Hasta La Gadget!

Listen, we’re not going to promise you that watching an hour-long episode is the same as going to Expand. The good news for those of you who were unable to attend due to scheduling or geography, however, is that the ticket price is a bit lower, and many of our favorite moments have been saved for posterity. We’ve done our best to whittle a weekend at San Francisco’s beautiful Fort Mason center into one bite-sized chunk of Engadget Show goodness. We’ll take you behind the scenes at the event and show you what it takes to run your very own consumer-facing electronics show.

We’ve got conversations with Google’s Tamar Yehoshua, OUYA’s Julie Uhrman, Jason Parrish and Corinna Proctor from Lenovo, Chris Anderson, DJ Spooky, Mark Frauenfelder, Veronica Belmont, Ryan Block, plus folks from NASA, 3D Robotics, Oculus, Google Lunar X Prize, TechShop, Lunar and IndieGogo. Looking to save some coin on your tech purchases? Of course you are! In this round-up, we’ll run down a list of the freshest frugal buys, hand-picked with the help of the folks at Slickdeals. You’ll want to act fast, though, as many of these offerings won’t stick around long.

3D HDTVs, laptops, displays and tablets all catch price cuts on today’s list. A 32GB Nexus 7 and Vizio’s 15-inch ultrabook may nab top billing, but there’s plenty to scope out on the other side of the break. Be careful, though, because those pesky rebate forms have crept up once again.

For those that can swing a Chromebook Pixel in the first place, the LTE model may be the wisest choice when it promises always-on data for a constantly connected machine. Anyone who can justify the $1,449 outlay will be happy to know that Google has quietly narrowed down the launch window: early orders should now ship by April 8th. Shoppers will still have to be Americans willing to latch on to Verizon’s network for LTE, but the date leaves a mere two weeks before the release of what’s unquestionably the highest-end (and priciest) Chrome OS system yet. Any takers?

Samsung’s ATIV Smart PC has been giving Americans a blend of LTE data and Windows 8 for some time, but we’re sure that some would like a little more oomph. The company agrees — it just released a version of the ATIV Smart PC Pro equipped with AT&T-capable LTE. If you’ve got a not-insubstantial $1,600 to commit to a tablet, you can stay online beyond WiFi while wielding a laptop-grade 1.7GHz Core i5, 4GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD and as much as eight hours of runtime.

Ultrabook fans aren’t left out from Samsung’s upgrades. A newer Premium trim level for the 13-inch Series 9 swaps out the regular 1,600 x 900 LCD for a full 1080p screen. The higher resolution bumps the price to a slightly intimidating $1,900, although Samsung does outfit the PC with a 1.9GHz Core i7, 4GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. Between this and the Smart PC Pro, it’s safe to say that the company can accommodate the highest of the high end.

Microsoft created its Windows 8 OS with touchscreen in mind, with a number of traditional PC users most likely groaning at the thought of reaching out to their monitor in order to open up a program. Mobile computers like laptops, ultrabooks and tablets seem to be making the best use of the new OS since their screen is within an easily reachable distance.

HP introduced its Envy X2 last August which is an 11.6” touch-screen slate PC that easily brings the portability of a tablet with the productivity of a light laptop when it’s connected to its keyboard dock. When we originally put our hands all over it, we walked away extremely impressed, but we knew we had to get this thing into our review lab to put it through all of our tests to see just how good it is.
