to fool other animals and distract them.

This cat is owned by Ella McConnell, who must make spaceship and laser noises every time it walks by. I know I would. This cat needs to watch out for X-wing cats if he wants to avoid a fight. Maybe he could just face the other way and let it pass.

This is just more proof that God loves Star Wars. Not the prequels though. That is the devil’s work.

Trekkie Decorates Entire House in Star Trek Theme: Home, The Final Frontier

I’ve seen some really cool Star Trek themed gear and even rooms over the years. If you are a fan of the original series, you might appreciate the décor in the home of Line Rainville. She has been a fan of the original Star Trek series since her youth.

When she grew up and got her own house, she went about decorating it in a Star Trek theme. The project started as a Trek themed home theater in the basement and grew from there. The house now has parts of Spock’s room, the bridge, and even a transporter platform. Some items in the home are purchased props, while others were created from scratch.

I’ll say much of the décor looks like 60′s and 70′s resale furniture to me, then again I am not a fan of the original series. I am definitely more Picard than Kirk. Regardless, the overall effect will make some Star Trek fans jealous for sure. The entire project cost her about $30,000 to accomplish and over a year of work.

Are you looking to geek up your barware? These Star Trek Enterprise glasses are classy and elegant, whether you are serving Romulan ale, Saurian brandy, scotch, beer or soda. They actually look like set pieces that might have appeared in the original Trek movies.

These will look great in your mess hall. Just keep your ship’s engineer away from them. He may be a miracle worker, but you don’t need him drinking too much scotch and blowing up your ship. These glasses are only $29.99(USD) from ThinkGeek.

Natural Pokémon Collage: Leaf-type Art

We’ve seen Pokémon drawn with pencils, food, thread, aluminum powder, sculpey, clay, marble, LEGO and digital inkJacob Carter chose a simple but challenging way to depict the famous monsters: leaves.

Jacob calls his series Natural Pokémon. Aside from leaves, he also uses pebbles, and cheats a bit with cardboard and ink for the eyes and feet of Pokémon.

Jacob probably won’t be able to depict all Pokémon using just the leaves he finds on his own. Maybe he can ask people to send him preserved leaves of different colors and textures.

Life-size DIY Stargate Generates No Event Horizon, Still Awesome

Stargate is a big deal in my house. My wife and I have been married for nearly 17 years now and our first date was to see Stargate when it hit theaters. After we were married, the first time we agreed to splurge on cable was when the Stargate SG-1 series was on Showtime. We moved to satellite solely to be able to watch the show and its spinoffs when they moved to Syfy. We really like the movie and series.

Some DIY geeks who like the franchise as much as we do have begun construction on a life-size replica of the Stargate. PodPadStudios’ replica is being made from MDF and wood studs. The guys behind the build say that when its done it will be complete with lighting effects.

About the only thing it won’t have it its own event horizon. The coolest part about this is if you want to build your own, they’ve been documenting all of the construction steps over on Instructables.

Their goal is to complete the build by April 2014. We look forward to seeing pics of the finished build.

FaceRig Turns You into a Digital Avatar in Real Time: Self-e

Here’s a program that could be one of the big hits of 2014. Currently in development by Holotech Studios, FaceRig lets anyone with a webcam project their head movements and facial expressions onto a virtual character, all in real time. It’s Dance Central for your face.

facerig 620x310magnify

According to Holotech Studios, FaceRig is based on “real time image based tracking technology” made by Swedish company Visage Technologies. Aside from tracking and mapping your head and face, voice alteration will also be included in FaceRig. So you can become a voice actor, a motion capture actor and an animator all at once.

So what can you do with the FaceRig? For starters you can stream a show online using your avatar as your visage. You can be the next Hatsune Miku! Or rather, Half-sune Miku. You can make a simple animated film without spending a single second or cent in 3D modeling software. Or you can just make funny faces all day.

Holotech Studios plans to release several versions of FaceRig for different devices and use cases, such as a full featured desktop program for professional use and a mobile app for funny face use. For now a pledge of at least $5 (USD) on Indiegogo will be enough to score you both a beta and a full license to the basic version of FaceRig.

2013′s Most Memorable Moments Immortalized in Play-Doh

What were some of the best moments for you in 2013?

For some, it was the N’Sync reunion at the VMAs and the invention of cronuts, which gained traction so fast and quickly became one of the most popular snack-slash-breakfast foods, with people lining up for hours to get a bite of one.

Then there was Ylvis’s crazy popular hit single, The Fox, that came with an equally fun and crazy video to boot. Some of the year’s biggest moments (most of which went viral) are immortalized in clay by Play-Doh for everyone’s amusement. Check out the gallery below for Play-Doh’s 2013 Year in Review.

Just don’t try eating the Play-Doh cronut. It’s not nearly as tasty as the real thing.

Great Scott: Back to the Future with a Marshmallow

This will be the best video that you see all day. It was made by Bodega Studios, a production company based out of New York and San Francisco. It is called Back to the Holidays and instead of starring Michael J. Fox, it stars a marshmallow.

I assume that you’ve unmuted the video below by now, but if not, what are you waiting for? It’s not everyday that you see a marshmallow driving a DeLorean.

This is the most amusing stop motion movie I have seen since… Sorry. Just got distracted by like a million other Vines. So where was I? Oh yeah, this is basically the coolest Vine you will see all day, maybe even all week. Or all year, since the year is almost over.
