Blackberry 10 L-series gets pictured alongside the Galaxy Note, Lumia 820 and iPhone 5

It seems like with every week that passes, we can expect new leaked images of the Blackberry 10 L-series, and at the rate they’re going we guess RIM has no interest in putting a plug in the leaks – it is free PR after all! So far we’ve seen the Blackberry 10 L-series pose next to the iPhone 5, the Nokia Lumia 820 and like we mentioned the last time, we expect that a picture of it posing next to Android could be due and it certainly looks like that is the case. As you can see in the image above, the Blackberry 10 L-series has been caught on camera (for the Nth time) posing next to its competitors – the Samsung Galaxy Note, the Nokia Lumia 820, and the iPhone 5.

Granted we will probably get a better idea of its size come next year when hopefully we will get a chance to play with the phone for ourselves, but in the meantime for those who are thinking of making the switch, this is a pretty good idea of what you can expect. It appears to be larger than the iPhone 5, roughly the same with the Lumia 820 and well, the Galaxy Note series pretty much sits in its own class and unless RIM decides to release a phablet themselves, it’s not really a fair comparison, is it? Either way the Galaxy Note easily dwarves the L-series, but unless screens over 5” is a must for you, we expect that the L-series should be just right. What do you guys think?

Plethora of Blackberry 10 L-series photos get leaked

Yesterday we saw new photos of the Blackberry 10 L-series and it was pictured alongside the Lumia 820 Windows Phone 8 device, and while the L-series has been leaked seemingly at least once a week, we guess it never hurts to get more views of the device in various angles, and that’s pretty much what the folks at TechSuplex did when they got their hands on various photos of the Blackberry 10 L-series. As far as the hardware is concerned, there certainly are no surprises but thankfully in these series of photos, we get to see various apps running on the L-series and we also manage to catch a glimpse of its home screen, so if you’d like to see more photos of what you might be able to expect come 2013, check out the rest of the photos in the gallery below.

Blackberry 10 L-series gets pictured next to the Nokia Lumia 820

As we said before, the Blackberry 10 L-series has to be one of the worst kept secrets as far as RIM’s products go, but then again we wouldn’t be surprised if this was a ploy by RIM to keep us interested and in the loop and once again, the L-series has been caught on camera and instead of posing next to its sibling, it looks like it has been caught on camera once again next to the competition, this time in the form of the Nokia Lumia 820.  Unfortunately apart from the comparison there’s not much else we can tell about the phone although based on the angle it looks like the L-series could be thinner than the Lumia 820. Hopefully we will get more shots of the L-series in the future in more angles, and maybe this time it would be nice to see it compared to an Android device – after all they have pretty much most of their bases covered in the form of iOS, Windows Phone and Blackberry 7!

Blackberry 10 L-series caught on camera again, this time alongside the Bold 9700

The Blackberry 10 L-series has to be one of the worst kept secrets as we’ve seen the device leak multiple times in the past, but then again perhaps RIM wants to get the word out as much as they can so they aren’t doing much to stem the leaks. In any case here we are again with the L-series but instead of posing side by side with an iPhone 5, the L-series is instead pictured next to a Blackberry Bold 9700 device. Blackberry 10 will be RIM’s new platform and there will be new devices accompanying it, so in a way we are looking at the present and future of RIM in the photo above. There are additional photos of the comparison in which the L-series looks noticeably thinner than the Bold 9700 and its display looks almost double its size as well. It’s a pretty stark contrast and it certainly looks like RIM is moving away from the old and into a bold (pun not intended) new future. We’ll be looking forward to seeing the L-series make its official debut next year.

We know that Blackberry 10 will be officially launching on the 30th of January in 2013, and chances are the Blackberry 10 L-series will be the first Blackberry 10 handset that will be launched. So far we’ve seen multiple leaks of the handset, so unless RIM has been blindsiding us all this while with fake leaks, we more or less know what we can expect, but how will it fare when compared to other smartphones in the market? Thanks to a recent leak (via BBIn), the L-series has been caught on camera once more but this time it can be seen lying side by side with Apple’s latest smartphone, the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 5 appears to be encased in some sort of bumper casing, and as it stands the Blackberry 10 L-series already looks noticeably bigger in terms of its display. As for whether it will be able to match the iPhone 5 in terms of thinness remains to be seen, but that’s pretty much all we have to go on for now. In any case what do you guys think of the L-series based on what we’ve seen so far? Will it have what it takes in terms of hardware to compete against the iPhone 5 and the slew of Android devices in the market?

The Blackberry 10 L-series handset poses for the camera again

We’ve seen RIM’s upcoming Blackberry 10 L-series handset leak a couple of times, so we guess by now seeing more photos of the handset really isn’t that surprising anymore. That being said, it looks like the most recent leak could be one of the clearest we’ve seen so far, and basically confirms what we’ve seen to date. This leak is also clear enough to give us more details on what the front of the phone looks like, and based on the photo, we are looking at the standard lockscreen for Blackberry 10 which is also present on the Dev Alpha A and/or B devices. The L-series is expected to launch early 2013 and according to recent reports, Blackberry 10 is currently in the carrier testing phase and is reportedly on track for a Q1 release. So far everything we’ve seen looks pretty good, but as to how it handles in the real world and whether it will be well received remains to be seen.

We’re sure that many Blackberry fans and users out there are looking forward to see what Blackberry 10 will bring to the table, and if it will be good enough to make Blackberry 10 competitive enough to go up against the likes of iOS and Android, both of which are currently dominating the smartphone platform market. While it is expected that the first Blackberry 10 device will be released in Q1 of 2013, thanks to leaked photos, we now have more images of the first Blackberry 10 device, the L-series.

This is thanks to a photo sent in to the folks at Berry Review of a handset alleging to be the L-series, although given that it is sitting in a silicone gel cover, it’s hard to get an idea of what the whole device looks like. Then again with the various leaks in the past, and assuming RIM doesn’t pull a reversal at the very last minute, we guess we more or less know what the L-series will ultimately look like. The device in the photo above can be seen running on Blackberry 10 with some apps in the background, such as Dropbox, Maps, YouTube, Skydrive and Box just to name a few.

Mexican BlackBerry rep shows off Lseries BB10 smartphone, forgets it's meant to be a secret video

While the rest of us are chasing after dev phones and blurrycam shots, BlackBerry representatives in Mexico seem to be happy to wave honest-to-goodness L-Series handsets around on video. Website Hola Telcel filmed the sequence after the break, in which we’re given a shaky tour of BB10 — including the camera app’s interesting “best shot” feature — but with virtually no attention given to the hardware itself. Nevertheless, we can just about make out the previously-noted design, with the screen panel sandwiched between slightly rounded matte black plastic top and bottom parts, and a big silver BlackBerry logo emblazoned across the bottom. Also, unless we’re reading way too much into it, the way people hold the device suggests it could be nice and thin.

BlackBerry 10 Lseries tutorial videos surface online, give a literal peek at the future video

Those of us who’ve used a BlackBerry PlayBook will be familiar with the inevitable first-boot tutorials showing how to navigate the swipe-driven interface before we’re let loose. Thanks to a series of demonstration videos leaked by BlackBerryItalia, it’s apparent that we won’t escape that educational process on BlackBerry 10 devices, either. The four clips show the basics of what we know the gesture experience will be like on full-touch L-series phones, including the signature BlackBerry Peek to check notifications and the unified inbox. Anyone looking for a direct clue as to what production BlackBerry 10 hardware will entail might be frustrated, mind you — the rendered phone appears to be a placeholder rather than the L-series or a Dev Alpha B, and the device name is censored in an attempt to protect the source. That said, the clips provide a very straightforward explanation of the new interface concept and give us one more indication that RIM is closer to launch.

RIM: first BlackBerry 10 devices to focus on mid-range and up, entry-level may be ready in 2013

BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha B

RIM’s Q2 earnings details have had a common theme of a silver lining to darker clouds, and that edge may have grown a bit brighter with hints of the company’s longer-term BlackBerry 10 roadmap. When asked about the release strategy, CEO Thorsten Heins said that the first BB10 devices would focus on both the mid-range and high-end of the market, a bit wider than the chiefly high-end approach that has been rumored so far. While shy on details, he confirmed that the full-touch smartphone would have a screen with an HD resolution — that’s higher than on the iPhone 5, the executive was eager to point out. More intriguingly, Heins teased the prospect of an entry-level BB10 device arriving as soon as 2013. Although development was in the early stages, the new starter phone just might be ready next year if all goes well. There’s a lot of questions left to answer about RIM’s strategy, so we won’t get too excited yet; even so, the statements are signs that the BlackBerry designer doesn’t want to leave any product gaps open for very long.
