Despicable Bricks: Teen Builds 24,000 Brick LEGO Minion

You might remember Evan Bacon from such LEGO masterpieces as his Superman, Batman and Iron Man. Now he has set his sights on the Minions from the Despicable Me movies.
lego minion 3 Evan made this awesome model all by himself. No help from Minions here. All together it has about 24,000 bricks and weighs about 120 pounds. It was built live at the Rooster Teeth convention in Austin, TX and is a tribute to Despicable Me 2.

I’ll tell you what’s not despicable. This guy’s talent. Now that he has a Minion, who knows what he can accomplish. OneMminion always leads to another. And another. And another. Soon Evan will be building armies of cool LEGO creations with their help.

Pizza Slice Friendship Necklace: For People With More Than One Friend

We “social masters” are tired of being discriminated against.  Why all of these “one friend, two piece” necklaces?  I could never give one of my minions special treatment, because then my other minions would feel sad.  I value my worthless social minions, and am excited to hear that I can now include them all!  Thanks, Pizza Slice Friendship Necklace!

pizza bff necklaces 1

How to use the Pizza Slice Friendship Necklace:

First, you will need to get eight friends.  This can be done relatively easily, as long as you’re not an awkward turtle and can carry a conversation.  If you get sweaty pits and pass out at the thought of talking to others, then a silent gesture will be enough.  (Bring $20′s, just in case you happen to look extra weird that day.)

Next, you will need to purchase the beautiful piece(s) of jewelry shown above.

The only thing left for you to do, after having purchased the Pizza Slice Friendship Necklaces, is to force your eight friends to wear them.  If you need to accidentally on purpose make your friends go temporarily unconscious, then do what you have to do.  And if you get caught, I was telling you the whole time that it is entirely illegal and immoral to ask unconscious people to befriend you.  Only befriend conscious people – they are less likely to have diseases and will stay friends with you for a longer period of time.

If you followed all of the above steps exactly as they were written, one of your friends should be attractive as the friend shown below: (complete with the out-of-place seductive expression):

Remember to remind friends that these necklaces are not for eating.  These necklaces are for wearing.  If you do have a group “necklace-eating party,” just make sure that everyone keeps the chain on so that you can pull the pizza slice back out in case of an emergency.  (Hint: swallowing a metal slice of pizza is almost always an immediate medical emergency.)

You can pick up one of these Pizza Slice Necklaces for £14 (~$19 USD) over at the Lazy Oaf online store. Lazy oaf.

N64 Controller Pillow: Zzzz Trigger

Artist/Nintendo fan/Sleep gamer Donna Marie Evans made her own Nintendo 64 controller pillow. It’s made of polar fleece and cotton and has embroidered letters and buttons. Now Donna can do a barrel roll in her sleep.

‘Hey Girl’ Puts Ryan Gosling on Every Website

Is your feed full of stupid memes you don’t care for and pictures of your friends’/relatives’/acquaintances’ babies? Are you sick of looking at selfies and random people making that annoying duck face on your Facebook feed?

If the images on your screen are getting too much to take, then you might want to install the Hey Girl app in your browser.

hey girl ryan gosling

Hey Girl automatically swaps out all of the photos on a website with images of Ryan Gosling. There’s some of him acting goofy, there’s a couple of screenshots from movies, and there’s one where he’s canoodling with a girl (don’t you wish that were you?)

Hey Girl

The app was developed by Katherine Champagne when she was at Dev Bootcamp Chicago. At the start, the app involved using Channing Tatum but Katherine eventually switched to Ryan Gosling.

Katherine explains: “I hope that heygirl.io inspires more women to get into web development- there needs to be more of us, ladies! It’s not all math, it’s not boring – as I hope heygirl.io evidences, I’ve found programming to be an incredible creative outlet.”

You can install the Hey Girl bookmarklet or Chrome Extension here.

Pinwheel Interface Wants You to Blow It

I’ve seen some unusual user interfaces and input devices over the years, but one that I’ve never thought of before now is a pinwheel. Sure, there are games on the Nintendo handhelds which require that you blow on its microphone to create virtual wind, but this is definitely much a more tangible interface.

pinwheel interface

This pinwheel-based interface was designed by Adi Marom and the LAB at Rockwell Group as a mechanism for users to control videos of convertible Ultrabooks in Intel’s booth at CES 2013. A user simply blows onto the pinwheel, and it moves the frames in the video accordingly. The harder you blow, the faster the video advances. Here, check it out:

Pretty neat, eh? Sure, I can’t think of too many applications for a pinwheel interface, but it’s still kind of fun to watch.

What If Disney’s Princesses Used Instagram?

Imagine a world where Disney’s most-beloved princesses actually existed; a world where they would have access to the Internet and maintained a presence of various social media networks. Like Instagram, for example.

That’s one thing the folks from B for Bel were musing about, which prompted them to come up with this fun gallery of Instagram posts from the Disney princesses.

From home-cooked food to gowns and gowns to selfies and photos of palaces, this gallery has it all. These images are essentially grabbed from the movies these princesses starred in, but the captions make all the difference. Check out the full series in the gallery below.

Konami Code Tattoo: I Guess He Has 30 Arms Now

Fashionably Geek reader Kevin Pacheco had Konami’s transcendent cheat code tattooed on his arm.

Apparently the images of the buttons and directional pads are the same size as the ones on the NES controller.

I wonder what kind of cheat codes we’ll have in the future, when games run on virtual reality headsets and gesture-based controllers.
