And then there’s the people who are somewhere in between, and you can find them from the We Are Unlike You model agency.

The agency is based in Berlin and distinguishes itself from other agencies in the sense that they recruit non-traditional models from various niches, including burlesque, cabaret, and stand-up comedy. It’s an agency where models stand out because of their individuality and uniqueness.

As you can see, they’re definitely unlike the norm and definitely don’t fit the description of your typical model.

We are unlike other model agencies. We don’t just offer tremendous looking individuals, but real characters who don’t just look the part, they feel and act it too. Because it’s simply who they are.

Benches are just benches, until a huge red clip is attached to one end of it. Then it becomes a Ruilbank, which is Dutch for “barter bench.”

Essentially, they’re there to hold some reading material in place. Whether it’s a book or a magazine or a newspaper, this trusty red clip will keep it in place.

It’s a project by Pivot Creative to get people reading more – and to pass on good reads. From July 28th to September 28th, nine locations areas around Amsterdam will have benches supplied with different reading material from various sponsors, including newspaper Het Parool and the city’s public library.

Passersby are free to read, take, or barter the reading material with something else when they come across it.

Wouldn’t it be fun if someone did a similar thing on our side of the planet?

There are alarm clocks that wake you gently, and there are others that torture you to get you out of bed. The Carrot Alarm iOS app on the other hand will make you wake up so you can hang out with a GLaDOS clone. How GLaDOS-y is Carrot? She says she kills a kitten everytime you hit the snooze button. I’m not kidding. I hope she is.

Carrot’s clock is easy to use. It’s the alarm part that makes her special. And by special I mean evil. After greeting you with her cold voice, she’ll make you play a minigame before she turns the alarm off. But she has a good side too. As you use Carrot, you earn points that unlock additional sound bites and music.

Furniture doesn’t get any simpler than this.

These pieces of refoldable cardboard furniture are produced by Chairigami, which was founded by Zach Rotholz using nothing but $5,000 of his bar mitzvah money as capital.

The concept is simple: the furniture is shipped to you in a box, like most other furniture, but when you won’t find typical furniture inside, though. Instead, you’ll find more cardboard inside, although of a tougher variety, as Chairigami is made from triple-wall cardboard.

Chairigamis are basically recyclable, lightweight, and biodegradable pieces of furniture. They’re flat-packed when shipped, so they’re not bulky at all. They’re easy to assemble, too, so you don’t have to worry about that part.

Rotholz explains: “It was very grassroots. I tested and iterated as I went. A lot of the furniture ideas came from the website. People would come on the web page and give their suggestions.”

Chairigami comes in a variety of forms, ranging from chairs, to tables, to shelving, and is sold online and at the Chairigami store in Connecticut.
