The Enter Key doormat, aka “Enterus Korvrikus” – which sounds like one of those captions on a Road Runner cartoon – is the perfect addition to any geeky front door. It’s made from durable coconut fiber, so will actually help trap dirt, mud and dust while also looking cool. Though once you hit this Enter key with your feet, there’s no “Undo” key.

Concept Keyboard Feature E-Ink Keycaps

1359542540 Concept Keyboard Feature E Ink KeycapsKeyboards are more or less the same and it’s quite hard to “improve” on it, apart from ergonomics which some might disregard over features like macro buttons, mechanical keys and etc., which basically means that it really boils down to the preference of the user. However wouldn’t it be somewhat of a novel idea of the keys on our keyboards were actually dynamic in the sense that they could change depending on what we are typing or what kind of software we are running? If you said yes to that, then this concept keyboard with e-ink keycaps might be worth taking a look at, and could leave you actually wanting the product to be made.

This concept was cooked up by designers Maxim Mezentsev and Aleksander Suhih who envisioned a keyboard featuring e-ink keycaps that would change depending on the situation at hand. For example if you were surfing on a foreign website like a Japanese or Korean website, maybe the keys could change to Japanese or Korean characters, and switch back again to English later. Or maybe it can even be mapped out to show Photoshop keyboard shortcuts or display symbols that one might not typically find of normal keyboards. It’s a pretty novel idea but it has some potential – what say you?

Archos Ultrathin Keyboard for iPad: Barely Thicker than the Smart Cover

One of the coolest things about the newer iPad models is the Smart Cover that turns the tablet on and off when you open or close the cover. There also have been a number of iPad Bluetooth keyboards, but most of them add significant bulk to Apple’s slim tablet. Archos has just unveiled a keyboard for the iPad, which they claim is the world’s thinnest, and functions like the Smart Cover too.

The keyboard is, appropriately enough, called the Ultrathin Keyboard for iPad, and is a scant 5mm thick. The keyboard also weighs 240 g making it roughly half a pound. Archos says that the aluminum-backed white keyboard is the thinnest and lightest iPad keyboard available, noting that it’s almost as thin as the Smart Cover itself when attached to the iPad. With the keyboard fitted to the iPad, the tablet weighs 1.9 pounds and is 13.4 mm thick, working out to a bit over half an inch.

The keyboard has a stand that allows you to prop the tablet at various angles for typing comfort, and locks your tablet into place using the same magnetic method as the Smart Cover. The keyboard will also turn the iPad screen on and off when you open or close it. The QWERTY keyboard also has shortcut keys for iOS functions and connects to the tablet using Bluetooth.

Archos debuts Ultrathin Bluetooth Keyboard Cover for iPad

Archos has been around for a long time making some interesting gadgets in its own right as well as accessories for gadgets made by other companies. Archos has unveiled a new keyboard that it claims to be the thinnest keyboard can get for your iPad. Naturally, the new keyboard is called the Ultrathin Keyboard for iPad.

The keyboard is very thin at only 5 mm thick, which is only 0.2-inches. The keyboard is also very light weighing 240 g making it the thinnest and lightest keyboard available for your iPad according to Archos. The company says that the keyboard is so thin it’s nearly the same thickness as the iPad SmartCover when it’s attached to your iPad.

The keyboard features an adjustable kickstand that allows you to adjust the angle of the iPad when you’re typing for comfort. The keyboard has an aluminum back with white keys and looks exact like you would expect an iPad accessory to look. The keyboard has a full QWERTY arrangement and uses Bluetooth to connect to the iPad.

The keyboard is designed with what Archos calls super-silent keys and offers shortcuts for the most common iOS commands to make working faster. The keyboard uses a rechargeable battery promising a month of use per charge. Archos also fitted the keyboard with a magnetic closure similar to what Apple uses in the SmartCover. The keyboard automatically turns on when you remove it from the iPad and automatically turns off when you attach it to the iPad for mobility.

Archos offers Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad, apparently holds no grudges

Archos

Archos must be in a benevolent mood: it first posted a version of its Video Player app for competing Android devices, and now it’s selling the keyboard technology of its Gen10 XS tablets to those using an entirely different platform. Its Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad offers a familiar 0.2-inch thick, Smart Cover-like peripheral for full-size Apple tablets from the iPad 2 through to the latest generation. The design naturally switches over to iOS-native keyboard shortcuts, and there’s even an iPad-only advantage in the adjustable kickstand. Americans can buy the keyboard in March for $79; believing that Archos would downplay its core business will remain optional.

SteelSeries Apex LED Gaming Keyboard Lets You Customize its Colors

There are tons of gaming keyboards on the market today, and many of them share the same basic feature set. Acessory maker SteelSeries has unveiled a new gaming keyboard called the Apex that has an impressively customizable backlighting system to set it apart from the masses. The keyboard is capable of displaying 16.8 million different backlight colors.

The backlight also has eight levels of dimming control, and you can select which areas of the keyboard you want to be a specific color. That means you could make keys that go with macros for your favorite game one color, while leaving the remainder of the keyboard another color. Though unlike the completely customizeable Luxeed LED keyboard, this one only supports 5 predefined color zones. It would be nice if you could individually address each key.

Other than the fancy LED lighting system, the keyboard also has 22 macro keys. Each of those keys has four functions states – for a total of 88 possible macros. The keyboard also features anti-ghosting technology supporting up to 20 concurrent key presses. One of the more unusual features of the keyboard is two extra arrow keys that point up/left and up/right for quickly moving on the diagonal.

The SteelSeries Apex keyboard is available now for $99(USD).

SteelSeries unveils super colorful Apex gaming keyboard

If you are a computer gamer, you know what a big difference having the right gaming keyboard can make. Trying to play something like a first person shooter on a normal keyboard can be very irritating. The problem many standard keyboards have when it comes to gaming is ghosting where even when you remove your hands from the keys, whatever action you were doing keeps happening.

If you’re in the market for new gaming keyboard, SteelSeries has announced a new gaming keyboard called the Apex. The most interesting thing about the keyboard is that it has lots of color customization capabilities. Keyboard has five independent lighting zones each capable of displaying 16.8 million colors and eight levels of brightness.

The keyboard also has 22 different macro keys with 10 on the left side of the keyboard and the remainder above the function keys. Those macro keys support four different function settings giving you a total of 88 macro keys. You can also customize the color of those macro keys independently making it a bit easier to remember where you bound your commands.

The keyboard also has anti-ghosting technology supporting up to 20 simultaneous key presses. The keyboard also has something I’ve never seen on a gaming keyboard before, it has a pair of extra arrow keys. Typically you get left, right, up, and down arrow keys and the Apex keyboard adds in diagonal left and right up keys. The Apex keyboard will be available for $99.
