New Free Killzone Shadow Fall Maps Spotted

New Free Killzone Shadow Fall Maps SpottedIt seems that Killzone Shadow all is on the receiving end of new multiplayer maps, and here we are with the first look at a pair of these maps. The two maps were inspired by key locations from the single-player campaign, where they will roll out to the community for free (yes, it is pretty hard to believe that anything can be given for free), and it will also play nice with Killzone Shadow Fall’s Custom Warzone feature. The first map would be The Cruiser, with the other being The Hangar.

Killzone Shadow Fall Patch 1.05 Makes Changes To Single Player Campaign

Killzone Shadow Fall Patch 1.05 Makes Changes To Single Player CampaignIf you are an avid fan of Killzone Shadow Fall just as it is, you might not want to download and install any more patches. After all, why bother to change a winning formula? It is just not done for sure, and you know what they say about something not being broke – there is absolutely no point at all in fixing it. Well, for those who think that Killzone Shadow Fall might be a better game when it has the latest patches installed, you might want to keep a keen eye out for patch 1.05, as that is the patch which will see tweaks introduced to the single player campaign in addition to throwing in left-handed support, news that is sure to keep southpaws more than happy.

Needless to say, just like any other self respecting patch or update, this particular patch 1.05 of Killzone Shadow Fall will also come with it its fair share of bug fixes. Apart from the option to support left-handed players, this patch will also shorten the sequences that are found in the single-player campaign. Do bear in mind that left-handed support would only affect the analog sticks, so the shoulder buttons as well as the triggers would remain untouched. Other than that, the end section of single-player campaign chapter 7, “Secure the Target”, has also been edited to be shorter after receiving player feedback. Do bear in mind that patch 1.05 will download and install automatically. [Press Release]

New Killzone Mercenary Updates On Its Way With Free Multiplayer Maps

New Killzone Mercenary Updates On Its Way With Free Multiplayer MapsSo, the dust of next generation console launches has already fallen, and it is now a race between two thoroughbreds – the Xbox One as well as the Sony PS4, to see just which particular console between the two would come up tops in a few years’ time. I do, of course, expect this to be an extremely tight race to begin with, and here is some word on Killzone Mercenary that will be on the receiving end of several updates in the months to come. First of all, Update 3 would introduce minimal changes, but it is extremely important since this is one patch that would do its bit to drop the size of the other patches. For instance, once you have installed the Update 3 patch, it will be able to free up approximately 800MB of storage space for those who have already Updates 1 and 2 installed on their machine. Patience is the keyword here, as Update 3 ought to be ready to kick off in the weeks to come.

As for Update 4 which is due in January next year, it has been designed in order to improve Matching, all the while to help in reducing join-game connectivity problems, not to mention throwing in an auto team-rebalancing feature. As for the Big Kahuna, that would be Update 5 that will introduce a couple of new multiplayer maps without requiring you to fork out a single cent, not to mention rolling out offline Botzone for Mercenary and Guerrilla Warfare modes.

PlayStation 4′s Killzone: Shadow Fall Was Originally 290GB of Data

There are many areas around the US that have speedy broadband Internet service, but some of us still labor behind incredibly slow connections that take forever to download large files.

With the impending launch of the PS4, the premier launch title Killzone: Shadow Fall is getting a lot of press. Incredibly, the original size of the game files before compression was used was a whopping 290 GB according to details recently published. Considering the game has always been intended to be offered as a digital download, I can only imagine how long that download would take at my house.

Shadow Fall was eventually compressed down to 40 GB to enable it to fit on a Blu-ray disc. That said, 40GB is still a massive download for people who opt to purchase digitally. One reason the game was so large was because all of the textures are incredibly high resolution. The game also reportedly has a very large surface area around 5 to 10 times larger than Killzone 3 offered.

“I think at some point the disc image that we were generating was around 180 gigs,” said Guerrilla Games’ technical director Michiel van der Leeuw. “And if we would have put all the levels in, which we didn’t, because then the disc image generator broke, it would have been around 290 gigs of data.”

The good news for people hoping to purchase the game in digital format is that the PlayStation 4 will have the PlayGo system that allows you to download only a portion of the game before you can play. The bad news is that portion is still 7.5 GB meaning many people will wait many hours just to download the first portion of the game. Probably better to just buy the game on disc, if you ask me.

PlayStation 4′s launch titles may have taken a hit with the delay of both Watch Dogs and Driveclub, but one game that is definitely expected to be available when the console launches next month is Killzone: Shadow Fall. We recently learned Killzone: Shadow Fall will take over 10 hours to complete, but we’re sure you future PlayStation 4 owners want to absorb as much of the game as humanly possible prior to its release.  Well, then – you should watch the following video as it contains 13 minutes of pure gameplay of Killzone: Shadow Fall. Killzone: Shadow Fall Campaign Would Take Over 10 Hours To Complete

Killzone: Shadow Fall Campaign Would Take Over 10 Hours To CompleteI know that for some of us, we prefer short games that do not take up too much of our time. After all, time is precious, and there is a very limited amount of it each day that we can spend on gaming when you take the bigger issues of life into consideration – for most of us, that is. Well, gamers who love long and epic games will definitely be able to appreciate the likes of Killzone: Shadow Fall Campaign, where it is said to take more than 10 hours in order to complete the PS4 launch title’s single-player mode.

This bit of information has been confirmed by game director Steven ter Heide has confirmed, where in a new Q&A, Heide wrote, “Killzone Shadow Fall’s campaign should last well over 10 hours for most gamers.” Of course, we would assume that this is just the average figure that he is referring to, so there will always be that prodigy of a gamer who would be able to go through the entire single player campaign in under 10 hours. Regardless, even that would be considered as a respectable amount of time for a FPS campaign. Do you like your games to be lengthy? I would suggest RPGs then, as that genre tends to offer the best bang for your buck in terms of gameplay length-per-dollar ratio. [Press Release]

Killzone: Mercenary MP Open Beta Arriving Late Next Month

For those who managed to get in, you ought to be in possession of the necessary information in order to jump in and get going. For those who were on the receiving end of a multiplayer Beta voucher which happened to be part of the promotion via PlayStation Home, do take note that your voucher is meant for the Open Beta in late August, and not for the closed Beta that will launch later today.

As for the rest of you who did not manage to get in, or so happened to hear about it right now, fret not – the multiplayer beta will be opened right on up in late August, so do stay tuned for the details. After all, most folks should prefer a decent open beta, don’t they?
